  1. See in another topic you figured out this actually was a scrape. Must have been hitting it hard to make it so deep.
  2. I would have thought you Jets fans would have learnt from us Bills fans? Their going to break your hearts every time! lol :'( Best of luck this season to both teams.
  3. With any luck the bucks will pose for you during hunting season like they did for the camera.
  4. Good thing you didn't have your doe estrous lure out. You could have gotten hurt or worse. ???
  5. Buckstopshere hit the nail on the head!!! Depends on what's going on in your hunting area regarding food sources, cover, weather, intrusions, their moods, etc. I've had mixed results, majority of which have been poor!
  6. I started to respond, but was confused like Doc was! Obvious, stupid question would be; Isn't it strictly a wgt match to old mechanical to any new fixed broadhead, ie; 100 g to 100g? Before I did find a formula for FOC, is this what you are referring to? New an arrow w/broadhead all setup to calculate if it is good. http://www.bowhuntingmag.com/tactics/broadhead_flight/ Easton has a calculator you can input different broadhead wgts and the then try to match their brand of choice to what you currently have. http://www.eastonarchery.com/products/selection Other than than, I'm at a loss!! :-[
  7. When you get old, rickety bones, basically decrepit, CRS and you can't see, you .... Now you know where the term "Sound Shot" comes from! ???
  8. Not directed at any specific individuals or disputing anyone's opinion, but: When you think you have deer all figured out, you're in for a huge disappointment! All the historical patterning for this annual event goes out the window if the weather is uncooperative. Also, the deer are not that predictable, especially during the rut time frame. It's an annual event that's going to happen when their ready! A hunter plans with the information and time they have available. They spend as much time in the woods as possible and hopefully their in the right place at the right time!! Peroid.
  9. When does production start? Put my name on the waiting list! Bad enough when you were glasses, but add bifocals on top. I've graduated to trifocals. Don't know what's next??? Seeing eye dog that is a pointer for my bow hunting buddy!
  10. Found a perfect spot for a ground blind or stand in gun season. Cleared shooting lanes, brushed it in & it's kind of an intersection of several travel routes. Been looing for a comfortable chair or stool. Basic directors or tripod chairs or even the strap-on seats like the Summit Trophy chair - anything but a cold, hard rock. Saw this once before, but forgot the name. Saw a review on bowhinting.com and it looked perfect. Ergonomic, padded, fully adjustable, large foot pads and it swivels - then I saw it was $199. http://www.bowhunting.com/videos/bowhunting-product-reviews/huntmore-360-stool-review_483 More inclined to get a $20 collapasible camp chair. What's evenyone use for their ground hunting blinds or stands? Sit on the ground turkey hunting, but after a short peroid my knees begin to bother me. Need to be in a normal sitting position with my legs bent at ~90º, like in a chair.
  11. I've read about the single pin concept before. I have same s/u as Doc, 20, 30 & 40 pins. Think next summer I may try the single pin. Sure would make it a no brainer in the heat of the hunt. Oh well, if only the eye were as good as they used to be...
  12. Three seperate ruts, interesting thought. I don't agree with it, but an interesting opinion anyways.
  13. I have the Mad Dog Atv bow grip pro on the front rack. Secures to the tubular rack, they claim it can also mount anywhere. Bow limbs nest in rubber grips and are secured fairly well with velcro belts. Word of warning - If your trail/path is flat, then these are great. If it is uneven, with rocks or potholes - these will transfer every ATV vibration to your bow. Think everyone has those screw-in, center pivot, 2 pc "goodie" holder for the tree stand.
  14. Oh, you're one of those last 20 second guys!!! Been there! Ones that kill me are the listings that end at 1 or 2AM and it is something I'd really like.
  15. The "luck phase" falls within the Planets therory, nothing to do with the moon. If all the planets are perfectly aligned, you're in the right place at the right time you could get lucky (hunting!!).
  16. Congratulations, your 1st Feral Hog sign. lol Just kidding and I hope not for all of our sake!!!
  17. Can't answer that with any specific knowledge or certainity. It depends.... Last year there was a bachelor group of 2 mature & 1 smaller bucks. When they disbanded, the small guy sort of dissapeared. Did see him once again, fairly big bodied ~4-5" spike. The two mature bucks each had territories within a majority of the 60 acres. Problem is when the rut gets feverish, bucks will enter from outside areas. Had this happen last year. One of those mature bucks had keyed in on an area that two smaller does lived. When the 1st doe went into esterous, an outside, larger buck took over and forced the mature buck to backoff. Then the outside, larger buck sort of disappeared back to his territory. The mature buck remained in his original core area, but may not have bred any does. When the girls are hot, the boys have no rules they play by!!!
  18. Up until today I had regularly gotten pics of doe groups, does with fawns and a buck bachelor group I've been seeing. Today’s trail cam photos showed the doe groups with members of the bachelor bucks in tow. Two different doe groups and two different bucks from their summer group. No photos of the bachelor group. Bucks were all out of velvet. Should be beginning to establish their territories.
  19. Beautiful!! See you have the shooting house extension on the side. lol
  20. My Kentuck is a standard model, but they also sell the glamorized Silver model. Terrific looking rifle! Would I take it into the woods?????? Probably not. Was at a Rochester gun shop and they had a BP pistol for quite a while and wanted to get rid of it. It was a new Pedersoli Charles Moore dueling BP cap pistol for $275, couldn't pass on that $600 pistol. If things go well in bow season, I may hunt during regular season with the pistol. Should be challenging!! :
  21. There is one other show on Versus you may want to check out, Deer and Deer Hunting. Lot of info on that show by whitetail biologists, QDM specialists, Manufacture Reps, etc. If you're a fan, may even get to see Charlie A. Used to be on the show when it was on Outdoor Channel. They do have one bogus segment within each show, shot placement. Generally two guys doing an armchair, hind-sight analysis of an actual bow hunting scene for maximum shot placement. Just 2" this way, that front leg forward, next shooting lane, no shot, grrrrrr... ??? Then the reviewer gets up in a stand set-up in the studio in a controlled environment with his street cloths on and hits a bullseye on the 3D target. That's what the hunter should have done...grrrrrrr :
  22. You may want to see the thread "Practice" within Bow Hunting, it's a similiar ongoing discussion.
  23. My suggestion would be to read the instructions. I know, that's not the manly thing to do. lol Set it up in you back yard and walk in front of it a few times. Pull the card and see how the pictures look. Some models don't have the default settings exactally where you'd like them to be. Go to chassinggame or nativeoutdoors web sites and read their tips. May save you some aggrevation and wasted time with worthless photos. When you bring that 1st memory card home and see the photos on your PC, you'll be officially addicted!!!
  24. Can't help you with that, mine's a percussion cap. Also a hell of a lot cheaper, less than 1/2 of what you're talking about.
  25. I have the Pedersoli Kentucky standard model in 50cal percussion. Well made rifle, balance is good and shoots great. Very ornate!! Replica of an American Colonial rifle made in Italy... ???
