  1. sounds like your morning really went down the shit*er..
  2. yeah, it's the City folk who drive up on the weekends to rip all the copper out of peoples cabins to sell for scrap....happens all the time.
  3. a good piece of advice is to attach a small sharp knife to your harness......for years I kept mine in my pack until I realized I could never get to it if I fell and needed to cut myself free of the harness.
  4. my method is usually thinking I'm being quiet until I see the white flags running the other way......my problem is my feet are usually one step ahead of my eyes. I won't even attempt it unless the weather is windy, rainy or snowing.
  5. so, did you decide on whether or not you should go with lighter arrows?
  6. that would probably change my pattern too.....
  7. had this guy get waffled right in front of me a few weeks ago......had I know I could have told you where, he was a little on the ratty side, but very fresh.
  8. much easier then the morning sit too, at least it has an ending............the morning? never know when to end it.
  9. I've had it happen as well only a few feet down the tree and no injury, but it does wake you up......
  10. I have that same talent.........my early Duck hunting guns are quite the pieces of art, who knew they made special screwdrivers for working on guns and that wire wheels aren't the best choice for removing surface rust?......water pump pliers and vise grips? no better tools for taking off the magazine tube cap.....oh, almost forgot, did something really bad to a bolt action .22 once....wound up having to cut it into small pieces to dispose of it after my Father found out.
  11. if you buy the bow and muzzleloader privilege, you should get an either sex tag and an antlerless only tag......
  12. I wonder how many people have no idea that sunset varies across the State.....
  13. I can't imagine that a deer can distinguish between an arrow and a stick that falls from a tree........unless there are other factors thrown in.
  14. luckily Sunrise can vary greatly across the State......I'm sure that deer was taken in an area with an earlier Sunrise. Sunrise at home for me today is 7:03, in Buffalo? 7:29.

    Youth Bow

Bow is taken....thanks to all who inquired about it.
  16. right, why not put nuisance tags into the hands of hunters in these areas? I know that's taboo to many, but why just give them to farmers? if it's a problem, then give more leeway to the hunters in areas where deer are a problem.

    Youth Bow

anyone on here looking for a bow for a youth? I have an older PSE Spyder with a new string and cable that I no longer have a use for. I know several REPUTABLE members have posted their kids shooting bows. This would be a great starter bow for any kid that would take them into their first year or two of hunting. I know I was taken once, but I still like to help out when possible...let me know if you fit the bill and I'm more than happy to help out....no strings attached, but if you can pay for shipping, that's all I want if that's all you can afford....oh. and I will be more selective of the person I send it to.
  18. I don't begrudge anyone, hunter or non hunter, who won't allow access, that's their right...I wouldn't. The land access problem will NEVER be solved unless they offer some incentive for those who do. It's a dead issue as it stands now.
  19. ahh, no great loss....just wonder how it feels to hunt with a bow he got the way he did.
  20. is it a matter of that or just people don't want to share? how many guys on here with land would be willing to allow others on it to hunt? my guess is not many if any at all.
  21. crows, vultures and seagulls eat dead animals at a much higher rate then Eagles and Hawks...why no concerns about them, are they not dying off as well?....
  22. I knew guys that used to pickle them..but probably too much work for just one or two.....can't it hurt to try cooking one like a beef tongue.
  23. but do they have other ways they are attached to the rock? I don't know that's why I was asking, and I would think that the average rock climber is in just a tad bit better shape then the average hunter....most hunters have a way of stopping themselves from hitting the ground, but no plan as what to do once they are hanging there, whether it be right side up or upside down.....just a thought.
