  1. am I the only one who pictures a 15 year old kid sitting in front of the computer posting some of this stuff?????
  2. yep, deer have been dropped that fast with every caliber or gauge imaginable.
  3. you know, glad you mentioned that, no shortage of bad shots at deer under 10 yards...steep angles are pretty challenging to those who don't practice them.
  4. we planted a very small plot one year and the deer ate it as fast as it grew.........just toss some corn around and it should grow back.
  5. no doubt it'll do the job in the hands of a responsible hunter.........but with so many better choices out there, why? if you're the guy who wants to shoot a bear should the opportunity arises, not the best caliber to have in your hands.
  6. we use the real ones......that's why I didn't say "fake".
  7. not right now, I'll be checking them in the next day or two so will snap a few pics.
  8. very sad.....sounds like he went peacefully.
  9. yeah, I kind of agree with that......why he does it, I have no idea.....but to me and a lot of others, bowhunting is about getting the game in close, there is no better adrenaline rush then watching an animal work its way within range, at least to me anyway. That's great for entertainment for some, but just doesn't do it for me.
  10. the one or two ground blinds I use are made out of discarded Christmas trees....drive around and load up the truck and drag em out right after the Holiday is over, they hold up fairly well for a few years with just some patching up now and then.
  11. ha, long ways away......I was going to guess Suffolk, we seem to have a lot of deer with that reddish hair on the top of the head.
  12. build it out of logs and branches and natural stuff in the woods......if you find someone who is willing to steal that crap they can have it.
  13. the best and only way is to take it with you when you're done....and then of course if you do leave it there's always the chance you'll find some dbag sitting in it when you go to use it, the list of crappy things other hunters will do is endless.
  14. that's my personally gathered information from being a member of Deer Search for a few years and more then likely tracking a larger number of wounded deer then the average hunter....not a huge data base, but enough to feel confident making that statement.
  15. 30 yards max.........there have been just as many deer wounded and lost at 10 yards as there have at 40-50 yards, all by people who could have made those same shots all day long except for that one unfortunate time, it happens.....sorry, had to throw that in.
  16. just one recommendation, if you build something in the woods out of cardboard, duct tape or any other man made material, please take it out at the end of the season if you're on public land........I found myself cleaning up some crap like that this past year. I'm not directing this at anyone, just a thought I'd throw out there.
  17. I like to think most people are smart enough to know their own limitations.........
