Guess I did leave the details out ... Just a really healthy 2 year old , 8 in beard, 7/8 in Spurs , and didn't take a scale to him but he was on the heavier side ....

Years ago I had a bird beating up my decoy n ripped a hole in it so that had to be ended , rushed the shot at 20 yds n he took off , rolled him on the second shot after a few strides... The only legit miss that I did not get the bird was back in 2005 on an Osceola that was content standing in the wide open fresh burn some 55+ yds out ... Came in so quick all I had time to put out was my hen decoy , so after 25 minutes or so of him standin out there gobblin wondering why the hell she ain't comin to daddy I let er rip... Bird flew off crashing into a pine tree , fell to the ground , and took off.... Searched and searched but no sign ... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And BOOM goes the dinamite ! Had two gobblin on either side of me below the ridge I'm on ... They shut up bout an hour ago ... Soft called him in , came in silent , started puttin and I waited till he popped behind a tree , raised up, when he stuck his head out boom, paced it off at 39 yds ... Think I screwed the pooch on this one already , got here a little late as it was starting to glow out... Had a bird gobbling good walking in but I think he picked me off slippin through the woods even though he was probly a good 100 yds off... Wow, not 5 min later here he comes "stalking" right down the middle of the trail with his bow... Fricken 7:30 and he was still gobbling , what the hell is he pokin around for.... Told him once he's gobblin good and getting closer , SHUT UP! Didn't seem to understand that ! 10 note yelpin at him every time he gobbled ... Went out for a scout in the refuge on Saturday , only one bird gobbling , but boy he was a talker , saw him fly down alone a couple hundred yds off , worked his way right past me a 20 yds ... Heard two shots a little ways away n he gobbled at both ... must have gobbled 50 or so times... Just a lonely two year old ... Too bad my permit for that land is second half of season ... Depends for me. First available shot I roll em.. Preferably wait till he comes out of strutt but if he gives me a full frontal view , even if his head is tucked he's history , but only if he's close , say within 15 yds , the pattern is so tight at that point aim for the beak n never really had an issue with pellets in the breasts. I've had a few heartbreakers that went bad giving them a cluck and all out haul ass outa there ... But I try to let it play out , if I think he's loosing interest or smells something fishy I'll give a few soft yelps so he sticks his kisser up to look ... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
