normally i'd have plants started. i guess i'm behind this year. always seems to be stunted when bringing them outside and putting them in actual dirt. i've got to get the garden tilled up and top off the raised beds. probably this weekend.
-
no for me. still would go with 6.5 creedmoor to reach out there. i've already got a "fully semi-auto but safe" rifle that's good out to around 400 yards with a lot more punch than any of them. even have a 10 rounder for it.

there's been confusion and confict i know regarding long term lower dose. consensus is don't do that and if it's needed give it right to ya as needed in a higher dose over a relatively shorter period of time. what i've been told.
-
when i hunted in the Pine Bush I'd take my outer layers off in the parking lot or trail head and put them in one of those giant ziploc bags. it was great hunting if you were into deer but a lot of people are turned off because of that.
-
i've gotten spray for the yard this year that kills them. i'll use that around the high traffic areas of my 2.5 acre lawn. in years past i've used the granules. still have a bag left i'll use on the walking paths off the lawn.
-
have you used that on gear? not sure what inert ingredients are in it and if they effect your clothes. the use guide just says use chemical resistant clothing, gloves, etc. when applying it to other stuff.
-
already decided i'd go straight for the AR10 trying to justify that i'll somehow not end up with both. it'd be in 6.5 creedmoor too. can't justify getting a 308 over that.

Happy birthday 2012-taco and Red !
dbHunterNY replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
happy bday to you both. -
i might change my ways and learn about quality opossum management and habitat instead of deer. lol for having a bad rep of just roadkill and rabies they consume a ton of ticks.

thing that worries me that i learned from my father-in-law that got it bad is doxy isn't a cure all. he had gotten more than just lyme. there's specific strands of lyme and more than just lyme that you can get from ticks. he had to take specific antibiotics for each one and all at once to snuff it out. even then the symptoms stay and was broken so much he was forced to retire his trade job early. i think docs are getting more informed but i still think many don't have a clue if it reaches that point. i mean he went through multiple docs before treated knowledgeably and successfully.

everyone says they're worse every year but i truely believe this year is bad. i haven't changed anything i do. every time i've gone out this year i have gotten them crawling on me and this last time attached. it's all out war now. i've gotten permethrin, saved TP tubes, and cotton balls. we've used sun screen with IR3535. i recently picked up Sawyer's Picardin too.
-
by law or standard medical practice (not sure which) they can only give you so many days of doxy without lyme confirmation. bullseye they treat as positive but otherwise they need a positive test. i've even brought the female deer tick in once. they said they don't send them out despite i know you can.

i did play around a little with different field tip weights and they flew a little better but barely. even then i'd have to add screw in weight behind the inserts to continue using my 100 gr broadhead selection. i think if i ever decided to lower the poundage to 60lbs they wouldn't tune well. i've gotten plenty other arrows to fly better easier than these. we'll see what these new $1.50 arrows do. Probably won't be able to keep my bow close to max poundage but i don't care. i don't need that kind of energy to kill deer.

DEC Browse Surveys Finally Being Pushed
dbHunterNY replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
most don't care. they just want to hunt. only do habitat work if it means pulling out a tree for $$. invasive species what are they? stuff has been there forever. -
would've given him a real headache by the looks of that tree.

lady luck isn't doing you any favors this season. sorry to hear it. kind of a grey area going after him after noon. maybe drop the gun off, to come back and look? if something gets a hold of him from being wounded it's easy to spot with a pile of feathers everywhere.

Looks like DEC is finally making ground with AVID and pushing it. I got the bulletin email this morning. Smart Phone app coming further down the road. This has been in the works for at least a couple years. Now I just wished they'd get their crap together and not send an email asking to sign up for a workshop/educational event that was a few days ago. Damn i wished i could predict the future. it would've been fun event to attend. https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/NYSDEC/bulletins/1ed9403

i don't intend on using them to pound X rings in competition at distance. for hunting ranges they should work well. others that didn't fly to my liking were on the stiff side with a light front of center. these have a more FOC and i'm shooting mechanicals with the bow they're going on. those things help a 0.006" tolerance arrow fly better i think. all coming off the same mfg line with all the rest. this was more Walmart off loading out of season product than anything. as usual, i'll check squareness and spin test to pick some winners of the group first.

sitting in the office, but pulling for ya! i hope to get one of the bows out this weekend.
-
naaa... i'd only buy one lower. separate note, i sure do love peanuts.

Been shooting bloodsport hunter 300 arrows and don't like how they fly despite tuning well. I also want to turn down my bow. Well tonight at Wal-Mart I picked up some Bloodsport Punisher 350 arrows that were somehow on super clearance but not marked. I got a pile of them at $1.50 an arrow. Can't see in pic but they come with brass inserts. I'll be tuning them soon. Hopefully before the weekend. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

i could try to convince Lawd to have Biz hand over his account number. we could have the order confirmation sent to Grow's kindle. Nomad can verify on his watch the time so the transaction doesn't get timed out. Turkeyfeathers can deliver it in his bunny suit. While Pygmy is over struck with tears and emotion like a loud school girl, Grampy can roll in for his kiss. Wooly will get it all on film. You can verify no laws are being broken and john can verify it abides by forum rules. Please standby. There's a lot of working parts. if i left any crucial part out let me know. might need a prayer from wolc that it all comes together.

hunted yesterday morning first morning out for the season due to the crazy schedule. rained pretty much all day. never heard any birds and couldn't roost them the saturday evening. picked a spot called and waited it out. tried my best to use the friction calls, forgot mouth calls as i took them out of my vest for some reason. around 8:30am i pulled a single male turkey in. had just it's head moving over the ridge. didn't fan up or gobble to tell what it was so i passed. thought it was going to come further up and closer to my location as i called enough before it came in. in hindsight i probably could've used my voice to throw some purs and clucks but wasn't thinking as i normally have a mouth call in. after a while i got up and headed back to access road where i parked. down the mountain from the access road, in a field below, i spotted a flock headed across. tried to hustle down their but couldn't get ahead of them in time and lost the direction they went. called a little to try to get them to give up their location and nothing. picked a spot in the general direction quarter mile away. setup again and called. only thing that came was harder rain. called it around 11am. on another note every time i'm outside doesn't matter where it seems like i'm picking up hitchhikers. this time one of the blood suckers attached at my neck. Procrastination is over all my warmer season gear i'm using is getting treated with permethrin now. depending on the weather i'll hang stuff under cover from the rain.

i really should get myself one of those black evil for NY Merica guns. i've felt so left out lately.

don't be a lawyer. are those three options or a combo hunt? specifics man!
