I've been consuming animals killed by lead for about 40 years......guess I should get checked for lead poisoning too.

I don't think any caliber is meant to "bust through brush".........any twig can make any caliber deviate from its intended target.
-
just taking looking at the list as posted, there may be a couple very nice guns in that collection, but far from what I would call an amazing collection.........there's a lot of guns on that list that are pretty common and probably wouldn't get the price he thought they would, guess we'll never know if he never gives us an update.

sounds like a bargain, who wouldn't jump at the chance to buy something that is "similar" to something else, or parts that are "thought" to be parts of something without asking questions.............
-
ahhh Growie, I puked when she decided to post her turkey kill and then vanished again.......
-
it's a defense mechanism that have in response to antler restrictions...they hold onto their smaller antlers as long as possible.

Wait until shawnu sees that.............grins
where has Shawnu been? I kinda miss his post's......
-
I always use locktight and just recently bought a torque wrench....as far as alignment, I put an old scope in the rings when I tighten up the the rings and bases, then I put in the new scope......that being said, I never did any of that for the longest time.

Its NY. Every one of his hunting video says NY in the description or title.
if that's the case, it's right up there with all the trail camera pictures that people post with some type of food in front of the camera.........no shortage of stupid people in this world.
-
is that in NY? might not be illegal where the video was taken....that being said, I don't know why people post half the crap they do on the internet.
-
Just to let you guys know Maine has recently changed their system for the Mose lottery to make it easier for those in the long run. You can buy points for years you can't go and the points increase after five and ten years. They also guarantee if you have ten points after 70
Years old I think. My trip cost less than two thousand including house rental and meat cutting. Travel was extra. Just be careful some zones do not have public land and some don't have motels or house rentals like zone 1. It was the best hunting trip of my life.
guaranteed after I'm 70? don't have time for that.

my concern is, that I have apples growing at the "knuckle", but there's also new growth growing out from the "knuckle" past the cluster of apples.....is this going to cause the apples to suffer?
-
What does "knuckled" mean?? I know nothing about trimming apple trees. I usually trim off the smaller lower and or dying limbs.
I'm far from an expert (not even close), but I think its when you trim back the smaller branches to within a few inches of where they branch off from the main limbs....kinda looks like "knuckles when you're done.
-
is it ok to trim back the new green shoots this time of year? I knuckled all the branches this winter, and they're growing apples at the knuckle, but there are also new shoots growing out of the spots I trimmed......are these shoots taking nutrients away from the apples?

I'm thinking of starting to apply for the VT, New Hampshire and Maine moose permits.
you're probably better off putting $100.00 away a month with plans on going to Newfoundland, you'll have enough in about four years to go..........

too many great broadheads out there to have to use one that's legality is questionable.

Any one using these broad heads? I was looking at them at a local archery shop, the owner says they work great, but he is a salesman! They are mechanical but will cut 1" even if they fail to open. Supposedly fly like field points. Of course they all say that.LOL
are those the ones that when they impact the tip pushes back and the blades open up to a wider diameter? if so, I was told they are illegal in NY due to the fact that when you go to pull them out they do the same in reverse creating a "barb", most mechanicals allow the blades to fold over fully when you go to pull them out, these do not..........I bought some and this appears to be true, so I never used them.

Is anyone aware of the online course we need to take (I took the gun hunters ed prior to 2014) to be able to hunt with crossbows? I've looked on the DEC website and couldn't find anything. Thanks.
I believe that no longer exists, it was discontinued when crossbows were no longer considered legal implements..........I'm pretty sure there will be a new requirements.
-
did you say you talked to the owners wife? sounds to me like you found him.......I would think if he doesn't call you back, that he's not interested in letting you hunt, maybe another follow up call or two is about as far as I'd push it.
-
I know nothing about crossbows or if this is normal for them, but I'm pretty sure that would be unacceptable with a longbow........you don't want your arrows hitting your target at an angle.

according to my local news, this is the 74th school shooting since the Sandyhook shooting............wow, that's unbelievable......I'm not quite sure exactly what it is, but something is seriously wrong.
-
30-06, although I just replaced mine with a .308.
-
that's actually pretty cheap when you look at what that guy was asking for that property in the Poconos a few weeks back.
