Seeing my other question was ignored let me ask this...Is it not true that when you have a bunch of older class bucks running around ...you have more and deadlier fights?...and the end result being more deaths and long term injuries with in the herd?...and doesn't that also result in more aggressive breeding with does...also causing injury to the doe.....Just asking....my daughter taught at Georgia college and State University....they teach several classes on such things...so I believe studies have been done...have they not?

You NY guys have some right prim and proper guys at camp...lol.... I've done this post on a few different web sites over the years...and this is a first :-\
-
BJ ...I quick looked through my pics and all I could find is the late Feb pic of a second year section...I've been planting it in sections opening up that field and getting closer to the road...any how you can see where the deer ..raccoons and turkeys pulled all the stalks over to get the cobs....if I recall it was a thin planting ...due to turkey and grackles that year...and it was a mid-late July planting... cobs were short but fat...by march there were no leafs left on them...I either deleted for room or transferred pics to a zip drive...God only knows where I put that :-\ ...hope it helps

hahaha....the pickled eggs are enough to keep me put of camp and in a stand and I'll admit...a few vodkas and cranberry juice at night so the smell doesn't jolt me awake out of a sound sleep....lol

Now I'd be interested in that...but isn't it on a first come first serve bases..or can every one with land get it..also is it regional specific?

Metal Ladder Stand - Just picked up two Big Dog Big Bud's
growalot replied to burmjohn's topic in General Hunting
They are actually used in concrete work ...metal stakes with a series of holes in them to tie line to -
I asked this question a long while ago...can't find it....not sure if it was answered... So the Idea is to get ppl shooting bigger racked...supposedly older deer...not sure that really correlates ...but if this is implemented and a few years down the road ppl really are shooting only mature buck...how is that healthy for the herd? I mean look at types of hunters and dates of hunting...especially if crossbows go into archery season...you have a great many mature buck being shot before or right at the beginning of the rut....so in an area of high hunter #'s...who's doing all the breeding?...but...Oh ya the young buck..for the older smarter buck that aren't shot are now laying low in some swamp some place until things settle down..and who's still on their feet running doe?...serious ? here any thoughts....

Just standard TC farm feed corn...I swear every kernel germinates...tested a small amount last year with round up and it grew great...was going to test larger area this year but the drought made me hold off...then it came in so thick no need...I'll look through and see if I saved pics from previous years to show cobs...like I said I mainly use it as a cover and bedding...found they really like eating the stalks and any cobs that grow......Problem is Ag. stores don't want to see the cheaper sold "feed" being grown...when they can sell the planting corn for 100x's more money...now if I were drilling and seriously in need of big beefy kernels to sell ya I'd spend the money...but all I need is some feed value with the cover and bedding value..to keep them in the field during shooting hours...corn is grown all around us...let them feed the herd...for they chop all the corn for the dairy cattle and cut it for the beefers just before bow season...that leaves me with the only standing corn around

beech nuts!...need to get down to open camp the guys may have a good crop of acorns and beech there this year
-
\What goodies are you guys getting ready for deer camp?....I know you all have that one thing someone always brings... I just got done making spicy dill pickles and bread and butter pickles...then every year they request my dilly green beans...Mr.B makes a big jar of pickled eggs and if I take a deer early enough in bow they request my jerky...so whats on your list of have to have?...
-
G-man I take those and put them up near the property lines where I know ppl sneak in usually all they have to do is see them up in the trees and it helps stop them from coming any farther
