Do a Google search for this ML carbine. Other ML forums have discussions about loads, history and twists. One contributor stated that as this ML evolved it had several different twist rates. 1:24, 1:32 and 1:48 - have to use a jag and figure out just what you have. Tried looking on the tcarms.com for info, but since S&W took over these traditional MLs are limited. Kinda pathetic, since this where they (T/C) began their journey!!!

I caught a doe fight last year. What are the chances of the camera taking a photo at the perfect time???

Anyone do the traditional deer drives? Any special techniques? If you think about the traditional deer drive, it can be dangerous if not done safely. Hunted with a group of guys years ago doing deer drives. On the 2nd day when we stopped for lunch and some of them had a few beers - that ended my deer drives!! My father and I used to hunt mornings and around 9-10AM would do a 150 yard semi circle around the other. Switched places and then go in the opposite direction. Did this on private land only! The driver would whoop, whistle or made frequent noises so the person on stand always knew where the driver was. Not the typical drive, but generally would get them up & moving. Actually they were pretty productive for thicker cover areas!

Initially I thought the whole Scent Control gimmick was a scam. Over the years I have adapted most of the techniques. Breath odor control is kinda where I draw the line. I do the normal oral hygene; brush, gargle and rinse before hunting. Do sip/gargle from my water bottle reguraly when hunting. Apparently the earth scent disc pinned to my hat covers this odor!

Peep sights work for you, have to take a look at this option. Bpb: Never been a letter writer, so other than Legislators- Who should get these letters showing support? Been several sightings of bear(s) this summer in north, central Wayne county (8F). Actually near where I hunt. That's a rarity!!!! Last year the single sighting was between Lyons & Geneva. Love to see a bear while in my tree stand. To observe only. lol What would be even neater is to see a moose. Several years ago a young bull moose made it all the way to Williamson (Wayne Co.) before being darted.

Very interesting!!! Think I'll stick with the vegetarians though! Must get your heart pounding when you are unarmed & retrieving the dogs off of a treed/cornered bear? God forbid it should ever occur, but assuming the dogs would protect you if something were to happen?

Also got two DMPs for 8F. Town Clerk told me everyone was getting DMPs if 8F was their choice. Told me not to bother with my landowner paperwork.

I have 3 Summit Single Shot ladder stands I generally move each year. First year I had someone help me and that makes it much easier. Last 3 years I've lowered them, disassembled, reassembled and put them up by myself. I'm retired, so take that for what it's worth. Usually lay them out, stake the base and walk them up like an extension ladder. They're more of a pain in the butt to adjust once they are up than putting them up initially. Usually put cement blocks under the feet to keep them from sinking into the wet ground, ~6" x 12" x 4". Flat rocks would work. Couple of substantial ratchet straps to secure it to the tree. Good to go! Word of warning - Steel ladderstands in cold, icy conditions can be hazardous!!!! Ice forms on the ladder rungs and the platform easily due to the steel. Pretty much a gun season event, so I shoot sitting anyways. Very carefully ascend and descend with both hands free. Under these conditions I always wear a safety vest and am secured to the tree.

First year I had my property I had to do some doe management, got four does. Donated 2 of these. Several processors in my area participate and it was easy. I did call before hand to ensure they were taking donations. Processor was very clear about only bringing in a good sized deer. Apparently it cost them the same in time & labor for any size. Cost the hunter nothing but their time & gas and the DMP. Have never followed up on where it goes once it leaves the processors. Hopefully it gets put to good use!!!

Really? I have never had any luck with bucks until after Halloween. Yeah, have seen does early season.

Actually it was the hot weather in the spring that gave the apples a jump start and why they are a little early.

Very neat!! Flames on you hunting arrows, cool hot!! In one photo they look thicker, shoot the 450? I still use Beaman/Easton carbon 340s, carry-over from my old, slower AR-31 at ~290fps. Should try to shoot something different next year now that I'm at ~320fps.

For us average-joes in hunting situations, absolutely!! I know of several hunts I'd love to rewind and do a retake in a different way. Live and learn, I guess!

If you are comfortable shooting bullseyes in the heat of the hunt and know exactally where to hit, then shoot. Problem is at that angle the difference between a bullseye and too far forward or back is a couple of inches either direction. If you have ever blown a quartering to shot once, you won't take one again. Been there!

The real archery experts need to weight in on this one, but assuming test above eliminates all but arm, shoulder & back muscles. My therory is that if your opposite hand/arm is extended and on the grip, if you can pull string/release straight back - your good! If you have to do the windmill draw, then you are dialed too high. Also setting yourself up for extra movements at inappropriate times. May not be the official method, but it works for me.

Yeah, me too! Quit carrying the horns and got a rattling bag. Never (to the best of my knowledge) had any luck. May rattle a couple of times if I'm bored and then put them away. Where I hunt there is a high doe to buck ratio, 2:1 or 3:1. My opinion is that if this were reveresed with a lot of bucks and a few doe, the bucks will fight. In this situation rattling is a common, natural sound and may attract attention. If they don't hear it naturally, they may be curious and probably won't come to the rattling. Agree - disagree?

Crab apples are typically earlier than their orchard cousins. Believe the original question was referring to orchard apples.

Have 3 of another brand that i really like. I decorate mine with the fake branches/leaves, really breaks-up the outline. Could tie wrap normal branches to it also. This works well especially up around the platform where you sit to hide movements some. Like to get mine set-up as early as possible to let deer get used to it. Placement is a key factor with most stands, especially the ladder stands due to their size. True to visualize your location with no leaves on the trees. Will you stick out like a sore thumb or be skylighted?

Hunt from 15' ladder stands. Seat is very comfy, but a little restrictive for side to side movements for bow shots. 1st sighting, 1st opportunity - I'm standing with bow in hand against the tree! In thicker wood/brush lots who knows where they'll end up meandering.
