  1. Had my resident doe and fawn just walk by. I assume these are the same 2 that a basket racked 8pt terrorizes every night in this spot! Guess they thought they would sneak out early, so they can feed in peace! Got several pics of the 8pt running them across my back yard early this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thought of this thread recently. My property is only 3.75 acres. Although it's very small, in acreage, it has a lot going for it. It's a rectangle, only ~60 yards wide by ~375 yards long. One side is bordered by the neighbors thicket for bedding, but the front of the other side ~125 yards is bordered by an ag field, the back 250 cuts across a funnel (large thicket/bedding) that runs in between 2 big ag fields, and the backside is bordered by another ag field. I have a lot of cam activity on my little 3.75 acre property. I jokingly tell people that I don't know of many bowhunters that can shoot all the way across their property (60 yards wide)! LOL I have permission to hunt the 60 acre farm that borders mine also, but honestly, my property seems to get more activity for some reason. I had a buck chasing 2 does through my back yard last night! Pics are recent pics on my 3.75 acres.
  3. Checked cams after my hunt this morning. Man is this one gonna sting for a while!! I posted a pic earlier, but the saved pics on the SD card are better. I was supposed to be on vacation on Monday, but decided to go to work to "rest up", as I was just physically and mentally drained. The ONE and ONLY morning I didn't hunt in weeks and this beauty of a 10pt was all over the property!! Had pics of him passing 5 different stands between 7-11am!! Unbelievable!!! You can see my "unoccupied" stand right over his head, 15 yards away! This is how my season has gone so far!! LOL I'll be putting my daughter in this stand this weekend. Would love it if he would swing by again!!
  4. Just shot a coyote! He was facing me with his nose to the ground, so not the desirable broadside shot. Must have missed his spine as he ran off. Arrow covered in blood and lots of hair on the ground, but just saw specs of blood. Only looked about 10 yards so far, as it’s still early and he ran into a bedding area. Really hate to go in there to disturb anything, especially for a coyote. I’ll look a little more after the hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Wow!! Some beautiful bucks and bear!! Good luck with those! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Pretty depressing, but only a doe and fawn on cam last night. Plan to sit until 10:00 this morning. Have a few things I need to get done in prep for Saturday and I want to stop over to help my son cut up his deer.
  7. BTW, when we walked up to the buck, my son looked at it and said, “Dad, I would have sworn it was wider than that!” I just looked at him, smiled and said, “Son, that’s what we call ground shrinkage!!” LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks. I’ve accepted defeat! LOL No biggie! I’m just gonna ride out the rest of the season in the stand. Just don’t want to look back and have regrets. No guarantees there will be a next season… Hunt Hard or Go Home!! LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Well, my all day sit didn’t go as planned! LOL My son texted me before lunch and said he got a shot at one of the bucks that was chasing does around his stand. Told me not to leave my stand, wanting me to score today. It was more important for me to go be of assistance AND to share in the experience with him. God only knows how many times we’ll be able to share in the experience together, so I headed over. He took the lead and the buck was piled up in ~60 yards! Ran into some pines or my son would have heard and seen him go down. He’s been on vacation for the past 2 weeks and today was his last day off! LOL Got the buck loaded and I was able to be back in the stand by 2:45! Nice!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Too bad for sure! I hate seeing any deer hit along the road. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. My cams had pics of chasing from 10pm-4am, but dead afterwards. Dead, as in not a single pic after 4am. All within a small area too, like 3 acres! Exactly where I’m sitting now, in a strip between 2 bedding areas. Had a good feeling with all that activity, there would be some scent left around to bring bucks through. 11:00, but still just a fawn…. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks pal! I didn’t shoot my buck last year until Nov. 16th, so hoping I’m just a late bloomer! On a positive note, my son is hunting a property about 8 miles away and he’s seen all kinds of rutting action this morning! He’s been at full draw 2 times, but the bucks just won’t stop chasing the does for a shot. They’ve run by as close as 10 yards! LOL He’s the only other sicko that I know personally that hunts more than I do! Hoping he scores today, but if not, it sure sounds like a hunt he’ll remember! Good luck everyone! 13. Just a lonely fawn wandered through so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. From the looks of cams, lots of harassing and chasing going on last night. No real shooters that I saw, but there should be a lot of scent to attract a cruising buck...hopefully. Packed up for an all day sit.
  15. A deer would have been icing on the cake, but it sure sounds like 3 generations made some cool memories! Cherish those hunts with Dad... trust me...
  16. I have a couple monopods. The only thing I didn't like about them was while in a hang on, I always needed to make sure the bottom of the stick didn't slip in between the platform rungs. I came across an attachment that Primos makes for the bottom of the stick, to give it a wider base. 17. That would make a good project for someone laid up with the 'rona!!
  18. I've been noticing the same thing. Members have killed some good bucks this year, but seems like most other years, members kill some slobs!
  19. Learned a tough lesson today! I've been draggin' ass lately from the previous 35 hunts and not seeing squat. I am run down and honestly ready to give up. I woke up this morning, checked my cell cam pics from last night and was really disappointed, but not surprised, to have ZERO deer pics from 10 cams... UGH!! I needed to go into the office one day this week anyways, so I decided I needed a break, and today would be the day. Between 7am-11am, I had pics of a target buck walking by 4 different stands! I take ONE day off in the past month...... SOB!! I was in a stand by 12:30 though, all motivated and ready for all day hunts the rest of the week!! You can see my treestand in the upper left corner. Oh well, if nothing else, I planned to put my daughter in this stand on Saturday anyways.
  20. Forgot my seat cushion,so I’ve been sitting on a freezing cold metal seat for the last 3hrs! That wind is freezing! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Sat from 1:00 until dark…. Nadda thing. Back at it in the morning….. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Wishing I threw on that extra pair of socks!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Nothing moving here in 8H. Had pics of 5-6 does between 3-5am this morning, but no bucks with them or trailing… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. WTF!! Why is this in the "Live From The Woods" thread??
  25. Who could resist those faces!! They are sure cute pups! Was the 3rd one already adopted?
