  1. What a morning. Got pinned by hens as 2 gobblers approaching from basically same direction as merged together . Both birds henned up and shut down for 20 minutes or so. Semi hit jack brakes and one gobbled again. Went to very soft purrs around side of leg and mostly scratching leaves . Tag #2 punched. Now Samantha comes home this week so hoping to finally get her on her first ever. 3.5” tss 7’s absolutely flatten birds. Stock 2 year old
  2. Day 4. 2 birds gobbling in different spots 150-175 out. Sitting up against same tree I tipped one over opening morning.
  3. Killed a bird opening day and been out 2x since. Both other days had coyotes yipping barking and howling patrolling the woods. Zero chance at birds are going to talk let alone fly down until noon. Saw 2 lbs strutting in plowed field on my way out at 10 other morning. Well within ear shot of where I was, They never gobbled.
  4. Bill , imo stop yelping/ soft clucks , purr and scratch leaves. Every other hunter on public yelps. Just my .02. Shoot a gobbler in the beak today. Good luck
  5. I've had Dinner and Lunch on draft side by side 3x now. Lunch wins IMO Another One pale ale is pretty legit too.
  6. did you trade plywood, 9mm ammo or gas for that haul?
  7. 2 strutters in plowed field on way out. No time to work them today. But have a plan for the next time
  8. This leek patch stinks. One distant shot couple miles off just now. Wood thrushes , crows only noise I have. Going to meandor to where crows sounding off and pull cam off fox den soon. There will be other days
  9. Nothing happening out here as thought. Pretty dang nice morning though.
  10. Screwed again. Happened 2nd time out too. Coyotes at 300-350 now 250-200 yipping , howling barking. This may be a morning without a gobble or they’re going to limb hang all morning
  11. Let’s give this a shot shall we. Only day 3 this year. Hunted 25/26 days last year. Daughter will be home the 20th or so , my hunting buddy will finally be with me again.
  12. piss that hen off. call at her. She yelps 3x you yelp 4. cut at her, cut off her calling. she'll come in looking for a fight and drag ole tom with her
  13. smartwool . Have about 15-18 pairs of all different thicknesses
  14. First pic is TSS 7’s. I opted out of the XR’s as too tight. TSS is more what I want.
  15. They have no idea they were shot at. They think thunder or such. Providing you don’t jump up and he sees you you’re good. May need to use different call or cadence on him next time. I whiffed once , changed slate calls and killed him 3 days later leaning up against same tree
  16. He never opened back up so pulled the plug. Going fishing in a bit.
  17. One roosted gobble few on the deck. He’s off 350 and gone silent. Got some time and work ahead of me now.
  18. Let’s give this turkey hunting thing another whirl this morning. Had opportunities to hunt every day since opener but opted out. Went local today with some fishing coming in the afternoon. Solid day in my book. Good luck to all that are headed out. Saw a kit fox and farther down an adult carrying a bunny. Barred owl and coyotes going right now. Stars are magnificent
  19. 7mm-o8 You can borrow mine or we can go shoot it. I bought to share with Samantha. Shes 100 pounds soaking wet and zero problems shooting it. Pretty sure her youth 20 gauge with field loads has more recoil. LMK
  20. Really needed some woods time . Went to local spot last week to listen. One bird gobbling. Went back today and hit the owl tube at 5, 5:10 and finally he hit me at 5:20. I climbed almost into his living room. Now he’s gobbling on his own. Maybe 100 yards off. Soon a hen 30-35 yards off starts tree talk then another cutting hard. He’s double and triple gobbling. So I joined the fun and cut hard. This Tom was coming fast. I knew he’d crest a small ridge and boom there he is full display at 60. Hens still tree talking but he’s headed to the one on the ground. Me ! I did not want to get into a pissing match with these gals. I then went soft purrs and scratching only. He’s still coming. More tree talk by others. He comes in to about 40 yards tilting his fan . I’m only scratching leaves now. He comes another 5 yards . Burris fastfire 3 on. Tactacam ready to go on barrel. Started to get into some thick stuff so aborted tactacam. Red dot on his head. Squeezed off a 3.5 tss 7 and bang no flop. Finally the hens pitch out. Quick hunt but awesome . 20.5 lbs -1” Spurs - 8.75” beard
