I hit Wegmans earlier. Man their selection got wayyy bigger and everything was full. Tons of Octoberfest, harvest, and pumpkin offerings as well. Also saw they are carrying Three Brothers and Six Point now. Lots of new beers. Ended up going home with a birthday cake and chips for my daughter's bday party and no beer.

My FIL bought me one of those old plastic roll up sleds a few years ago. It will fit in your back pack and you can wrap the deer up in it. I still have my first rifle and bought it based on suggestions from my FIL. He has hunted at the camp since 1974 and has averaged 2.7 deer per year from 74 to present. He uses a Remington 700 in .243. So I went shopping and bought a used Remington 788 in .243. My average is much lower in less years but this rifle is an accurate shooter. Although it is a little heavy and plain Jane looking, I can't seem to leave it home and want to carry it each time I am in rifle country.

I know some of the parents of these kids and it is the talk of our area. Really great to see them doing so well and all the support from all the school districts cheering them on. Endwell is only 10 minutes from me.

I'm in but holy smokes my phone is jacked up and I created 3 teams. Can you delete Sean's Team and Sean's superb team please. I can't seem to do it. And I haven't been drinking today.

Started out Tuesday morning and got about an hour into the trip just north of Syracuse and it started raining. Poured most of the day and night. We did catch a small break between 4 and 630 to set up our tent. Hit Lake Placid Wednesday, rained Thursday morning, and then was nice the rest of the week. Came back yesterday. Way too short.

You didn't miss anything special. I was actually disappointed in our visit. They boast about having 53 beers and we wanted to do a flight and they only had 4 beers so the choice was already made for you. The camp 12 pack was also $5 more than the local store so we bought something else entirely to try up there. Adirondack brewery mixed 12 pack. Was just so so.

Do you have any friends that hunt and own rifles in different calibers? I'd start there. See if you can join them to go shooting and see how a bolt action feels to you. Try a lever action as well if you can. You may like one more than the other. And then practice shooting more to get proficient with your purchase once you decide. The fun has just begun and it sounds like you are hooked already. Range day is an excellent idea as well. Good luck doing your research and let us know what you think after shooting them.

Welcome to the forum. It isn't always the weapon but the shooter and his confidence in his equipment. Have you shot rifles before? What is your comfort range pertaining to shooting distance? What calibers are you looking at? Lots of unanswered questions before we can give advice and every shooter/hunter uses a different style so be prepared for a bunch of varying answers.

Amen to that. Seems just like yesterday we were celebrating their first birthday. I have the gray hairs to prove it hasn't been an easy road though.

My daughter turns 14 today too. She just had tryouts for JV soccer team and now we are at Physical therapy for her bruised knee. Happy Birthday.
