or maybe at a certain point you look at the numbers and realize any more money spent is going to be money thrown away.......I have no idea how campaigns are run, but I would think at some point they realize that spending a few million dollars on a losing battle is not the best move.

I've seen a fair number of TV ads about Astorino down on Long Island....enough that anyone who watches would have had to seen them once or twice.
-
probably a pretty good bet that if DEC sees a yellow tag they are definitely gonna look at it......
-
do you have a local lumberyard that could special order them?
-
I usually wait for the nonstop phone calls with a very important recorded message from Wayne LaPierre before I renew my membership.........that or the offer of an extremely cheap gift.

it's kinda like taking your grandkids to an amusement park.........you're probably not gonna go on the rides, and paying the price of admission may be a bit much, but you do it for the kids.

The foam hunting pads you see for sale in sporting goods stores are good. They're warm, dry, quiet and soft enough to keep you comfy.
yes, those are good, and cheap...I bought 2 and glued them together.

if you sit directly on the ground or a rock when it's cold out, you suck that coldness right into your body.......make sure you have adequate insulation between yourself and the ground.

I went to buy my 2014 hunting license this morning The issueing agent told me that he had seen a couple of landowners that were rejected for their DMP antlerless permits. He said there is an outside chance that other applicants for that particular unit may get a permit before landowners. Seems to me that it was just a computer glitch. I can't believe that a non taxpayer would get a permit before the landowner. Permits have always been given to landowners before everyone else as long as permits were to be issued in the unit. Has anyone heard of this?
I did get my permit for 4O though
I'm a taxpayer, don't have enough land to qualify for a landowner permit, but I certainly pay a lot of property tax every year.

I was wondering why the shelves were empty.

The fetus out of those knocked up doe should be just about eatin' size by the end of January.........
only about as big as a baby sparrow if memory serves me correctly.
-
I can't imagine how they would run the shotgun and archery hunts on the State or County lands at the same time.........would be fine on private land, especially for the spots that don't have enough room for firearms discharge.

DEC's website still shows the Dec 31st end of season for 2014....I haven't heard otherwise.
-
If I remember correctly, back in the day you were required to transport the deer so they were exposed......I may be wrong, but I seem to remember that being the law.

wow, can they suck any more life out of what is supposed to be a primitive sport?

I don't have a single deer on camera, but then again I don't put any out....I like to keep my hunting on a much lower level, don't need technology to keep the blood pumping.

This new policy, if true, is ageist and also discriminates against Luddites.
exactly what I was thinking...wait, what did you say?

if I have the opportunity to take a bear I will, and I'll gladly lose a day or two of deer hunting to take care of it. I've killed more than enough deer so not taking another for one year won't really bother me too much, especially after having paid to go out of state bear hunting and not have taken one.

nice job.....don't put the pics on facebook!!!

Mr VJP He says a 308 is a bettet choice than a 30-06
then it must be true..either one will do for NY or 99% of all North American game animals.
-
The majority of bear seasons are held during months when it is still warm out and they seem to be able to get them out and save the meat without spoilage.....just have a plan if you should get one and the rest will work itself out.

we had a well drilled several years ago and dealt directly with the drilling company (Titan), I would think that any time you use a middleman you also pay them a fee to set things up with the drilling company, you very rarely get something for nothing......they did everything from the drilling, the electric hookup and the plumbing.

Depends on several things. I've always wanted to take a bear. If was first light opening day, probably not. Then again with a bear in the area, you won't see any deer.
I don't believe that for a second.........
-
I would probably shoot it, but having helped get a 250 pound bear out of the woods once I would say it's much more difficult than getting a large deer out of the woods.......

another thing I noticed, Astorino has not brought up the Safe Act and how it was passed, at least not that I have seen........which concerns me that perhaps he knows that the majority of NY residents are either for it or have no opinion on it, which is why he has left it alone, at least from what I have seen in televised ads that would be seen by the general public. I realize that anyone who cares is aware of his stance on the issue, but that's not who needs to be convinced.
