  1. Been out first two days sat 4 hrs in the mornings, and 4 hrs in the evenings. See 1 small doe opening morning at 7:30 and nothing since. Lots of chipmunks. No deer, no hunters out around here. Too darn hot !! All pics on trail cam are still midnight til 4 am too. Maybe next week when it cools off.
  2. A 16 year old young man died after sustaining a head injury during weekend football game. As a father of 2 high school football players this scares the hell out of me. The young mans team has cancelled their upcoming game this weekend against my sons school. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Damon James, his family, teammates, and the community. http://www.wivb.com/news/local/teen-hurt-in-football-game-passes-away
  3. I haven't been out too much, got a couple trail cams out, stands are up where we left them. haven't been able to shoot much due to 3 back surgeries in the last 8 months. Still hopeful and excited for the season to get here.
  4. LMAO, too damn funny ! I just put them back in my quiver for the next deer.
  5. actually both of these deer were taken October 31st. I hunt start to finish any time I can. I usually take my doe early October if I get a crack at a nice one. I have taken many decent bucks in mid october.
  6. Here are a couple taken with the bow from these DOE locations, taken 2 and 3 years ago. Last year I had back surgery and didn't get in the stand during bow.
  7. While I don't disagree with this, keeping my boys interested and pumped up about the upcoming deer season is more important. Getting our youth involved should be more important than anything. My cams that are out, are not setting on top of our hunting stands, they are anywhere from 100-300 yards away covering areas near by that we know the deer pass through on their way to us. We do use scent control always, and we don't check the cams every day, we go in every two weeks to pull the cards and get out, no pissing around in there.
  8. Im just going to stick it out. I have hunted this area for 25 years and have taken bucks from this area all but 1 year. Including a couple 140s and many 120s. We are on the edge of a 40 acre clear cut that is 8 years into growing back. Very thick, lots and lots of deer hole up in there when the shooting starts on the neighboring state land. The tough part is getting my kids to understand that it takes patience .
  9. I have had my trail cams out for a couple months now, and Im not getting much for pictures of Bucks. I get 25-50 pics of Doe every day though. I think that the bucks in the area are about half mile away in the Corn and Soybean fields feeding. I actually see them there in the evening when scouting so I know there are alot of good bucks hitting the fields. Trouble I have is convincing my two boys ages 14+15 to leave our stands where they. I tell them come rut we will be sitting pretty. I sure hope Im right....... What do you think ?
  10. Gonna be some nice deer next year or two. Talk with the neighboring land owners and see if you guys can get together on some QDMA. Doesn't hurt to check.
  11. There is S&S in Springville, and in the southern tier Auges Archery.
  12. I have shot the Motec G5 for several years, I love them. I best shooting fixed blade (for my set up) that I have found. The broadheads currently on my arrows have been in use for 3 years now. I just sharpen them up and go. I won't use any other.
  13. I have shot Montec G5s for the last several years. I have been very happy with them. They fly great, make big ole holes and when the arrow goes through the deer and into the ground, I just pick it up and sharpen it again ! I love them.
  14. there are some dandy bucks there ! Hope they walk in front of you come season !
  15. Hi everyone, Im new here. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Todd, been hunting for 25+ years with gun, and the last 20 with a bow. I am a US Vet, a nurse for 20 years, and now disabled due to back injuries. I have 2 boys that are 14 and 15 years old that make my hunting experiences much more enjoyable every year ! My lovely wife is like many of yours, doesn't mind if I hunt, and on Oct. 1 kisses me good luck and say she will see me around Christmas !
