  1. hey, you gave it a shot...what else can one do? and yes it will die from a stomach shot, will you find it? probably not........you are joking, right?
  2. you really should give yourself more credit as a hunter if you're that successful....and you never got back to me on whether or not he puts deer in the roadways to get killed or even worse kill or seriously injure innocent people, after all HE does have the final say.

    Calls

I will say, that I have tried a variety of calls on deer that were in sight.....never had one spook because of it, more so that they just didn't respond at all.
  4. I'm set with Slick Tricks for that...have no intention of changing. The move to mechanical broadheads poses the dilemma. The crossbow will come out the two days before regular season if I don't tag one with my compound...so don't want to break the bank dicking around with different heads.
  5. people in general tend to grind my gears....
  6. I thought that if you walked into an emergency room that you couldn't be refused treatment....
  7. that's ballsy being told no and still coming on your land...he can't even play stupid at that point.
  8. when I was with Deer Search and had my tracking dogs, I once tracked a hunters deer right to the other guy who was dragging it out......he apparently watched the deer die in front of him in the morning and at the end of the day climbed down from his stand and tagged it. He gladly turned it over to the guy who shot it.....I don't think there were any ill intentions on his part other than not wanting to see it go to waste.
  9. I've found deer that were killed by hunters and were still there the next day and eventually wound up as predator food....stuff happens. But by the time you find out that no one is coming for them it's too late to salvage.
  10. oh, I'm not talking about taking a deer that was freshly shot and running over and throwing a tag on it to claim it....
  11. I don't think you would be lying, the tag doesn't ask how YOU killed it, does it? just when it was taken......
  12. I know, I know.....was actually expecting a response from you....it really was a big decision to get one and was not going to, but after it was bought for me as a gift I made the choice to give it a whirl.....
  13. well, I would guess that if you stumble upon a dead deer and feel like sticking your tag on it you can? not sure why you would but to some the meat is more important then the kill....
  14. I agree 100%, the last thing they want to do is babysit a bunch of grownups.........like I mentioned about the 2 roadkills I picked up, I called the HQ and they said just take it and someone will stop by when they get a chance, took my name and gave me theirs and I went on my way.....it's pretty much the hunters who get boners (sorry) over finding dead deer on the side of the road or in the woods, that enthusiasm isn't usually shared by the ECO....got a crime to report? sure call them and they'll get there...eventually.
  15. so, now I'm sitting here with a pack of Rage and a pack of Spitfire Crossbow Broadheads, both unopened...........which do I return?
  16. saw that one on another hunting site.......that one claimed it to be a roadkill from out of state.
  17. I'm not big on smiling for photos of any sort.......it never looks natural when I try to smile on command, sorry if that offends some.
  18. do they turn their testicles in at the same time???
  19. so for you guys/gals who lay scent trails, use calls or anything other than just sitting and hoping for things to happen.......what is it you do that you swear works? not just a one time fluke, but things that have been working on a fairly regular basis.
  20. thanks, now I need to go take a shower.............but not the first time I heard of that.
  21. maybe they could just relocate them on an "as needed basis".......hunter orders half a dozen deer for opening week, at a price of course, and DEC fills the order from the overpopulated area.
  22. some people depend on the government for everything......
  23. I'm pretty sure the hunting guide just covers things that occur in normal hunting situations.........not the 1000 other "what if"s" that pop up.
  24. source? I don't doubt that to be accurate, but how did you get that info?
