  1. Probably right! Im a meat hunter. Dont get me wrong id love to shoot a big buck....but my freezer needs filling more than i need another mount on the wall!
  2. Not the ones around here! They keep me on my toes!
  3. Heck yeah! All i kept thinking was i got you!
  4. Not sure id have any luck! So ive been having quite the merry go round with these 2 mature does. They always come in together, always bust me together. Well i got in to my ground hunting spot around 4 this afternoon. Sat about 45 minutes and bam....there she was. All by herself and trying everything to get me to move. No dice girl. Staring contest for a good ten minutes. She then gives up an start walking towards my shooting lane! Two more steps, just two more steps so i can go full draw...she stops. Then bounds twice and walks away. youve got to be kidding me. I hear a whistle behind me, my dad is headed to his stand and has to pass behind my by about 30 yards to get to his. Meh it is what it is! Still nice to know they are still moving!
  5. Seriously? Yall need to grow up. So tired of reading all this bs. Go play on facebook or myspace or twittter. Keep it on topic or go private message. Nobody cares how big and bad you think you are. Making threats from behind a keyboard....wow

Same thing happened to me last night. Was like i wasnt even there lol
  7. Exactly. Have about four guys that hunted a plot of land last weekend. More than enough room for everyone. I saw nothing while everyone else saw a bunch of deer. Just the way it goes sometimes!
  8. Thats what i did last night. Ive been seeing deer movement but nothing within range. Sat a new spot and saw my first "real" buck within 2 minutes of being in the stand. Never hurts to have a change of scenery either!
  9. Not getting lashed. Ive experienced it before and no matter biology or what have you, i know what i experienced. Never hurts to ask. I try to learn something new about wildlife and hunting in general every chance possible
  10. I dont disagree with whats been said. But i feel ive been thru a lull in late oct/early november. Deer were there then they seemed to vanish. Eventually sightings increased and all was good. Couldve been food hunting pressure or they went on a vacation. But i have seen it before. Just my experience in my area, probably isnt the same all over.
  11. I know there always seems to be a lull during spring turkey season. Not sure if the same holds true for deer. I do agree about the buck movement though. Last night was the first time i saw actual horns in the woods, that was around 4pm. So maybe they are moving mid day. I will say he was sticking tight to thick stuff and wanted no part of grunts or bleats. Figured he was walking away might as well see if he will come back.
  12. A myth? Maybe, maybe not. I can remember years where we would hunt the first week and see deer everytime out. Then sometimes the rest of october we would see squat. But for the most part i do believe its an old wives tale.
  13. Not here. Deer have been moving pretty much all day.
  14. Ill go down after i crawl outta the woods on nov 1! 8f or 8j is what im after!
  15. Wow quick response! Yes you can apply, just pay the 10$ fee in person.
  16. Ive heard varying stories so i sent an email to dec to ask.
  17. Ok im going out on a limb and asking this...only because this is the first year i missed the oct 1 deadline. On nov 1 i can pay the 10$ and still get doe tags right? Even though i missed the first draw?
  18. That on crappy mornings i can be awake before the alarm and ready to go! But on good mornings you literally need a tractor to drag me out of bed lol. Woke up this morning to nasty wind that wont allow me to hunt any of my closeby stands. Oh well guess ill wait til this evening to see how the weather shapes up!
  19. I think we tend to overthink and over analyze too much. I miss being a beginner sometimes.
  20. Too bad all i saw was a really big 4 point. Couldve been a 6 but i couldnt see browtines. I had literally been in this new stand maybe 2 minutes when i looked to my left and saw a bush moving...bush turned out to be antlers rubbing a tree lol. As i got out for the evening i paced it off...35 yards and he was broadside. Makes me wish i was still shooting light and fast carbon arrows, 25 is my max. Judging by body and head size...probably a 2.5 year old or older. Nice mass to the horns, and had he come closer i wouldve taken him.
