  1. Does feel go in the stand, feels right, fresh rub 10 yds away, we'll see if he shows his face tonight
  2. i agree, as a "younger" generation hunter, never had the privilege of hunting with anything else, never had a problem with it... maybe a learning curve? but i've shot other birds with lead n same thing, never had a problem, maybe a little more practice would help?
  3. gotta buy a specialty choke to shoot x-full steel, non of the factory chokes will support steel that tight... and its not like i shoot out of a $100 + choke, its a kick's x full ( have one for duck n one for turkey) been working fabulous for years!
  4. At least a full choke is needed , I hunt with an extra full , more peletts on target and extends ur range a little, I would also switch to number three or four(more pellets overall) I save the two's for windy days ...
  5. Such a shame, hate even seeing a doe go to waste on the side a the road
  6. Had two doe's come with 10 min of legal time left, no bucks in tow... So decided to take a crack at one, they pinned me in the tree and after a staring match of about 5 min they settled down, came to full draw with them at 10 yds, clipped a small twig and clear over her back .... Oh well glad it's was a cleen miss instead of a bad hit... Can't wait to get out next weekend , bunch a new scrapes on the way in in 8g and a new one that wasn't there on the way in .... Things are bout ta get interesting
  7. Passed multiple scrapes on the way in that weren't there a couple days ago and then one popped up ten yds from my stand.... After this storm blows through it should get crazy!!!
  8. Well back at it again in the rain, cold, light wind... Got a lil spike feedin out in front of me right now so, somewhat encouraging for movement in this crappy weather
  9. well, saw NO deer from stand this evening, but walkin out got busted by a doe... that's about it.....
  10. All settled in, gonna sit till dark , sprinkling... We'll see, I'm hopin they'll b on there feet with this storm movin in!!! Good luck all
  11. Just passed on a little spike, only thing I've seen so far
  12. Did see a little forkhorn on the side a the road pullin up to my spot at 5:30
  13. Well , perfect morning here in 8G and not a thing in sight, what gives,...
  14. as far as im concerned, as long as you killed the deer in the most ethical way possible(which in retrospect is more humane than most of the methods used to kill store bought meet these days) , and showed the utmost respect in utilizing as much of the deer as possible, without some picture of macho bravado that is unnecessary like some of the TV productions these days.. mother nature has given you a gift, and MOST just don't get it!!!!!!! I get posts all the time on pics of deer "what did bamby do to YOU!!" i respond, WHAT DID THE COW, CHICKEN, FISH, TURKEY etc do to YOU!" at least we have to work our tales off to put sustainable food on the table instead of takin a quick trip to the supermarket, slappin it in the oven, on the stove, or grill, and magically dinner is served... THEY JUST DONT GET IT!!!!!! forget em...
  15. OOUUUCCHHHH! i sympathize with that young man... guess he's outa the gene pool , lol
  16. headed out in the a.m. . ... supposed to be a beautiful morning in genessee county... rain up until 5 and windy, around 6 temps in the mid 40's, wind at 8 mph ESE, and rain gone, supposed to carry on into mid morning,, gonna hit the tree where i almost stuck a decent buck tuesday evening... bunch a doe's around too, im prayin 10 hrs from now i'll be takin pics! good luck all....
  17. Well got outa class tday and I told myself i wasn't gonna hunt till the last week of the month.... but like all of us I was lyin to myself... so went n got in the stand at 2pm.... gorgeous afternoon, 45 degrees, 8-10 mile wsw wind... perfect for my tree.... and not a thing in sight but squirrels, geese, and ducks.... 5:30 pm... here leaves rustle over my left shoulder behind me... what the hell?!? thick nasty back there, was not expecting at all to come from in there, never fails!!! and this guy step out at 20 YDS broadside!!! well stupid me I didn't trim two tiny little limbs on the backside of my tree and wouldn't ya know it, the ONLY thing preventing me from puttin one through his heart.... stood there checkin out the scenery for about 30-45 seconds... figure he's gonna come out to the right in front of me, instead goes left n sadly watched those horns disappear ever so slowly.... haven't gotten any pics of him since august, awesome hunt though, only deer i'd seen all day... glad to see he's out n about in the same area... needless to say those two little limbs are GONE now!!!
  18. shot a doe last saturday at qaurter to six and it was blowin 15-20! overall im not a fan of the wind especially for spooky bucks to be wandering around, but the doe's for sure don't care most of the time....
  19. Hell, with that size tree u should b gravy, I've climbed tree's a third a the size(saftey strap in tow) n been fine!
  20. As a member recently from Florida, they are a necessity and Never go out without one, kinda gettin used to this cold weather n no bugs thing
  21. Just make sure u take the time to put ur weight on it n sink the teeth in before moving one or the other... I have the open shot n love it.. Took a file to the teeth n put a little better point on em, they bite real well now even on smooth slippery stuff...
