The kicker is, he is passing by my sons stand now. My son is in the Coast Guard, currently in A school in VA. He will be home Oct. 26 - November 18th. I might just pass him up so my son may get a crack at him. If he doesn't get him, I may just be looking for him as a 5.5 yr old next year.

It has been a very long road just to get these pics. I have an area that was clear cut 10 years ago. About year 5 I noticed the bucks were hanging in there a ton. So I started trying to figure out how to hunt it. There are apple trees nearly all across one side, and big woods on the other 3. So 3 years ago I started slowly cutting an access trail in. Took 2 full years of no hunting it, but finally got to within 50 yards of their bedding area. Cleared a 20 yd by 25 yrd area in front of the only good tree that I could get up 25 ft. Now Im hopefull for this year.

I think this guy was passing through. Have never seen a bear or any sign of one in this area. Hasn't been caught on any other cams either.

I have hunted 9R state land for 35 years. Pressure the last 4-5 years has dropped significantly because of the lack of doe tags. This year there are none. Hunting is still very good in places. A large chunk of 9R state land is right accross the road from my property and my wife and I watch several mature bucks cross the road to our fields every night. They are there.
