  1. I prefer some wind to. Light winds as you said like to swirl around. Ill take 10mph too
  2. Any thoughts? Im hoping it picks up a bit. Cooler temps mixed with some light rain...could be the perfect combination!
  3. Id hunt a rub or scrape line. May not be the buck that made it but other bucks check rubs and scrapes. I think this weekend the action will pick up a bit. And dont underestimate hunting from 10-2. When alot of hunters are coming out of the woods sometimes thats the best time to be in your stand.
  4. Not sure i would jump right into estrous scent, but maybe just some straight doe pee. Im gonna use a drag with it this weekend just to see what the deal is.
  5. I have a feeling alot of pics coming this weekend!
  6. Ive decided to not hunt that stand at all this weekend. If i do it might be sunday afternoon. Only thing thats maybe a saving grace is when the bucks start really searching out does...they will hopefully travel thru this spot. Had a monster chase a doe thru last season, i couldnt get him to stop. 15 yards and he had one thing on his mind!
  7. Apparently i cant quote lol but i agree with Predate. I sometimes tinkle in the scrapes too
  8. I use to shoot 125 grain aftershocks....man those things were nasty! I think you can still find 125grain heads around just seems alot of shops are after the speed hype and 100gr is about as high as they go.
  9. X2 this is a good strategy for mock scrapes. Doesnt hurt for you to tinkle in it either
  10. Its gonna keep me awake trying to figure it out! Not sure what time i should go in and start putting together the blind. Not sure itll make a difference seeing as i dont plan on hunting it until saturday mid morning.
  11. The old trolley bed road is really straight and ends in the thick area next to the swamp. I killed a nice turkey this spring about 50 yards from where the old stand is. As well as a trail thats used fairly heavily. I can envision it in my mind but tomorow will tell me more about how i want to set it up.
  12. For making the blind or hunting it?
  13. My best bet is gonna be the treeseat with some limbs and whatnot in front and behind me. Always been on my bucket list to get one from the ground during archery season. I think itll pan out
  14. Good deal. Im not gonna be superquiet tomorow but come saturday ill sneak in with as little noise as possible
  15. Its pouring here in 8f. Im just trying to figure out the best plan of attack. Either strap my treeseat on and build a small groundblind around me, or grab my hang on and build a ladder to it. Im thinking the treeseat will be less intrusive and allow me to hunt it saturday night.
  16. Tough question. We have a few stands that you could hunt everyday and always see deer. Then again a few of the stands if you spook a deer, itll be a week before you see anymore.
  17. Im lacking a stand. I have a hang on but no steps or ladder. But i may be able to come up something. Buddy shot a giant 9 point back there a few years ago....sitting on a treeseat. So might try the same.
  18. Im gonna do it tomorow. Then possibly hunt it sunday.
  19. Thats the problem....only way in is an old trolley bed road. All overgrown and im gonna make a ton of noise going in. Might be a good spot for an all day sit though. There used to be a stand in there but it eventually fell down. Nobody has hunted there this season, and im almost positive nobody will hunt it.
  20. Well i lost another place to hunt tonight. Puts me down to one spot left. Im rolling with it but alot of the stands have been hunted hard so far this season. So theres a thick swamp area that seems to always produce a good buck and does every year. Is it too late to put a stand near it or on the edge of it?
