  1. True true.... I normally start packin up around 10:30 / 11...
  2. I'm all about doin my homework tee bug ... It's just I feel like I'm gonna be covered up in guys in the morning cause everything is so accessible unlike where I'm from where it takes a little doin to get way back to the spots where the lazy's are not gonna be !!! Thanks for the feedback !
  3. Well deer season was a success, but being my first turkey up here I'm a bit concerned! Coming from Florida with huge WMA's , gotta love them osceolas... (30,000 acres n up) compared to here I'm not thrilled about not having my hard to get to spots like down south! Seems like u can walk clear across any wma up here in an hour ..... Soooo, how's the turkey Huntin on public land ? Probly goin to canadaway creek, zoar valley, or Carlton hill... Havnt seen a ton a sign , so I guess we'll just scout scout scout n wing it this year untl I get a feel for the pressure around here....
  4. May be a stupid question, but I don't see a map for spring turkey, the whole states open right!?! In western New York
  5. Where was this? Grew up in Florida n miss the hog action in the off season !
  6. Freak nasty by micheal Waddell ... Nice rasp to it and most forgiving mouth call I've found so far... Just to jump in on earlier posts, I agree that whatever they wanna hear that day is what they wanna hear, I carry a box for windy days, a slate for soft calling , and 2 or three diff mouth calls which I primarily use... I've killed more birds with mouth calls though. If u get the right one they sound the most realistic out of em all, especially if u get a little rasp goin on ... Good luck this season
  7. Ya I'm burnin a whole in the living room rug , my buddies down in Florida already have 3 birds down in the first two days n I got another two months to lay the smack down on them thunder chickens ... Come on green , warm , sunny spring already
  8. could be for both, slugs with a traditional shotgun scope , and when turkey roles around swap it out for a red dot!
  9. thats perfect , thanks Eddie! Cheap enough too and I like not havin to put a drill to it for the rail! Plus I can take it off easy enough if I wanna wing shoot with it someday
  10. Lookin to put a rail on my Winchester 12 ga. Pump... Anyone have an idea on a price range from experience? In tonawanda , any suggestions on a shop? Been wantin to scope it for years but never got off my but n did it... Thnx
  11. Well aware of that my friend , well aware... But it does give that slim chance for some wise buck to hide in a spot long enough for me to find him in some hard to get to spot n put an arrow in him .. Lot a lazy bow hunters out there ... I love bow season because of it ... I've got my hard earned hard to get to spots that have produced and could produce better bucks should they at least be given a chance... Don't get me wrong, what we have in place right now does affect what I shoot cause I know what's in the area by cams, n if I don't shoot what I feel is a good buck given the state land n pressure I have to work with , well hell I would not be able to shoot a buck ... There are three bucks ive been following that have made it last to close to a hundred on some very heavily hunted land in 8g soooo... the chance is all I ask for , n I'll find em ... Thanks for the input though... And this Applies obviously more so to public hunters ... But hey I KNOW most don't care "brown n down".... BS !!!!! I don't mind shooting doe's ! Great eating , fills my freezer , but when it comes to bucks , it's not just another deer , that attitude will never get u ur best buck or the buck of ur dreams !!
  12. I'd like to say it was opening day when I shot my first doe of the season , or even the doe I shot the 13th of oct, or even the buck I shot 2 days before the bang sticks came out but it's gotta be the 11 th of October... Snuck out for an evening hunt ... Early I had squirrell all over me, killin me cause they sounded like deer in every direction , kept me on my toes for sure , needless to say the bow never got hung and stayed in my lap... Then had a fox come in about 4 o'clock n busted out a there, really windy that evening but somehow I managed to here some leaves rustle behind me.. Looked over my shoulder n out of the thicket stood my number one buck, bow in hand, there he stands at 15 yds but I neglected to trim two twigs on the back side of my tree as I was not anticipating an arrival from that direction , go figure... He stands there scopin things out for a minute n then trotts dead away from me, no bleats , grunts , hey's would stop him n get em to angle back at me ,, watched heart broken as he trotted off n never saw him for the rest of the season... Even though I shot three deer in bow this season this was the best day because I still replay that moment in my head as I lay down at night wishing I would have trimmed those two twigs.... Would have had all the time in the world to smoke him but that's what gets my blood boiling n I'll be there next year for a rematch for sure !!!!
  13. U DUECHE... There ARE some of us public "deer" hunters out there just eager to see some bucks over a hundred inches .... Ain't no food plot , genetically enhanced bs goin on there...
  14. Hit the woods now! Just scouted / squirrell hunted n improved upon this past seasons sets... All rubs n scrapes are still fresh enough to pinpoint this past season activity... I personally found an intersection with a three way outlet that had unbelievable rubs and a few scrapes with fresh scat and tracks only a few hundred yds from my set this year where i shot a doe and a buck ... Let's just say there 's a much bigger buck I missed out on because I never saw him do to a few hundred yds !!! I'll set a cam out now just to gage the traffic through there m then early August till the opener I'll put it back out to further refine what I'm really goin after come bow season... Now is a great time because it's all fresh sign and screw it , there gonna forget u were there come next season , minimal impact !!! I love taken strolls in the woods , always learn something new about the land I have to hunt , even if it's public which drives me more to figure out what others are too lazy to.. And THAT equals success .. It's one thing to be a good hunter on private parcels where u can control the pressure, but to be consistent on pressured public land.... Priceless !!! Even if the bucks don't break 120's due to the nature of meat hunters !!!! Good luck , just walk and observe mother nature . Love this sport till the day I die!!!!!!!
  15. I'd be for it... At least for a 3 point one side minimum ... Would at least help them get to 2 or hopefully 3 years old ... First year or two would suck for some but coming from Florida and having hunted wma's with and without restrictions u can tell the difference in the quality of bucks hangin at the check stations ...
  16. I'm in my second year of grad school for DPT and I can tell u that's gonna be quite a bit of tedious therapy... Good luck my man n hopefully u'll be in the tree healthy flinging some arrows next fall
  17. Nice! Love the brows on him and that kicker too!
  18. Sounds good, I've made it the same way but the liquid I use ginger ale ... Made pulled pork the same too , both delicious !!!
  19. Bear grills makes a bad ass machette that'll cut wood n do it all.. Search utube for a sec n there's a guy doing a camping style review on it
  20. Well thank god for the 21st century!!
  21. I understand completely... Nice gun, have a 30-06 by savage n cant complain one bit! if ya can't get a good offer n I hope u do , I have no problem throwing 300 at it as a last resort , good luck my man...
  22. shot a doe opening morning of archery, had some nice bucks on cam , but never saw a one of em... lots of scrapes n rubs , but never saw em.... also hunt the alabama swamps in Genessee n shot a doe n a buck outa there, lot a good spots that are hard to get to out there... but gun season forget about it, if you don't get lucky the first day or two.... but im gonna try n get out there, seen two fox on stand, and a couple sets of yote tracks walkin around... we'll see what happens...
