Wife's co-worker fell out of a tree yesterday setting up a stand

I could see how a ladder stand may give someone a false sense of security as opposed to a climbing stand or a hang on..........been guilty of that myself a time or two. -

yeah, Northern Hydraulics has one for about $50 more then that old one.......after the time and supplies it might not even be worth it. -
I had a few tags that were actually metal buttons.......gotta try and find them, think my brother may have them.

air will be sucked in through any cracks and it will burn hotter then you want......I know on my stove when the door gasket starts to go I pretty much have to totally close the dampers to keep the fire from burning to hot. -
less hunters and more people being selective in what they kill.

what's the after dinner entertainment, clubbing some baby seals?

oh man...you're gonna be on PETA's hit list for sure.

I was thinking along those lines as far as contacting the owner and asking about the neighbor and if he had prior permission to hunt and maybe even a contact #.....

yeah, think you may have got it.

for $125 or a little more you may be able to find one in a little better shape...that crack would give me second thoughts, not that it can't be patched, but who knows if it's been over fired a few times....definitely fire it up, if I recall, the cracks open up when heated. -
ribbed....for his pleasure.

reindeer or caribou?

keep in mind this guy did absolutely nothing wrong so far, and he may very well never have done nothing wrong, he has a stand on a property line and he may very well have had prior permission........handle it as such, no need to treat him like he's public enemy #1. I have a friend who bought property and opening day a few guys pulled up to hunt the land, they had been hunting there for years and had no idea the landowner had sold, wasn't a problem, but things like this happen....not everyone does things with ill intentions.

we use something called "stove black" to refinish cast iron stoves, much better the spray paint, I would just wire wheel/ brush it...avoid sandblasting because some older stoves have sealant in the seams that you could destroy. Refinish it yourself, it's very simple...what brand is it is that a crack along the left side?? https://www.amazon.com/Rutland-Williams-Stove-Polish-Paste/dp/B007UXK1DG -
you gotta look at it this way, if you had your stand set up and someone came along afterwards and set up close to you, how would you feel? my issue is the permanent stands on State land.
-
I don't doubt we have them both, chiggers are very hard to see even as adults and I'm told only the larvae bite and they're almost impossible to see......so if you get rashes and never noticed anything on you it's probably chigger bites. I've personally been covered in small tick looking things and was told, and am pretty sure those were Texas Lone star tick larvae...so either way treat your clothing with permethrin to keep all that stuff off of yourself.

hey, anyone can wear tube socks...but it takes a man who's comfortable with himself to pull them all the way up.
-
they shouldn't be building stands on State lands and damaging trees, that much I know..........
-
certainly no more wrong then building permanent stands on State Land.......are they old or new? but you also have to consider someone may do the same to you.
-
thing is, to me it doesn't look like the random atv rider just blasting through the area, but two guys sightseeing and looking for something..........."and this is where I shot that deer last year".
-
see if you can find an older office trailer in that size range.........they're on wheels so they can't be considered permanent structures.

Which state forest do you think has the least hunting pressure in the state
jjb4900 replied to LJC's topic in General Hunting
the state land I hunt has very little pressure...... -
is that before or after he hands you back your beer???
-
yes....but if you start playing with the main ingredients it may alter the outcome, easier to just add more thickener.
