See now thanks for that perspective...It's been a while since I've driven the Appalachian range so I didn't know how much or what changed ie towers...other than wind turbines popping up in PA -

There ya go! no wonder you can't follow me...with all the words you keep putting in my mouth I am obviously having a difficult time communicating....Not once did I call you a jerk...I called you psychic, wait, I asked if you were that. I also gave Paula the credit for having used that insult first...just didn't need to name her as you did. Of course it was an insult and you then ran and attempted to hide behind " and I'm not the only one" Which is a tactic to garner support, which you more than likely will. It was only missing the obligatory, " No insult intended BUT..." lol It reminds me of a school yard. That's OK see I have an understanding of these things. Stubby... I agree with you, that said again it brought out various opinions and personal accounting's from some. As a topic opener not bad, Most added personality to the subject without taking it personal. -

Yes I was one of them...did yard work to and had a baby sitting job from after school till midnight when I was 10yrs old OMG.... The school buses won't even drop kids off here, unless an adult is at the end of drive to get them....How did any of us ever survive.... -

See Uberyan, an opinion that is worth reading and on topic... BTW.... seeing I was quoted then the following said, let me clear something up. Not once did I refer to anyone as being lazy. Even when I told of the disability scammers I never said they were lazy. I am also not a hater...I am opinionated. Perhaps, not sure, someone was taking things a tad too personal ,this I can't be sure of,not being a psychic myself. -
Walkie Talkies?

Serious question... Why not texting or calling on a cell? With all the towers around now days, new phones and service...isn't there better coverage? -
Reading this is funny...What has been going through my mind is why spend the $$...just go pick up some high end clothing ads, better yet watch some day time soap operas, it's all soft porn...hit up some of those mid west weather girls....Though I'll admit....I'm not sure they have them any more..it's been years since I had real TV. Good old Hef...Some things just don't age well and should fade away quietly... Some old bands and singers and Hef come to mind...It just taints memories when they don't, IMO

Are you kidding me? Did you read what you wrote? Am I now to assume you are a psychic? As I said ...several times... only Rob talked to him. Rob set this up with his personal Observations and started a discussion. One that didn't require knowing specifics. It required a spark to ignite a conversation, which it did. Though I can say I think your the only one it sparked to tell us what the OP had in his mind as to the TRUE topic. Thanks for sharing that, it was a neat trick, I have to say lol -
Sorry for your loss...happy for the gift of memories she gave you all.

food plots Observations and thoughts:What you can do
growalot replied to Berniez's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I Totally agree and liked Wolc's analogy as well. Though I still believe an average plotter can grow great corn from an $8 bag of feed seed. As for beans and deer..they actually can have a negative impact. Mine did a couple of years ago. Fantastic for camera footage and summer buck sightings not for hunting. The buck changed their summer Bachelor range. Displaced my summer fawn rearing doe. Then in the fall left to go find them. I still plant small pockets and in mixed plots.. I will never go with solid areas of them again, that lesson learned. There's always cheaper and way easier draws out there. Planting a field of mast trees is one. It depends on whether your doing this for just one or many reasons. Tons of land isn't needed either. Our property is several contiguous pieces. They range from 9.5 through 18.3/4 up to 20.5. Out of the 4 acres (Oracle?!) I plant on 2 and another is just trail planting. So it's maybe a total 3 acres on 36,out of a total 73. Though in all fairness I'm the only one with 200 red oak,,and the variety of soft mast trees and shrub. Now reading the above,I hope one thing stood out. How deer react. Not all deer in all areas react the same. Now that goes against what guys have been taught. It is fact. Even on small parcels with small planted areas plopped in the middle of 100's of acres of ag. fields. Do something that changes a herds dynamics ,the reason for using your property and you change your hunting results. Until that spring of beans..I was fawning drop and nursery. Rarely saw buck until fall. I provide secure interior wood lot food to raise growing fawn. So when measuring success and failures in this game of ours many considerations need to be had to really succeed. LOL I typed 4 words wrong in that on the Kindle,my mistake...It didn't pick any of them..I typed acre correctly, I know, and it changed it to Oracle...sometimes it makes me smile, mostly not. -
food plots Observations and thoughts:What you can do
growalot replied to Berniez's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Stubborn, He's obviously a farmer, but it can be done and without a lot of equipment..I started out without a big tractor and disc doing it. Also you don't have to have acres of corn, acres of beans. I started having to post picture after picture because I was called a liar for years before I did. Pictures do not lie. Corn,8 bucks a bag at tractor supply broad casted ,and yes when I first started tilled not disced in....Grain sorghum was easier but more expensive....Cover cropping ,strip planting, make having half acre plots of particular species work. It just takes more work and TIme...So to the ...you won't gets, you can't do' s, that's impossibles out there..I have and will continue to call BS on. Anything is possible with planning, time and yes work. -

