Look, I could give a crap how you or anyone get their kicks, BUT when you are the ones causing the loud booms in my neighborhood for several weeks BEFORE the 4th of July that make the dishes rattle inside my cabinets, then I will surely call YOU and THEM idiots! Yes, you must have nothing better to do than to disturb the peace and quiet of others.
-
I will never understand why people (most especially adults) get kicks out of spending money on something that will only make a loud boom and not much more. Guns make a boom too, but at least the object is to hit a target accurately with them. Professional fireworks displays can be pretty neat I'll give you that, but having idiots on the street just making lots of noise is pretty much senseless in my honest opinion. I guess they have nothing more interesting to do with their lives.

I guess I'm an old guy because I am not understanding, so please explain what would be so bad about watching a movie?? Two people could get it on just about anywhere, or doing anything if they wanted to.

Here's A Good One For The Tin Foil Hat Crew!
steve863 replied to DirtTime's topic in General Chit Chat
Most of the tin foil hat crew will be sending you cash since: A. they don't use checks or credit cards because they fear that they will be tracked by government. B. they don't use checks or credit cards because they don't have enough money in the bank to cover a check or get a credit line on a credit card. C. Gave up on credit cards after they were embarrassed at Gander Mtn when the cashier said "strip down, facing me". -
Jeez, we would probably be safer sending our daughters on that date with Pygmy then. You figure at his age he probably might have ED, so at least we won't have the "sex" part to worry about. LOL
-
Oh my! Don't know if the original poster (or most fathers) want to hear those two words. We are envisioning a movie, pizza, ice cream, please don't make us think about anything more!!
-
17 year old girls like dating Pygmy. They get a kick out of him losing his dentures when biting into the pizza! LOL
-
Oh man, I just saw this one coming from a mile away. That's all I will say about it.

I really doubt that all this talk about flashing gun metal and trophies in front of the face of your daughters boyfriend will stop them from doing what they want to do. Don't forget it takes TWO to tango, so in most cases all the blame can't fall on the boyfriend. Girls want boyfriends and relationships more than the boys do, so if you put all the blame on the boy you're only looking at the situation the way you want to see it while trying to avoid putting any blame on your daughter. Whatever might happen between them, I think in the vast majority of cases they will BOTH be willing participants. The best anyone can hope for is to instill values in children from a young age and hopefully it will carry thru in their lives once they start making their own decisions. Other than that there isn't much a parent can do about it. If you shoot that wiseass boyfriend, it will be YOUR ass ending up in jail and not his.

If I were penniless and desperate I would eat one, probably even a road killed one if it looked fresh enough, but since I am not I will pass on woodchucks. I will go buy the $2.89/lbs pork loin at the supermarket instead.

You can't beat Harriman State park. Miles and miles of different trails and quiet a few very challenging for being so close to NYC. AT cuts thru the park also. Best place to hike within an hours drive of NYC for sure.

How Canada sees America
steve863 replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Canada also has a federal sales tax AND a provincial sales tax. The Canadians definitely DO get more for their tax money, such as national healthcare, but most of you guys are against that. Lets not even get into owning handguns and trying to carry them. That alone would scare the 2nd amendment crowd away for good. -

Maybe you should move to Canada then, so you could laugh at Americans right along with them? They've only got strict gun laws, higher taxes and a national healthcare system, so you'll probably fit in nicely up there. LOL -
You lost me from the opening scene actually. You started a fire without clearing away any leaves. The wild may live in you, but it seems like you need some instructions from Smokey the Bear. http://www.smokeybear.com/dig-pit.asp

I am the furthest thing from a trophy hunter, but like them or not, they have been the BOOK that the trophy hunter measures his trophies by. You guys are the ones who talk about the big deer you've seen or shot by the B&C standards of measurement, and you don't talk about them using JimBob's standards of measurements or Bubba's standards of measurement, so as archaic group you think they are, they still have considerable relevance in this game.
-
I would agree that it would be unlikely, but NOT impossible. It definitely COULD give a hunter a very considerable advantage. Can someone answer my question about B&C regulations? Would a trophy buck get entered into the book if it were proven that a drone or wireless camera was used and then the hunter went to the location to make the kill? I think I'd be surprised if they were OK with such a scenario.
-
It all comes down to what is considered fair chase. If someone gets a wireless picture sent to them and then they run over to the property to make the kill, would you consider that "fair" chase? I don't think I would. Would this be against Boone & Crocket regulations? I think it might be.
-
You don't need a drone. If you had a wireless camera that could send back pictures, I could see how someone could get themselves into the area quickly and possibly make a kill. Not that this will work in all cases, but it could definitely give a hunter a MAJOR advantage that he would never have had without such technology.
-
I get all that, that technology is advancing and it has advanced with hunting weapons, equipment, etc., BUT how far will things go? From some peoples perspective (including my own) hunting is still a throw back to a primal way of life. Yeah, we have much more advanced weapons than the caveman did, but a modern day hunter should still possess similar skills as that caveman. These days people don't want to drag them out, skin them, gut or process deer themselves anymore, so where does that leave us? If we bag something we are proud of our hunting prowess and will brag about it to whomever wants to listen, yet how much REAL hunting skills do we possess? Add wireless cameras, drones, etc. to the scenario and true hunting skills will diminish even more. All we will be is triggermen and nothing more.
-
What do you think this "plan" is??
-
It sure does look like the state is on some sort of rampage to kill off as many deer as quickly as possible for some bizarre reason if most of the things I am reading on these threads is true. Maybe if they get all the deer killed off, there won't be ANY reasons for NYS residents to own ANY guns at that point? Who the hell knows what they have in mind here?? I guess at this point we are all speculating what they will do for this coming season, since nothing definite has been stated yet. I do however think that the best days of hunting in NYS are well behind us now. NO way in hell that ANY of these proposals will make hunting BETTER in NYS in the future. If there is anything left to hunt, it just won't be worth the effort for most to keep participating in this pastime in my honest opinion.
-
So the state wants people to shoot does before they can shoot bucks, yet property owners don't want to give the people who want to shoot these does access to their land. Well, they are willing to give access to them if they pay the price for a lease, and those leases are generally high because they are based on the BUCKS one could potentially kill on the land. Most of the buck hunters who hunt these properties will maybe kill a doe or two if that, meanwhile the ones who could care less about killing a buck and would be more than happy with a doe or three get left out of the picture completely. Man, tell me that there isn't something very WRONG with this scenario? I know that I'd gladly pass up ANY buck to be allowed to kill a few of these over-abundant does if a landowner would give me the opportunity. And I'd even pay him a reasonable price for being allowed to do so. I bet I'd never get any takes on this offer, however. So we go back to the beginning where there isn't any real, feasible solutions to this.
