12-13 must have completed bow and hunter safety course. Accompanied by parent or mentor type person.

My son is 9 and will be 10 in january. He is so ready to hunt with a bow. He wants to go now! But he has to wait til 12 i believe. Ive seen other states that have no minimum age. Why is ny so high?

Im against mandatory. If you choose to voluntarily do it then awesome. I pay for my license and tags just like other hunters. I dont tell people what to shoot. And i would like the same respect. Me and 3 other guys hunt a parcel of land and we are overjoyed when someone shoots a doe or a spike or a 3 point. With that said we have all seen a button buck the size of a dog running around. Most of us have had him at anywhere from 5 to 15 yards broadside. We have said dont shoot him. Not because he may grow into a huge buck, but because it almost seems too easy. Not sure about your 1 1/2 year old bucks, but here they are smart. For us its about the hunt and the meat. We always welcome the big buck but we dont focus solely on him.

Had a nice buck run into the doe bleat yesterday. Tons of fresh scrapes popping up along with some nice rubs. Shaping up to be a good season!

Nope, went back to my original spot. My dad was hunting his stand and i wouldve been cutting him off. Tomorow morning im gonna hunt it though!

Hit the bleat in between the wind gusts this morning...biggest buck ive seen in years came crashing across the power line cut into my ground spot. 4 guys hunting today, 3 saw deer. They are up an moving even in the wind!

I have a ground blind and after consulting with dad we may put it up in there.

Stuff does come up. I got out alot during the last few weeks but with a new job looming ive been taking care of tying up loose ends. I always say ya cant get em from the couch...but winds like that dont give me a warm and fuzzy being 15 feet up ha!

Two weather sources say 25 to 35....maybe ill do the brakes on my truck tomorow instead!
