  1. Why not, they should thrive over there.

I worked in St Thomas USVI and they have whitetails on that little island. Some local told me settlers in the olden days brought them over in an attempt to domesticate, didn't work.

from what I've heard, they are very easily domesticated.....just ask around.

  2. Do any of you really understand what a felony is and what the penalties are for that level of crime? Do you understand the residual effects on employment and any kind of gun ownership, not to mention the social consequences for you and your family members.

Certainly when things have turned to open revolt or a total breakdown of government, those things will no longer matter, but right now we are a long ways from that condition. Right now, if you break the law, you will be a felon, and will suffer all the indignities and hardships of the penalties ..... by yourself. Right now you will face the financial ruination of legal fees for your defense. Right now, you will be hauled off to jail, and no one will come to your defense. Right now, there is no armed militia or uprising to call you a hero or rise up in a full-fledged revolt. Right now each person that fails to comply is on their own. That's the facts of the situation right now.

I would say that if you are simply planning on not complying with the law, you had better be ready to accept some jail time and accept the loss of all of your firearms, and accept having a prison record. And don't be looking for any uprising to result ..... just your felony conviction and whatever other negative aspects to your life that may come as a result.

Perhaps there will come a day when conditions are such that open revolt takes place. Maybe it will be organized and somehow have some chance of success. But right now that scenario does not exist, and when it comes to felony law-breaking, you are on your own just like any other criminal that society has come to despise.

well said.......anybody who does something stupid at this point will quickly find themselves all alone and in a world of....

  3. They want non compliance, that will lead to confiscation

last thing they want you to do is register your guns... (heres a secret) most of your guns they already know you have....

I bet more than 50% of guns out there are no longer possessed by the original owner, and may very well have passed through several owners at this point, all undocumented private sales...........they're lucky if they know who owns a small fraction of what is out there.

  4. if you find someone willing to do the transfer for any additional fee, and you're ok with paying it, I'd keep that info to myself.......from what I hear there are quite a few who are adding "administrative fees" to the transaction, only a matter of time before they start cracking down on this.

  5. Anyone have any idea where the assumption came from that the 2nd amendment is all about hunting, or even has anything at all to do with hunting? How did that notion even get started? The fact is that there is no constitutional guarantees that have anything to do with hunting ..... but there are for gun ownership. So hunting really doesn't even have a place in this discussion.

The point is that it is useful to the antis (and certain misguided individuals supposedly among our own ranks) to categorize firearms usage and create rifts among gun owners in a sort of "divide and conquer" maneuver. It appears that with some individuals, it is working well.

  6. Funny how you always like to bring up high fence hunting. Nothing on my post said/had anything to do with high fence hunting.

You know what that mean's right?

I never mentioned high fenced hunting at all, I mentioned livestock...which as far as I'm concerned is anything being raised to be killed............and I'm gonna have to go back and check, because I don't remember ever "always" bringing up high fenced hunting.

  7. I am going off the beaten path here -------

Making things easier for newbies is not a good thing in my opinion . People don't learn to accept failure . It's part of the "dumbing down of America" !

    Examples :

    1) T-Ball --- Scores aren't kept . Kids run the bases . There are no losers . Everyone is a winner so little Billy Bob doesn't cry when he strikes out .

    2) Daddy takes little Billy Bob gun hunting during the Youth Hunt . The kid hunts with a gun while others are using bows . Because it's warmer weather than during gun season  he doesn't suffer the cold and is made to think that's what hunting is about . Plus he isn't in the way when Daddy deer hunts

    3) Tests are too hard so they are simplified so more students get passing grades . Stupid kids don't know they are failures until they enter the Real World ..

    4) Schools do away with Honor Roll Lists so little Johnny isn't embarrassed because his name isn't on the list .

Making things easier doesn't prepare people for failure and that's probably why so many turn to drugs ! I doubt that some youngster that starts out hunting with a crossbow is going to switch to a Compound later on .

I'd rather see a youngster hunt with a crossbow than not get into hunting at all.......

  8. When I went to Albany lat week, before the rally, they was a message from a group asking for more restrictions from NY state.  They used the my son was shot crowd to push their message.  Of course we all know these would not be prevented with the new laws anymore than Sandy Hook was.  I was not impressed with their number approximately 25 to 30.  However a couple things that did catch my attention were  They were surrounded by legislators supporting them.  These legislators are still in power and if they remain so after November, this will get worse.  Do you think those people were pro gun?  I don't.  Also, there were 5 people across from them holding repeal the safe act signs. They were escorted out by the police there and they were standing there holding signs.  The media covered them to the maximum in the Albany area.  The morning of the rally on the news all they said about the rally was that streets would be closed.  (How do you think the commuters into town for work felt about that.)  And  that there would be a press conference from a group supporting the Safe act. After they got video on the news.  We got a mention that said there were a few hundred to a thousand attending the rally.( Albany police conservatively said 6 thousand)   If you think they don't want your hunting guns and all others, you need to wake up and smell the coffee. This is such an uphill battle against a lot more people and organizations they we all think are even out there.

There's no doubt a politician gets the sympathy vote, and actively seeks it out, when he stands next to the family who lost someone to gun violence..........given the chance to choose between getting that out into the media or standing with a guy holding a gun, the choice is painfully obvious. Make no mistake, the politicians and media will pick and chose who they're gonna have themselves seen with and or interview..........I hate to say it, but sometimes the best publicity is no publicity, especially at the rallies set up by the pro gun people if it's only going to get good publicity for the other side.

  9. This is a great idea and i have been pushing the word on bringing wolves into Ny myself.  I think that would be an awesome sight to see in the wild. Yes this would also take care of any left over deer problems for the year.  Maybe even get enough to get a season on them in 5 years or so.

If people want wolves reintroduced, I guess the coyote problem can't be that bad and all the reports of how much of an impact they have on deer population is BS.......if you want more predators to help reduce the deer herd why not petition to have coyotes put on the protected species list?

  10. The problem isn't the truck load pics. Heck I have pics of my truck with 13 deer in it that 6 of us got on one morning. But my pics were 35mm and in OUR album to spark the memory. Today those pictures are plastered on the net. Our social media today brings new problems of pictures that we never had before.

100% correct, I have the same reaction when I see what some people put on facebook........pictures and videos of themselves, families and friends acting stupid for the whole world to see, I don't get too worked up over anything, I just shake my head and wonder what they are thinking.
