  1. i know of plenty of slammers that come from putnam each year
  2. if someone came and asked I would let them and probably help them drag it out! Me... I have learned through the years of life it is much easier to ask for forgivess then permission
  3. Eff them....stupid indians we should have killed them all. It still blows my mind how they can do whatever they want on "their" land. what a joke we should just burn it to the ground and tell them to kick rocks and follow American laws
  4. everyone i talk to thinks i am crazy for buying the expensive sitka stuff... guess what I am not too cold anymore. spend he money on good gear and you wont be cold...even the outfitter wool stuff with the wind block from cabelas works great. good gear is some of the best money i have even spent. I hate early season hunting and generally do not have much time so i tend to hunt later when its cold and have learned to spend the money on good stuff. I also worked deck on winter fishing boats....you learn real quick the cheap layers make better rags then insulation
  5. walk to stand in base layer... you never want to sweat once you sweat youre done...you are going to freeze...I like to layer up and make sure i keep my core and head worm and the rest follows suit.
  6. phone, a full water bottle, an empty water bottle, and a knife. in that order.
  7. good luck i have heard that a gut shot deer is the easiest to follow for a dog so I hope that was the case! hope you get him
  8. tree walker or ol man in that order....all others are either way to bulky or very tiny and not stable IMo
  9. no there are mockernuts, bitternuts, shellbarks and pignuts as well
  10. that is 100% not an oak gall.... its a hickory nut.
  11. steve863....pull foot out of mouth then speak.... Umpqua community college is a posted gun free zone.
  12. effective range is a relative term... i have seen guys in the bow shop group arrows out to 5 inches and say they are sighted in. if my fletchings are not touching at 20 yards something is wrong IMO. I shoot my bow to 100 yrds and keep 2-3 groups is it effective? up to who you ask...i would be willing to bet there are bow hunters that cant do that at 20 so how is his or hers 2-3" groups effective at 20 and mine are not at 100? My old 80 lb hoyt would blow through targets at 80 yards...my longbow wouldnt do that to the same target at 15 I dont see ppl bashing traditional hunters taking 15 yrd shots>? I understand the arrows passes more twigs and trees at 100 as apposed to 20 yds but if someone takes a shot at a deer in a field does it matter? Personally i think it is a jealousy thing... i read all the post here about people setting up their bows and asking why this why that? why not bring it to a great pro shop pay a few bucks and do your due diligence as a hunter to make sure things are correct? if you cant afford to have your bow set up correctly you can not afford to hunt sorry!
  13. its easier to just say 2, 3 or 4 I tend to type "u" in place on "you" does that mean I have no clue about the english language? and not all deer are born in june what if it was born in july or aug? iv seen 20 lb spotted fawns in jan. pick a fight with your wife not here bud. I am going to say 3-4 and score would be in the 110s has good mass and that will get you a few extra on the score. Shoot him and find out
  14. my fiancé and I are in the middle of planning our fall wedding for next year and I said what about the first week of october and her first reply was "isnt october blackfish season" that put the icing on the cake she is def a KEEPER!
  15. i would take the right acre over average 50. I have a place in west chester thats 200 and i hunt it with one buddy and we both agree 2 is enough for that spot. i have 4 or 5 stands and he has a couple and to be honest most of the deer are shot from 2 particular stands. I have made a move on some deer with a climber but generally to adjust for wind in a couple pinch points. I had a place in ct that was 2 acres that always had 120+ bucks there and all the does you wanted. many double kill days. and it was a small strip of woods that I was super careful and only hunted a se wind. By hunting smarter you will kill more deer. you dont need 50 or 100 acres or food plots or any of that... find the bedding, natural food source and pinch points and you will kill.
  16. id be willing to bet they are going to make some law making sure ppl use harnesses soon. Poor guy
  17. if you shoot it in the evening skin it, gut it and pack in in a cooler with ice to drop the temps asap! I had a refrigerator and I would just quarter and leave them in there for a few weeks but if you can not do that just butcher right away.
  18. deer is 3 year old all day if you ask me... shoot him if you want! bait if you want too! just dont let the knuckleheads see the pics they get angry cuz they cant even shoot dinks
  19. only thing that pisses me off is people road hunting...I would not call the cops but I would say something to the person if it was done by my house. The people playing cop and quick to call are asking for trouble, like FSW said keep your nose out of it, if not it may soon be broken. I love to see the people who want to put food plots in tiny spaces getting pissed about the guys who bait. To me there is no difference in planting some seed and dropping corn...if you ask me the idiot who dragged 50-100 lbs of corn in the woods probably did more work then the guy who kicked some leaves away and dropped a few lbs of seed. Some of you guys must be next to saints....do you really drive the speed limit everywhere too and come to a complete stop and never run a changing light? Id be willing to be some of the guys who call the ECO and police every time they see something have done their fair share of law breaking.....GROW UP
  20. bowhunting snob that does not want to see crossbows in archery, wants people to only shoot 3.5+ year olds and does not care for the pumpkin patch.
  21. people that do not want to shoot does are simply lazy where I hunt...I agree it is work to drag gut and butcher a deer, but it is all part of the sport. I cant stand it, I hunt west chester, the dink killing cap of NY. Just look at all the post.... and i will say it, its not hard to shoot a deer with a bow I love to see these guys say any deer with a bow is a trophy LOL these bows can shoot 60-80 yards all day long. Open your eyes and let the younger bucks walk, take a few does. I say if the buck is not going on the wall he gets a pass
  22. everyone wants to shoot big bucks.... even these dopy "meat hunters" and the dopy guys who donate the meat and keep their spike rack. make it a one buck for the year...and make it an earn a buck system where they want doe numbers down you have to bring in the deer to get a buck tag. Problem solved! I know this is impossible but I would like to see an age or spread min...maybe forget the spread if it has 4 on one side. but that is simply redic to think that is even possible. I wish people would get over this If I let them walk the neighbor will kill it. we would see more mature bucks...must people simply do not think they would be able to kill a smarter 3 or 4 year old so they take the great 2 year olds out of the heard. to each is own I guess, but i love the idiots who post about no nice deer but have a pile of spike and fork horn racks on display.
  23. a 150 or 1500 is hardly a truck...go with a Ford f350...hands down the best truck out there
