Great Intro! You wrote what I stand for also, but never was able to put it to words like you did. I LIVE and HUNT and FISH in the Adirondacks. I was fortunate to purchase 4 acres, on a dead-end road, bordering over 100,000 thousand acres of forever wild ADK land. At the dead end is a beautiful "Pond" of about 700 acres in size and it is one mile away from the "Camp" I built. You need to pass my place to get into the pond. Big ADK bucks which elude me most of the time, BUT, typically I shoot one of something every other year.

Any recommendations what to plant in a wooded clearing? I have 4 acres bordering over 110,000 acres. Have several does hanging out and bucks crossing my acreage. Can not get equipment to the clearing to do any good. Trail camera shows good movement throughout the year. Past weekend - young buck!

There are several "homemade" recipes for permytherin based sprays -I am considering making a batch.

oops....forgot to add the cost of the primer for the second reload. Winchester 209 - $47.99/1000 or .05 cents per shell. Of course I did not include sales tax or shipping costs! 16 GAUGE SHELLS 1st Reloads = $9.82 2nd Reloads = $7.57

Culvr Creek Hunt Club - you are absolutely correct. When I get to the second reloading I can put $0 for the hulls......this will give me a $3 dollar drop per box! So now I know my goal is to miss a lot when I go hunting.

Here is my calculation on cost to reload 16 Gauge per shell/per box of 25: 16 GAUGE SHELLS POWDER 16 Gauge Unique # of shells Cost Cost/Shell 7000 20.5 341 $24.00 $0.07 WAD 16 Gauge 250 $7.99 $0.03 HULL 16 Gauge - primed Cheddite # of hulls 100 $13.79 $0.14 # of cards Overshot Card 500 $7.99 $0.02 SHOT - 1 1/8 oz 25 Pounds 357 $48.75 $0.14 TOTAL PER SHELL $0.39 TOTAL PER BOX = 25 $9.82

ooops.....posted too soon. I do not know whether this is a good price or not, but my choices were limited. Your comments?

Precision Reloading carries both Downrange & Gualandi wads for 16 ga. as well as Cheddite and Fiocchi hulls. Graf's is another source and carries the Claybuster brand wad as well as Cheddite hulls. http://www.precisionreloading.com/ http://www.recobstar....cfm/2,204.html (DR16 wads) http://www.grafs.com...categoryId/438? (Claybuster wads) http://www.grafs.com...categoryId/413? (hulls) http://www.crownbull...-516234500.html (hulls) Hi Setters4life- thanks again for the above websites. I checked them all, but most are out of stock. The good info is that the wads and primed Cheddite hulls I ordered are great. Then I ran out of shot! I live in a small community and shot is not to be had. Finally found a website, www.rotometals.com that sells 25# bag of all sizes of shot. Paid 97.50 for 50 pounds of #6 with free shipping to my house. I do not know whether this is a good price or not, but m

Why Did we Creat HuntingNY.com?

Well said NFA-ADK! We live in world today where it's the rare situation where individuals get involved and take care of business. I do not wish to be pressured into hiding anything just because of the criminal element that seems to be slowly growing in many of our areas. I live in a very small community where just about everyone knows everyone who lives here. Work is done with a handshake, not contracts. You make a mess and lie and fool people, you might as well move away. So I do have a hard time why some people do not list some personal information on this web site that gives readers another "vision" of the writer. Almost seems as if they are trying to hide - (here come the flames) Granted the info you mentioned SHOULD NOT be posted as it does not pertain to this type of site. But surely, any advice or recommendation can be weighed by the age of the poster. Suggestions and advice from a 12 year old is not the same from someone that has 50 years of hunting experience. -
HMM...I will be right over. LOL
-
Oh, I almost forgot, you can email me at [email protected] LOL - Believe me I will respond with my address where you can ship any excess back straps and/or elk burger.
-
Well I see that I am being somewhat outdone with my "Tube Steaks" LOL. So, to help me out, please send any excess back straps or elk burger to me in Plattsburgh, NY. If you need the address please let me know and I will send it to you. LOL

Thanks for the information...I'll take a look at the various web sites you provided. Does anyone know where I can buy lead shot nearest to Plattsburgh N.Y.? Albany? Watertown?

OK....LOL....now I understand. I did not realize the high numbers of them. LOL -
Yup - that sounds like me. Lately I had some All Beef Hebrew National hot dogs and they were great on the BBQ. I never had Boars Head hot dogs - hmmm.....do you buy those at a deli that caries Boars Head meats or they are packaged and available at some larger grocery stores?

I recently joined this site and really enjoy the various subjects. Picked up some really good advice on my needs and I visit here at least every night during the work week. Unfortunately I am still working and my free time is somewhat limited. One thing that I don't really understand, but respect, is what most members do not fill out their personal info. Age seems to be one of the one that seems to be always blank as is their location. Any ideas from you as to why this is? -
I also like Hot Dogs and I have a few favorite brands. I especially like them on the BBQ, gas or charcoal, and a little burnt. Then, some good spicy mustard, like a Dijon or spicy brown. Not that yellow crappy mustard that comes in the plastic bottle! Good sauerkraut, mustard and good all beef hot dogs. What is your favorite brand?

There's plenty of ticks up here in the North Country. That is the real "Upstate" LOL Last year I loaded up my deer in the back of my SUV and when I got home I picked at least 8 of those suckers running around. I never used Sawyers before but did buy and sprayed my camo before going Turkey hunting last week around Hunter, NY. Didn't get any on me but then again I heard from various people that the tick problem is not that evident in that area. Hmmm.....maybe I should bring some down from my area. LOL sort of like re-stocking trout. LOL

Welcome back to New York.

Received the new hulls but I had to order new wads as the Remington SP16 did not work well. So I ordered new wads (Commander) AND over shot cards. Today I loaded first with the new wads and hulls and they came out good. When I used the overshot card they came out even better. Used 1 1/8 oz 7.5 shot. I tried using the Remington SP-16 AND the new wads AND the over shot card and they also came out well.

No, there is no Haz-Mat fee - I understand it is the same for LOADED shells.
-
Got 2 bags of Cheddite 16 gauge hulls last week. Unfortunately, the old Remington SP16 wads leave too much room on top to provide a good crimp. I had to order different wads that will work with the Rem Sp16's. Oh well, live and learn.

Great area here as well as where you are in the Finger Lakes. Besides hunting in the Adirondack PARK my son and I also hunt private farms between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes.

H..y s..t - - -i counted 64 deer - are you sure that your parents aren't raising them? LOL Since you can't get there that often.....I may have some free time .....LOL

Looks like a real strong antler growth and the deer seems to be about 4-5 years old. Have you seen him before
