30-06 grain choice??
HuntOrBeHunted replied to HuntOrBeHunted's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Lot of people using fusion rounds with good results i'm going to have to look into them. At a 100 yards whats your guy's grouping size? -
I'm sure theres a fair amount of people on this website that own a 30-06. What bullet do you use? And the real question I have is what grain? I use 150 grain and i'm thinking about jumping up to 165 and i'm trying to find a nice bullet I can stick with. And input?

Way to stick with it untill a sweet victory. Good job brother.

Trigger Pull weight question?
HuntOrBeHunted replied to HuntOrBeHunted's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I was reading threw the article and it seems like most others i've seen some good stuff don't get me wrong. A lot of people seem to go to the accutrigger, I looked into them and don't like the fact that it's relying on a little spring to fire. I feel that it could jar out and is just a weak set up. I'm going to bring it to the local gunsmith sometime soon. It's apart now and I can see were the metal moves when I cock the bolt and it grinds on the sear making it harder to load a round A freind of mine has the same gun and it's much easier to load and way smoother to shoot. I might even call savage arms and see if the would repair it. It's been like this since I bought it. -
Trigger Pull weight question?
HuntOrBeHunted replied to HuntOrBeHunted's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
30-06 Savage Arms model 111. I wasn't really wanting to do it myself but after looking it up thought it could be possible. I did a google search and seen that it is common problem with them model 111's. I'll either be getting a new trigger or just bring it to a local gunsmith. -
I'll be out for the last single say of bow. Can't get one sitting home lol.. Good luck all.

Heck yea Larry sounds sweet that's what we did was build a berm a big one.. By hand lol but it was all worth it. And we built a bunker in the ground for yote hunting. Are you hand feeding a deer in your profile picure lol thats pretty sweet!!

Has anyone ever shaved some metal off to make a lighter trigger pull on ther rifle?? I have a rifle and I hate how hard it is to pull the trigger it's the only gun I own that I cant get a really tight consistant grouping out of, and I have owned it for some years and spent a fair amount of time at the range with it. I know I can replace the trigger but they cost a little over 150 dollars for one at this point i'm not sure I would want to invest that kind of money in a rifle that hasn't impressed me. Anyone ever do this??

I'm lucky to be close to a really nice peice of state land that a lot of local shooters and myself have set up really nice. Other than a few people leaving shells all over theres never a problem letting off as many rounds as you want. I can't wait for spring already so I can get some solid time in with my bow thats still new to me. Happy Shooting.

Congrats man post a pic if you can.

BirdHunter Muskie are a great fish to go after threw the ice as well. Same family as a northern pike i'm pretty sure.
-
I wouldn't leave my bow in the woods for anything I wouldn't get sleep at night thinking if it's still their. Lol good luck though.
-
Northern pike ice fishing is great.
-
I use the same thing for trout any time and that would be spinner mostly bright in coler and really light line is the key if you ask me. 4 to 6 pound test. Goodluck.
-
Factory barrel it is. And luckly your right I thought it was a 16 n half but it is indeed a 18 n a half. A nice rig though and one i'm still going to be building on.
-
Mine would be both my mossberg 500's. One for deer. One tactical with a 16.5 inch barrel { half inch more than the legal 16 } Pistol grip and flashligh witch I found to be very cool.

Very nice congrats. Post a pic of the mount when its done! -
Now DOC would you say that after a lot of practice shooting from a rest that when your in the feild its a different syle of shot maybe throwing one off? I'm asking because when I practice I use what I would in the feild and I hear lots of people missing deer but going to the range nailing the target with no problem.
-
Lol you aren't lying.

I hunt a nice peice of private land that borders county land in the 6p area for SZ. Theres lots of logging roads i'm assuming they heard all the shots if they were close by or maybe even got a call who knows. But yea the DEC are around thats there job. It was the first time I've seen them in the woods this year but im sure they have been around more than we know. Theres only a few DEC and a lot of land to overwatch. Im sure the DEC are out in full today as well.

I missed a doe this year I know the feeling. Biggest thing don't get discouraged. Stay after them and spend more time at the range I have been doing the same. Lots of scope practice witht the 22. rifle. Good luck brother.
