Had a 9:00 meeting get canceled this morning, so I geared up and did some still hunting/scouting. Not a tail! Did find a nice tree to put a stand in along the corn though. Got back to the house at 1:30 all sweaty and frustrated, swearing I wasn’t coming back out this evening……. After a change of clothes and lots of water, here I am back out in a stand! I have issues…. Looks liked the diseased ash in my area. I cut ~30 out of my yard last year. The previous owner cut over 200 of them out of the yard before I moved in. (I know because all he left me with was 200+ ash stumps to grind!) I left ~30 other ash in my yard hoping they would make it, but they are all losing bark and only had a few leaves on this past summer. I plan to cut them all this winter. Wow! What a beauty! Sure hope you're feeling well enough to get after him before the season ends!

First, I went to stand along a cornfield that was recently cut that borders my property on the backside. I felt like I stood out like a sore thumb with minimal cover, so I moved to a stand ~150 yards from the corner of the field, hoping to catch something moving towards the corn. About 4:30, I look through some treetops and see 4-5 does and a small buck in the cornfield just about where I was standing earlier. Could have been more deer, but I couldn't see that well. Thinking about throwing up a hang on or ground blind at the back of my property around lunch time tomorrow and hunting it in the evening. Afraid my frustration will get the best of me and I'll shoot a doe or small buck that I really don't want to shoot though. Then again, if it looks promising tomorrow, maybe I'll put my daughter in a ground blind there some evening when she doesn't have school. She's not as picky "selective" as I am!

Just before dark, I saw 2 does bolt out of the corn and run across the neighbor's property. They waited until the combine only had 3-4 passes left before they ran out. Really surprised that's all I saw come out! Another bordering neighbor was out as well hoping to see something spooked out of the corn, but he didn't see anything.

Now that's my kinda blind!!! Enjoy!!
