If you go to the interactive link and answer the questions on what type of firearm you "might" need to register, look at the questions and answer them honestly, then you'll see your results. The conundrum lies with that statement "large capacity ammunition feeding device." Many pumps readily adapt to an extension tube like a Choate or Nordic. http://www.governor.ny.gov/nysafeact/registration-questionnaire

This information has been available for years. All anyone has to do is go look for it so as to be informed. You can find the FBI's compilation of the nation's UCR's right on their website. The national murder rate per 100,000 has been going down for years. Despite a population growth of 100 million more people in the nation since 1970: Imagine that, a murder rate going down over the span of forty years despite more guns and more people being added to America. What has been relentless in America has been the constant stream of in-your-face sensationalistic news reporting and the immediacy of how quickly in today's information age it can be delivered. The talking puppet-heads who deliver the news are as repulsive as the bad news itself. Say it enough times, over and over, and it must be true. And the media only parrots what the politicians are saying to enforce their message. Per the FBI, 16 mass shootings occurred in America in 2012, killing 88 people. Yes, all were tragic. But that's a very small percentage when you compare it to the general population of 312 million. Based on those numbers, you had a 1 in 17 million chance of being involved in mass shooting last year. The odds of being struck by lightning in a given year is 1 in 1,000,000 per the National Weather Service. Statistics don't lie. So where is all this gun violence? Contained to certan geographic areas? When are our elected officials going to be tasked to elaborate on their assertions when their own reporting, which is public information, tells us otherwise?

PETA Plans to Fly Drones That Would 'Stalk Hunters

The SHARK folks have been doing this for a a while now in addition to harassing pigeon shooters for the last few years in PA. There is no end to their madness. -
Hitting the topknot and neck of a turkey at 50 yds. is quite a feat. Using a heavy load with an initial "stated" velocity of only 1090fps (like those big 2 & 2 1/4 oz. payloads) leaves a lot to be desired in the remaining energy department at that range as well. Loads that produce the best pattern density and velocity are what I pick. Which means lots of rounds fired at the patterning board. A single pellet needs to produce 2.5 ft./lbs. of energy to penetrate and kill a turkey. No pellet (4,5,6) carries that much energy at 50 yds. Most peter out below that ft./lb. number by 45 yds. I'll pass on a 50 yd. shot. The farthest I've connected was 35 yds. The closest was 15 yds. I use copper-plated #5's and sometimes the old Remington 4x6 Duplex.

The ECON laws I get. The SAFE Act is built with too many caveats. (I'm a guy who hates change!) Even if I entertained the thought to comply, registration brings with it a "you may be denied" clause. The research I've done so far has netted me more "nay's" than "yea's." "A: If you submitted your form electronically, you will immediately receive an acknowledgement and tracking number (this is NOT confirmation that your registration has been approved). You will then be notified subsequently by e-mail and/or U.S. mail whether your registration was successful. If you mailed in your form to the State Police, you will receive notification either through the e-mail address you provided, or, if no e-mail was provided, by mail. In either case, please allow at least three business days for notification." The website at least gets updated from the first announcement: http://www.governor.ny.gov/nysafeact/gun-reform Other statements make me scratch my head: "The SAFE Act protects law- abiding citizens right to bear arms and does not restrict New Yorkers' ability to buy, sell, keep or use their guns." (How about the guy from out-of-state?) "Please note: This website is informational only and does not constitute legal advice." (Oh, so it's meant for a 6th-grader to understand?)

If this has already been broached, I apologize for missing the answer. However, when it comes to the Safe Act, what does this mean to non-residents who may have hunted in the past with rifles that now come under the definition of an "assault weapon" and they still want to hunt with them? Yes or No? Also, I shoot highpower so I also like to compete in events around the tri-state area. I ask because I get conflicting reports or "opinions." I called the SAFE Act hotline months ago, asked the very question, and was told not to come into NY with them. I spoke with a member of the NY Highpower forum who said the same thing. The Act applies to residents only. Someone yesterday on another forum who is from out of state told me that he spoke to the NYSP on the same hotline and was told he could bring them in to hunt or shoot wth as long as he registered them. (Register? Who would think of such folly?) What's the real skinny? Do I go by what I've been told verbally or should I believe folks on internet forums. "Where'd ya' hear that? On the internet?"

Excellent vid. Nice shooting. -
The majority of firearms made in America at the turn of the century were all in the Northeast manufacturing corridor; CT, NY and MA. For a while. A.H. Fox were in Philadelphia before moving north.

Reed is the same exhibitor the NSSF used for the SHOT Show last week. Reed is a UK-based company. (Maybe Piers Morgan has something to do with this?) http://www.pagunblog...porting-rifles/ From the NSSF site (It seems they "strongly disagree" with Reed's decision but that's as far as they'll go) - http://www.nssfblog....d-outdoor-show/ Note: the NSSF is based in Newtown, CT, while Reed Exhibitions is located in Norwalk, CT. I'm sure there are reasons both are fence-sitting.

boycott begins

Cuomo's move has only emboldened Washington and the rest of the BLUE states. New York holds the key for change. Remain steadfast, don't comply and the message will get out there. (They can't put everyone in jail, can they?) NJ has similar bills now being talked about in our Senate. 5-rnd. magazine capacities, psych. check, a visit to your home as part of the evaluation process, etc. Silly stuff. Gov. Christie has remained steadfast to anti-gun proponents yet pressure last week had him implementing a task force to perform a two-month study into "gun violence." America doesn't have a "gun" problem, we have a violence problem. Trust me, if past governor's Florio, McGreevey or Corzine were still in office, we would have followed NY's lead and seen a similar bill passed. -
I believe the exhibitor (Reed) told the vendors no black rifles and no black accessories. Reed Exhibitions is the same exhibitor of the SHOT Show in Las Vegas this week. Odd? http://www.reedexpo.com/en/Events/2756/The-Shot-Show Look at the Eastern Expo's FB page and comments folks are leaving in light of the news: https://www.facebook.com/EasternSports?fref=ts

This incentive pay arrangement is not uncommon in most mergers or acquisitions. Ditto for winding down a business. (Ever work at a big company where you were the last of a half-dozen people in what was once a large divisional office, who shut the lights and closed the doors after the final walk-through with the building's realtor and attorney? It's pretty depressing. Oh, I forgot, somewhere in there that day you had a conference call with your counterparts to tell them your assignment was done. They were on the other coast, sitting in a room with the Feds who had put your company in receivership weeks earlier and now were running everything;) In all honesty, this happens all too often in Corporate America; it starts with a poorly-managed business which is the fault of those charged with running the company. Outdated and struggling companies go belly-up every year and they are usually purchased by one of their stronger competitors......workers are often rehired, equipment put back into production and the result is sometimes a stronger, more well-managed operation. -
That's impressive. Thanks for the feedback. I may try the 80 gr. in my .257 as well. (Hmm, that means more load development.)

I have been thinking of trying the lighter bullets in my 6mm for deer-size game. How do you like the 80 gr. Barnes in your .243? Do you get complete penetration with that bullet? Just curious. Thanks
