The title of the thread is my opinion and that of a few friends. I got this Speedy Stitcher in 1989 as a Christmas gift. It was recommended by friend......... The other day the winch strap on my boat trailer busted while cranking the boat in. I bought a new one today at Cabela's and it was about 4' too long. By "too long" I mean that it filled the spool on the winch before I got to the hook. I pulled it back off and compared it to the junk one and noted that it was too long. I cut the strap to the correct length and stitched it up like it needed to be. A bolt goes through it when putting it on the spool and then you just crank it in. My Speedy Stitcher has gotten me out of quite a few jambs over the years. I might not use it every year but when I need it, it's handy as hell to have. My turkey vest would have been chicken chow mien years ago without it. I think it's one of those things every hunter/fisherman/outdoors man needs and should fit all budgets.

My driveway was dry when I got up this morning. I checked withe the NWS at Buffalo and they had .41" at the airport yesterday. You & I are pretty close to them, as the crow flies.

Ma' Nature put on a good show last night and we got some much needed rain. Who's got a rain gauge and what'd it tally? All I need to do is stick a tape measure in my boat's bilge.................

So my day so far........Dad and I were on the river by 8:00am. We were using live bait, bass chubs as we call them. On the very first drift dad got a snag and that is RARE for us. The current is so strong that by the time I got the motor fired up and up ahead of the snag a ton of line had played out. We got above it and I thought we'd get it. No big deal if we broke the line but heck, why not try and free it?? It turned into a royal cluster! All of a sudden the line is going under the boat, dad has the pole in his hand. The tip of the pole dives down under the transom and I quickly shut the motor down as I didn't want to get the line in the prop. Before I could cut the line, the tip and half the damned rod is pulled between the motor and transom. I reached around (NOT a "reach around" you pigs) and grabbed the line and the rod is in pieces! I'm not really sure WTH happened but it wasn't good. Oh by the way, that's the rod I made dad for Father's Day last year. I had a spare rig so I yanked the reel off that one and put dad's lefty on. He was back in the water quicker than it took to write this.......... We caught only two bass, one each before we pulled the plug. Here's dad's fish.................. Here's dad's busted rod.............. It'd be a nice pack rod for some back country hiker. Gotta run, more fun to come!

We fished the south side, west side and east side of Strawberry. Our last drift took us just about to Beaver Island as we were shooting the breeze and gnawing on a couple turkey sammies, chased by a Bud Light. At that point we had kind of thrown in the towel.

Good job TC! I took my father out this morning, put in at the foot of Sheridan. We did lousy.......ill post the sad tale in the Fathers Day thread later on. UGGH!

Will do. We got the quote late last fall, the owner of the business is coming over some night this week to go over things again.

For some reason I NEVER think of C-Me Sales. I've been there a few times and bought some stuff. IIRC they have a NO return policy on everything. That turned me off................... Understood! If mine didn't get trashed I wouldn't be doing it. We have a complete tear off (three roofs on now) roofing event happening in the next week or so and those babies don't come cheap..............

Anybody have a name/number of someone to make a cover for my dingy? It's just a 16' no "windshield" fishing boat. I don't know what the beam is on it, maybe 60"? I'd like snaps and fiberglass bows for it. My current cover is chicken chow mien..............FUBAR. It was from Cabela's and came with the boat. It had the straps that you had to wrap around the trailer. Looking for an upgrade if I can swing it. Thanks.

Nice buck phade! I hope to have mine back this year from the taxidude. I'm sure he'll be calling soon................ Mine is supposed to be a wall pedestal mount similar to Tacks buck he just posted yesterday.
