  1. I'm not going to critize any of them because they get the permission and do what they like to do. It's just not a method of hunting I would like to do because when all you see out of your window everyday is a brick wall and hear trucks driving across a bridge, it's nice to get deep in the woods and not hear anything. I also would find it stressful dealing with people and pets etc... all the while. For example, I'm watching right now and the guy has to rake leaves and fertilize the grass instead of hunt lol! Still watching it though, as it is a different take on things that I am used to.
  2. Point taken, I am referring solely to State Land. If you trust corporations to clean your water, hope that works out for you. Not going to argue with you. I stand where I stand and you stand where you stand. Moving on...
  3. I didn't do it, but I'll read up on it for sure. Same thing happened to form the Pepacton. In the end its the way of the world. I can't stop it, you can't stop it, some will make money and some will get hurt. History repeats itself. I'm not in this for selfish reasons, I have no monetary or political interests. I just believe in clean water for you guys in the North, us City Slickers in the South, and everyone else, and hope we can at least agree on that.
  4. I understand your economical concerns but you need to realize a couple things. First, this country is Ours. Not yours or mines exclusively. Everyone has a say in what goes on in the big cities or rural mountains. In fact, my plan is to move from the city because of my nature and I did not choose to be born in Queens anymore than someone chose to be born anywhere in the world. It is my concern regardless of whether I live there or not. I hunt there and I spend all my time off in the mountains. Im not totally against the idea of getting the resources, but the current method is very concerning to all Our water. Remember, we get our water from upstate. You also need to realize not every downstater is filthy rich and can buy land anywhere they want. I have no house, no car, hardly savings. I live month to month like most and struggle each day to make a buck and support my family as well. I'd still prefer a better way of attaining those resources than the current method. I just do not agree with the experimentation of methods used to only find out YEARS from now our waters are even more polluted than they already are and we have to now buy drinking water, our main life fuel. I dont think any amount of economical help is worth that.
  5. I just do not understand how any good can come out of injecting 100's of toxic chemicals into the Earth, other than of course, making money from it. Here is a little reading: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=are-fracking-wastewater-wells-poisoning-ground-beneath-our-feeth Im not claiming to have a better solution, but I can clearly see what is not a good thing. The wild animals we hunt would be drinking that toxic water first. Might as well call them Forever Toxic Lands thereafter. I think we need to put more effort into our children's childrens future instead of the while I am alive scenario.
  6. Try Sangre De Toro from Torres or Camp Viejo, both Spanish Wines. They vary depending on where you are from $9-11 each. Most Spanish Red Wine's are great, but I am biased
  7. Stop stealing our sheds Wooly!!!! I swear I feel like you are going around all our zones and finding the sheds before we do lol. Just Kidding! I've been walking all over the mountain looking for sheds and its harder than deer hunting! I don't just roam around. I follow tracks in snow through all their weaves and turns. Only good thing out of it is that the tracks tell me a story but man , finding a shed is damn hard! Catskills, Mountain, need a preference point for doe permits fyi. Are you in an area with many deer?
  8. Oh, those are fakes. I used to play with them when I was a kid.
  9. Thanks all. lol, Not sure where the steer horns came from, my dad found them somewhere. Yes, very concerned about my 2011 buck, but I hear sometimes some people take over a year? Giving him the benefit of the doubt, his floor was Loaded with deer, bear and coyote. However, Im going to call up again soon to request it for May. It was my first catskills buck so I am definitely looking forward to gettting it back.
  10. Got him home. Wow, what a feeling. Being my first mount, I didn't know what to feel but I actually felt remorse and sadness a bit at first. Then I was happy to have him immortalized and the ability to see him over and over with the memory of that day and to just respect his greatness, as weird as it might sound.
  11. I can't believe how disconnected people have become from their food. Even vegetarians need to understand plant life is Life. I think most of the complainers do not realize that you eat squirrel and it is a legit hunting game. They should post that all squirrels will not go to waste and used for food. I know, you will still have crazies against it either way but alot of people on the edge of the line, might just think its a shoot and leave on ground deal. Now, if they don't eat the squirrels, I'd be against it myself in all honesty, but I know better. When did this country become so #@$!#@!#?
  12. Well, actually my second mount, but the first mount was a 2011 kill that I still have not gotten back. This is my 2012 kill and should be getting it within the month. Crazy right!? Got a preview pic and love it. Can't wait to have my first mount back. I really hope my other mount comes out great being that its been over a year.
  13. Great, I wish you good hunting and hope you see some grouse! They are not easy to find but definitely follow along streams as a start.
  14. I am chrismgon aka Posted Boy Gallego. I bumped into regular grouse hunters at the spot while I was scouting for deer. I have never been grouse hunting there though. Just because I saw 3 one day does not mean you will see more or less so please keep that in mind. I attached a screenshot of the google maps. IF you go West on 17, you reach Roscoe Exit 94, Then make a left at the exit and go straight past the light. This is 206 or County road 7 (goes by both names). Before you get to the Pepacton Reservoir, there is Jug Tavern Rd. You make a left on it and then follow to the Campbell Rd's. Both have parking areas. Both would be great places to step out and take walks along streams. Hope this helps.
  15. Hey, chrismgon was my old account fyi. If you drive up North 206 (county road 7) from Roscoe, then make a left on Jug Hill Tavern Road. Both Campbell Mountain rd and Campbell brooke rd have parking areas. I do not remember which one I was in but I parked, started hiking around scouting for deer and remember pushing 3 grouse not far from the road along a stream. Best places to find them are along streams. I usually just walk along streams and eventually will get a heartattack when one flies up Check out google maps for a better view on my directions.
  16. Whether or not this does anything, at least it felt good to sign it! https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/rule-ny-safe-act-be-unconstitutional/W2KLT6t8 https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/impeach-governor-andrew-cuomo/b4NBSNTR
  17. Up to 5, maybe. The only answer they have against all the questions go along the lines 'I repeat, the State troopers provided this info' in regards to the characteristics of an assault rifle. Also when asked if this law was in place a month ago, would it have prevented Webster or Sandy Hook, the response was No.
  18. Thanks for the link. They are embarrassing the law makers with questions they are not prepared for. Loving it. 769 homocides in NY 5 were long guns. Address the homocides and violent crimes people, not the tools.
  19. There is the reason. Brown its down is what you do not like. Honestly, when you have to drive up 2-6 hours and spend $80-100 in gas and tolls and have to make it back home late sunday night to work Monday am in the city, as long as it is legal within antler restrictions as well, if its Brown its down is right. If the brown its down guys lived near the woods, I'm sure you will see a change in the way they hunt and be more selective. Many of us just do not have that luxury and I hope you understand that. Now, as for crazy guys, I agree on both ends. You know, there are two sides to the story, and I have seen many crazy city guys as well as many crazy local guys. Both sides have em. Lets join up together as the good guys regardless of where we may be living and regardless of what we aim to shoot, horns or no horns
  20. Catskills deer in a Queens Garage. Tradition continues. Of my Dad and me younger.
  21. Don't be lazy. You are young. Use your legs. Use shed searching as a scouting recon for next season.
  22. My advice would be to not worry about what shows up on Trail cams. Just practice the old school method of finding their trails and signs.. It will help you learn to find them on their terms, instead of attracting them to you. Place the trail cams on their trails/food sources and they will come.
  23. I'll be out with the bow this coming Friday-Sunday. Wish I lived upstate, I'd be out there every morning or afternoon outside of work. Haven't gotten one with the bow this year after a long haul so I'll be happy arrowing anything at all. Doe or legal antler's due to AR and I'll be grateful.
