Situation in Baltimore

The Faces Of Baltimore You Won’t See In The News This video clip is not for the faint-hearted. Get ready, this summer is going to be a hum-dinger. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-05-12/face-baltimore-you-wont-see-news -
border patrol checkpoints
The_Field_Ager replied to ncountry's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Setting up checkpoints 50+ miles from any of these accessible border crossing areas makes no sense. I am sure there are roads that a closer to said crossing points. Smugglers are going to need road infrastructure as soon as possible. And if indeed they are crossing over through the barren wilderness, it makes even less sense to be road blocking. A helicopter sounds like a better bet. There is a reason why civilian groups have taken to policing our borders. The authorities have dropped the ball on this problem in a very large way. And now we have ISIS in 49 of the 50 states according to the director of the FBI. BP is a waste of tax dollars at this point. -
border patrol checkpoints
The_Field_Ager replied to ncountry's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The checkpoint in question was carried out by BP but not at the border and not for anyone crossing as far as I know. Illegal and unnecessary in other words. In fact given the state of border security ( we don't have any), these events become even more insulting. When you cross an actual border, there is an expectation of consent in terms of being questioned etc. This is not what happens at checkpoints set-up on roads that are no where near the border or indeed on a crossing point of any description. It doesn't matter who looked at them or when. They are infringing on more than one of our rights. Scotus has lost the plot on more than one legal issue in my lifetime. -

Unless you amend the various constitutional rights that they conflict with, they never become legal. There is no such thing as 'setting a precedent' in these matters. The courts get lazy tho, or rather, they deliberately obfuscate the bigger picture and allow this criminality to continue. The base-line problem is that people don't care enough, or are too scared to stand up for the constant and deliberate infringement of rights. General ignorance obviously plays a large role also. -

Feeling wronged and being forced to endure illegal procedures are two entirely different propositions. Yes, there are ways to get through them with minimal fuss, and hopefully one will not get tazed. But the fact is these 'encounters' have no place in our society and are contrary to law. I hope people don't focus on the bad behavior of the individual involved. These checkpoints are illegal, pure and simple. I could post several cases of folks who handled themselves quietly, and with dignity, but who still ended up on the wrong end of a K9 or a tazer for simply expressing their rights. -

Ar you saying we no longer have the protections of the fourth amendment? When did that happen? And in fact warrantless searches are illegal, accept under the following circumstances, none of which reasonably apply in this situation: You have given the officer consent The officer has probable cause to believe there is evidence of a crime in your vehicle The officer reasonably believes a search is necessary for their own protection (a hidden weapon, for example) You have been arrested and the search is related to that arrest (such as a search for illegal drugs) My guess is that it would be very difficult for the officers to justify number 2 or 3 in a court of law. I am guessing it is almost impossible to justify probable cause at a 'routine' checkpoint scenario, when folk are being forced to stop for no good reason. -

Precisely. And smugglers only need be nervous at the actual border, but of course they 'aint, because we have no real border security anymore. Government powers are being turned inward against the citizenry. That much is obvious. -

The facebook posting details an illegal search of car and trunk. -

Yeah, I can't imagine people wanting a society where they can go about their day-to-day business, unmolested by a police force looking to pin crimes on them. What were our founding fathers thinking about when they enshrined all those silly 'rights' , as a direct result of historic abuse by the former government of the day? Madness. We should all be prepared to hand over our papers the moment an order is barked, and we should be as subservient and cowed as possible. It worked out well for the citizens of Germany. Shouldn't be any different for us. -

At the end of the day, this girl was illegally detained. She was well within her rights to drive away had she verbally confirmed that she was neither being held nor arrested. And the search was also illegal and warrant-less. -
It ain't profiling if it's true. The sad reality is that 93% of black folk killed, are murdered by other black folk. No one can deny there is not a demographic problem here.

border patrol checkpoints

This is ludicrous. No need for it.Keep border searches at the border where they belong, for people actually crossing said border. And the worst part is, we know there is no official desire to ensure we have true border security in this country. Something else is going on here and it stinks. -

This is the whole issue surrounding 'routine' checkpoints. Unless cops are looking for a fleeing suspect or kidnap victims in a trunk, there is no basis for any suspicion and no legal basis for making stops. This is just fishing , and fishing is illegal in America. Legally, the girl's actions are irrelevant. She should never have been stopped. I see these activities as being a form of conditioning for future acceptance. -

Powers not granted by the Constitution mind. -
border patrol checkpoints

Any stop accompanied by a warrant-less search is, by definition, illegal. Citizens are neither obliged to answer questions, or even get out of the vehicle if they feel the line of questioning is irrelevant or potentially incriminating for the owner of said vehicle. Officers are empowered to conduct an arrest if a crime has been committed or suspected. This was clearly not the case here. This was an illegal checkpoint. Papers Please! -

Still doesn't justify illegal stops and searches. What with 'amnesty' (treason) and all, I guess these boys have nothing better to do? Maybe they were looking for home-schoolers in the trunk. -
One lone gobble at 6:15 at some distance away. Back in for coffee. Will sit the last two hours and that will be the end of my season. It's pretty out there, but there are no birds in our woods at this point. Not in the mornings anyhow.
-
One week early would make all the difference. Take the last week off May. In fact I would be OK with a 2 week season. The Turkey get a lot of pressure during this period.

Same thing happened to me a couple of mornings ago. It was misty, which helped me get into position close to a hot spot. Did some calling. A hen got to within 10 yards of me. Came outta the mist to my left. A little turn of my head was all it took for her to see me, start warning calls, and road-runner back in the direction she came from. Any other birds with her likely took off also. Damn their awesome eyesight!
-
Yeah, was thinking the same. The amount of pre May activity was nuts. It feels like it's over now already.

The only good thing about Buffalo is it's diminishing size. 1 entire third of it's population vanished in the last 15 years. Give it another 15 and there won't be many left to riot, or much left to burn down that is of any value. -
totally dead this mornin. Not a peep or squeak
