I've had the best gobbling on mornings in the high 30's/ low 40's and a mix between calm and overcast or blue bird days .... Not so much when it warms up , but then again that doesn't typically happen till towards the end of season , so .... I haven't had much luck with overnight storms that let up before light , I don't think they like being drenched on the roost around here , sissy's lol... She def will ... Last spring around this time I spooked a hen off her nest walking out , she had burrowed herself under a thick grass/brush pile that sits right next to my entry n exit point to the woods , n wouldn't you know it she scared the crap outa me the following morning at o' dark thirty in the same spot , had to find a new place to get in n out as not to bother her anymore ...

Not a gobble to be had today , no hens talking , nothing seen but another hunter stalking my calls ... Guess I'll take the compliment haha... Was absolutely gorgeous morning too , no wind , sunny , and 50's ... I don't get it ... I've had gobbles on most days that weren't near as nice as today , but hey when we think we understand these sob's , think again .... Got turned around n I'm drenched in sweat... Finally stumbled on a gobble but it's the kind like , which way was that ... Sat down called ... 10 min later it comes from behind me , &&@", so I swing around to the other side of the tree ... Nothing .... Sounded like he was about 75 yds out with some thick stuff between me n him and a little rise out in front of me so I don't think he saw me , but he vanished , grrrr .... SOB's are just messin with me now! Took a drive to check out a block of woods to see where I was going in the morning ... So I'm driving looking for a good place to park n walk in and a gorgeous tom walks right out from the woods in front of my truck with his paint brush blowin in the wind .... Crosses the street onto private land n just stands out there in the grass field , like what , can't touch me now! Guess I know where I'll be hunting for the rest of the season ...
