  1. I would think that if you're caught strolling out of the woods with nothing more then a sack of meat and a tag, you're going to have a lot of questions to answer....I don't see it as being the same as walking out of a butcher's shop with your processed deer or stopped with it neatly packed into a cooler on your way home after a weekend of hunting.

  3. Of course, but I would think if someone decides to totally reduce a doe to nothing but boned out meat and doesn't want to lug out the head and hide, they would have to show some type of proof of what they killed....or maybe not, doesn't matter to me, was just showing the wording they use that may cause confusion.
  4. This is one of the answers to a question on DEC's website regarding transport. A deer carcass minus the head may be transported as above, but evidence of the sex of the deer must be intact. The deer carcass tag must be affixed to the carcass, and a tag supplied by the taker must also be attached showing the name and address of the taxidermist where the head was sent.
  5. Only if you got caught.
  6. I may be wrong, but if shooting a bow accurately or at all for that matter isn't a mandatory state requirement for a certificate, then I can't see how some instructors can decide to add it to a course and pass or fail people on it.
  7. I think only about 3 million people attended the parade last year, so shouldn't be too crowded.......
  8. do a dry run before you commit to spending a lot of money on hotels and everything else...if you don't like it now, you'll probably hate it when it's overrun on a busy day like the parade.

    Sound

well, if it's really loud it's a lot closer then if you can barely hear it........
  12. This is very true...I hunt a few properties that the deer don't stray too far from the landscaped properties where they have access to an abundance of food. I would do some scouting closer to the houses as long as the homeowner is ok with it.
  13. I don't find it to be that far fetched, I would think anyone with the right photography equipment could very easily capture photos of that quality, especially if they're anticipating the shot. I was in Rocky Mountain National Park a few months back and there would always be numerous cars pulled over with people taking photographs of the animals with high end equipment.
  14. holding a bow the entire hunt can get old and real cold at times, not to mention that trying to move it from lying across you knees or off the ground and trying to get it into position creates an awful lot of movement. I would suggest some type of holder that sticks into the ground and holds your bow in a vertical position regardless of if you're in a ground blind or sitting against a tree in a makeshift blind.
  15. I was on a nuisance permit that allowed the killing of either sex, however the antlers from any buck had to be turned over to DEC....another one I was on was issued to the property owner because the deer destroyed thousands of dollars in landscaping, ornamental shrubs and the like...that was on an Estate that was maybe 5 or so acres.
  16. Nice, I bet you left with a much lighter wallet after all that........
  17. I just went through shopping for a new bow........walked away with a Hoyt Pro Defiant. But I don't think you can go wrong with any of the ones mentioned.
  18. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/8305.html In Suffolk the regular season is the Archery season....I'm not sure on the Westchester regulations, but if they don't allow hunting with a firearm then it should be the same.
  19. definitely possible, has happened several times here on Long Island in a few different places over the years. http://www.dec.ny.gov/press/91016.html
  20. yeah, I'll never understand the person who sticks a needle in his or her arm just for fun, it's beyond my comprehension to figure out at what point a person finds this to be a good idea knowing how bad it is....but there is no doubt the over prescribing of pain medication is a huge culprit, that and botched surgeries that have left people unable to even function without pain relief. I've pretty much seen it all, some almost understandable and others just leave you shaking your head in disbelief.
  21. I don't doubt the Bible has saved people from addiction...as a matter of fact I know it has, but I think it's more a case of replacing one addiction with another. I've seen it work with other healthier options as well...and if it works it doesn't matter what someone chose to utilize to get off drugs or alcohol, all that matters is that they did.
