What makes or breaks certain hunters?
The_Field_Ager replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in Deer Hunting
Don't be afraid to reevaluate stand choices and be prepared to move if needs be. I know it can be tempting to sit tight if you found the perfect tree, with a nice view and good cover. Sometimes a more exposed spot can be better for deer action. This was my 2016 Bow experience. I had a great stand set-up that was consistently 50 yards too far from the action and had to choose a more exposed set-up to get closer. -
What makes or breaks certain hunters?

Its a combo of fruitful observation and putting in the hours. Also knowing when to avoid or move on a spot. It has taken me several seasons to figure out my own little plot of just 40 acres. My success has been a combination of luck early on, but due to solid scouting feedback the last two seasons. But again, you need to put the hours in during those periods that observation and camera info suggests is best. All past failures have been a result of impatience and not putting in the time. How one enters or exists a spot can also be a factor of success or failure. -

There is no proof Bin Laden was killed. I suspect he died years before from Kidney failure. He needed daily dialysis -
Reports- Conservation Officer Shot by Hunter

Dang filthy trespassers. Shows this is often an issue of ethics over intellectual capability. Some folk are just bad. You can't test for that. -

Just another devout Islamist who really really wanted his 72 virgins. -
I think we might be surprised at the lack of common decency and empathy in many of our fellow travelers

Not only was the safety off, but clearly no muzzle control was in effect.

These incidents should be a lifetime loss of license if not caused by mechanical failure of the fire-arm. On top of any charges that might be forthcoming. I am always nervous hunting in groups with unknown people. Which is why I avoid it usually and stay well clear of the property boundaries.

It was a perfect day for shooting a 12 point Buck. Sadly, all the mature Bucks in the land decided otherwise. Another day of non-activity.Saw 1 doe

License Question (Bow Buck Still Eligible?)
The_Field_Ager replied to greenecounty's topic in General Hunting
There is a late Bow season. You can use your Bow tag then, but not till then. Read the regs -
Weather change and gun opener hs clompletey shut down deer movement. Nothing on camera for days coming in or out of the Honey hole. I did see a small spike yesterday on the edge of the cover, but the big boys are layin low. There is hoof and bedding evidence of big deer moving, but they seem to be gone by first light. Need a new plan

Not a Dickie-bird moving this morning. On the way back to the house I did find tracks that led to a large Buck bed from last night. He walked past the stand I got my Bow season 10 pointer from. 40 yard shot. I think it is the Big 6 yr old. He keeps to the thick stuff and low spots as he travels. Noticed this before. I put a camera over the bed and along the route he took into the Honey hole hide away on the neighbors side.I am starting to get a dose of the Mobydick's now that I think he might be over-nighting in our woods. No shots heard until I started back for the house. The neighborhood firing squad has had 2/3 sessions. Always at least 4 shots fired in succession Also managed to lose a cam card that had 5 new honey-hole vids. That is like the 5th card I have left in the woods this year. Super annoying.

Due to work I did not get in my stand till nearly 2pm. 2 doe trotted by, no Bucks came forth from the Honey hole sadly. Heard very few shots. Trespassing a-hole neighbor decided to do a 4pm ATV drive by along the boundary. Sat till 5. It was cold. Planning an early sit 2moro

Sadly I have to work Saturday morning, but my afternoon spot will be a new honey hole entrance at the very bottom of the property into the neighbors. Lots of Buck action on cam. Can't wait to check my cameras later for the last time. New spots are always refreshing.
