  1. How would you know it happened? Increased pressure from guys not doing a good job covering their scent...
  2. Is there something in the video that isn't reality? I don't care about your crossbow, there are fully capable versions out there and I posted proof.
  3. Doc's point about us rehashing this over and over is spot on, in the past there was always claiming they weren't any easier. It's hard to believe there's someone still playing that card though... Especially when earlier in the thread he touted them as being more efficient and he's to busy to practice with a compound and that's why he likes a crossbow. *scratches his head*
  4. I stopped being "upset" quite a few years ago. But this thread was about opinions. I have plenty of private land, but yea it's bordered by gun only hunters. So I can still feel how I do do about crossbows and not be upset.
  5. What's logical to you is illogical to others. An opinion cannot be right or wrong.
  6. I would too. I also think there's a line of challenge. That said I've been looking for a recurve for some time I just keep having kids and changing jobs haha
  7. And that's why you are so dumbfounded by anti-crossbow guys. The season was intended to be a challenge, not a way to control the deer population like the morons at the DEC thought. It's meant for those who wanted to push themselves to a higher skill and ability. Because you don't understand that and view hunting as killing is why you don't understand why we are so passionate about preserving it. I'm only 32, but this culture of everything should just be automated and easy is ridiculous. Hard work got me where i am, not taking shortcuts.
  8. But there is some glimmer of truth to it
  9. That's where I'm at, but if you're gonna start a thread and ask a question, don't get all butt hurt when I give my opinion.
  10. The guy not ready with his compound is apt to not hit the broad side of a barn. The gun and crossbow guy is more likely to wound. Fact is, the crossbow introduces many new hunters to the archery world, which I will admit is positive, but there's no debate that there'll be a steep increase in clowns entering the archery woods. We have all seen it during gun.
  11. And for decades crossbows have been illegal. So our "government" gets to decide right? Now we're talking big bore air guns, when does the push for head shot .22's begin? DEC wants more deer dead, but those deer are in the burbs in areas where nobody can legally hunt.
  12. So by that logic I should be able to use a pellet gun, .22, 3 blade rage heads?
  13. Thanks for reiterating my point. I've witnessed first hand a guy buy a crossbow at dicks the night before the opener and wanted something he could "use in the morning" It's the hunter, not the weapon.
  14. Bahaha, yeah getting a deer within 30 yards unwinded, drawing without being seen and finding a clear lane are a walk in the park. Far easier than gun for sure.
  15. Then you've never hunted opening weekend of gun
  16. You can't ask for an opinion, then get one and tell me it's wrong. But yes if the "competition" is wounding and spooking deer then yes that's what I mean. It's a quiet peaceful time in the woods with deer traveling naturally. Of course I don't want a target buck on edge. There is no debate that the archery hunter is a more dedicated, harder working hunter. He HAS to be.And what's stopping a non-disabled crossbow hunter from hunting with a compound like the rest of us?
  17. You're grasping at straws buddy, that's a bipod off a bench with a scope. My wife could make that shot. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. You inferred a lot from 3 words. No not all NEW to the archery season crossbow hunters are nOObs, but many will be.
  19. Posted this a few times now
  20. I had a buddy with a connection and got some 8 round Lcp's (fit better anyhow) for $30 a piece but yeah generally they're not cheap.
  21. Here's what I believe. As far as capabilities I will agree. There are compound shooters out west shooting out to 100 yards and there are crossbows capable as well. The difference is that one takes years of practice and the other a table, bipod and scope.
  22. We've moved on Papist. You're just talking to yourself... Or copy and pasting to yourself.
  23. Disabled meaning a simple doctors note. It's not greed, it's the enjoyment of a season where the clown hunters are few and far between.
