  1. looking at that whole BB gun thing made me think of paintball guns, same thing technically, no? so I found a local paintball place and checked their age restrictions.....they allow 10 and up, just find that interesting and threw it out there for no particular reason...
  2. do you have approximate measurements for making the rub, and how about smoke time and temperature? just getting into the smoker thing and can use all the help I can get.
  3. and the moral of this story?....stay off of Facebook.
  4. I know, but assumed we were talking about unsupervised kids.........and this really isn't about stop signs or kids shooting BB guns anyway.
  5. I know this will get ripped apart, but here it goes anyway, forget about what you did as a kid and what you do as an adult for a few minutes......teaching your child how to illegally take a deer by going beyond just allowing him to pull the trigger (probably had a good lesson on how to lie thrown in there as well), is probably setting him up for a lifetime of more of the same, and is much different then allowing a child to target shoot with a BB gun unsupervised, if the parent feels they are ready to do it,.....it's more of setting an example for our children then anything else, kids watch adults and usually follow the path they were led down.
  6. and you can probably marry a first cousin in Alabama....what's you're point?
  7. I assume this is what you were asking for? S 265.05 Unlawful possession of weapons by persons under sixteen. It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of sixteen to possess any air-gun, spring-gun or other instrument or weapon in which the propelling force is a spring or air, or any gun or any instrument or weapon in or upon which any loaded or blank cartridges may be used, or any loaded or blank cartridges or ammunition therefor, or any dangerous knife; provided that the possession of rifle or shotgun or ammunition therefor by the holder of a hunting license or permit issued pursuant to article eleven of the environmental conservation law and used in accordance with said law shall not be governed by this section. A person who violates the provisions of this section shall be adjudged a juvenile delinquent.
  8. one piece of advice......get a good, thick cushion to sit on.
  9. I'm pretty sure it's like you said, and only offered like that in select areas......yeah, all that time spent drawing cartoons can really wear on a man.
  10. that 1/8th inch bend will be magnified immensely at 40 yards...send it back asap!!
  11. took me all day to nail one.........Good Night folks, I'm outta here!!
  12. this whole thread is fabricated........go back to sleep.
  13. when I started this thread I honestly thought I would get responses speaking out against the said violator, that really backfired...which is pretty surprising after hearing all the complaints about people using other's tags, hunting without licenses..etc..,oh well. Oh, and I apologize for using the word "disturbing" that was a bit dramatic, but I really thought this thread was gonna go the other way.
  14. the breaking of the laws is not disturbing at all.....we all know it goes on and apparently is quite acceptable...........what I found odd, is the outcry from the 'villagers" backing this when usually people are totally disgusted by anyone who uses another's tag on a buck they didn't kill, because we all know how sacred an animal that is. The fact that the Father, who is of an obvious superior intelligence, had the ingenious idea to put it on social media and fact that he further embarrassed himself by making ridiculous statements defending it are only an added bonus.
  15. if you don't mind, how about sharing the brine and smoking instructions?
  16. and I'm willing to bet that everything you mentioned was carried out under the watchful eye of intelligent parents like probably 98% of us....... I don't remember my parents ever putting my shady "accomplishments" out for the entire State to read about. Those moral/ethical things you mentioned earlier are situations you're put into, you don't wake up in the morning and plan on having to make those calls.......that's a lot different than intentionally setting out to break two or three different laws, or maybe not in your book.
  17. and the fact that the Father let the kid pull the trigger is the least of the things I found to be "disturbingly" funny..............the getting of the Aunt's tag to use (we all know how pissed off many guys get about that), the putting it on Facebook and the Town rallying around them (what else goes on around there) really are what stands out.
  18. yeah, I don't get it, do some find it "OK" because a child is involved? if the father killed that same deer illegally and got a family members tag to put on it, would these same people think it's "OK"? I bet not.......
  19. and I bet this is the first time they ever put another family members tag on a deer that wasn't killed by them.....just another one of those ethical/moral diversions, nothing to be concerned about.
  20. I really probably should have used the word "funny", not sure why I used "disturbing", but too late to change that now............
  21. I find anytime a child is told it's ok to do something illegal and then if you get caught to blame everyone else, to be pretty far out there as far as right and wrong go........and good move by Dad putting it out there on facebook, probably the smartest move of all. I find it hard to believe that anyone who would make those moral/ethical /legal decisions that you mentioned, would choose to involve their kids in it. I wonder what the Dad said to the kid right before they got caught? probably either "watch this" or "hold my beer".
  22. did anyone else read the article where a Father allowed his son to illegally kill a buck before he was old enough? The buck was also illegally tagged by a relative........the Crooks actually were supported by people who raised money to help pay for the fines the family was given for this act....The father was later quoted as saying this was the result of "jealous people" and " They will never take away our memories and the proudest day of my life"..........unbelievable to say the least.
  23. absolutely.....I normally wear size 11, this year I grabbed a pair of 13's that allowed extra socks and those stick on chemical foot warmers and still had some air space inside.......nice and warm.
  24. yes, definitely give the boot covers a try, I think they work great when sitting for long periods...and plenty of space to throw some chemical warmers inside without crowding the inside of your boots.