Shoveling a drive isn't any different than tilling your garden, raking and piling the leafs, cutting and stacking wood, raking rocks, hauling brush. Other than the weather and proper dress. The cold has a definite role in heart attacks. Heart attack city, again for those not knowing how or in shape. Both accomplished with a little actual work. Teaching a work ethic to the kids isn't a bad thing either. BTW both of mine have thanked me for that,as I'm sure most kids with parents that had a clue have done. There's a lot to be said for " use it or lose it ". Rob talked to the guy ,not me,not you(General term). To that I say I'll go with there was a reason for his personal observations. Those observations certainly brought to light ....differing perspectives. -
Omlets with a stuffing of sauteed, yellow peppers, onion, portabella, dried tomato, asparagus lentils. Turkey sausage, left over mashed potato patties. Herbal tea.

I Don't know what to say Paula...Perhaps go back and re-read the post, including recheck's quote ,slower. IT is people out of shape that get into trouble. That said, seriously, learn how to properly shovel and you won't be throwing out your back...IMO Then again...it's a mobile home park, how dang big can the driveways be anyways? Really! -
If the PH isn't bad you can go with spring oats or wheat and chicory. as dbhunter mentioned. The soil needs to be a tad warmer for those...and do it before or after a rain and if you can drive over to pack with out tearing up the ground. Other wise take a roller or have your family /friends join you and walk around it a bit... Mind you this is sight and specifics unknown...but these are your easiest seeds to work with and cheap for now ...until you can decide further specifics later after you see how this worked or you want a bigger project.

Wow... I just read all the responses...Man you guys think way different than me.. I took that as a statement of priorities in a family...I can't imagine when my kids were young them not doing something like shoveling or raking...chores...nothing wrong with chores...So he had an observation and the observation happen to be the neighbor...could have just as well been a relatives family or a co workers family...Dang mono perspectives on what one reads...honing in on just certain words or phrases. Now I also took it as possible injury scam ...because those are my experiences and they happen a lot...Hell the one guy was even a volunteer firemen...they just had him working traffic, so it didn't mess with those checks... Belo mentioned injuries/health that can't be seen. Rob mentioned the guy works though...apparently not often...It was just a subject opener..line him up against the wall and shoot him for having an observation... PS..... I just got done shoveling my 300ft drive...that snow was heavier than a dead OX! but I got my daily exercise in. -

It sounds to me like your the jealous one. Jealous that he can have an observation and state an opinion that others find interesting enough to share their own with him and others....Where as you.......hhmmmmm -
Here: 1st coming to a sweet rye/clover trail plot. Next 3, clover and clover/chicory...off of beans. the last a mix off of beans clover and hemp. That was brassicas, clovers ,and bush beans they were in...clovers and chicory is a good combo...Now for something quick this spring. If the area is already free of heavy leaf cover...and you know the PH isn't horrible go frost seed some medium red clover Here it's done in early March...We are in the cold hills. As soon as it warms up a little. hit it with a bunch of rye grain that you can just drive or use a roller over to avoid scratching up the young clover...This is just to get you through spring turkey...then go in and really plant something. Lay down the rye seed well before turkey season or you can get into trouble for baiting...I said lots...because what ever you plant, be it clover to corn/beans....they will find that seed...

My neighbor wasn't outwardly disabled either . But due to back issues from truck driving /delivery he was getting checks and not Woking in his 40's. Another woman arthritis in her back..disabled in her 20's. Receiving checks....didn't stop either climbing ladders, hunting, mowing, hiking, working in the yard,shoveling.. Doing everything, just being careful of who was seeing it. Happens all the time...she did inherits the arthritis from her Dad,but he taught her how to play the system..Got a lawyer and went after SS..then went on to have a couple of kids to boot. I mentioned having kids as well..because she told me Dr.'s said she couldn't...you may have to be a woman to understand what that does to one's back...Any ways reasons for my comment. -

Probably getting disability checks ...and doesn't want to actually get caught...His son is just probably in training for the rest of us to be paying his future checks....
