  1. adkbuck, not sure how you took my post as me trying to prevent anyone from expressing their opinion. that's what we're all doing here. my post was simply expressing my frustration with the too-common anti-science stance.
  2. Of course he's wrong. Next, he'll revert back to the 'science is for liberals/elitists/mindless.....'position.
  3. Yes, anyone can produce a study. And, yes, there are biased studies that are produced to further agendas. However, anyone who actually knows anything about science or the 'scientific method' knows how to tell a bogus study from a legitimate one. Doc, do a little research of your own on the subject- maybe it'll save you from wiriting another longwinded but empty post. Look up the term 'peer reviewed', look at who funds the research, look at what publications publish the studies. 'Good old healthy skepticism' can be useful. But, without any good old fashioned knowledge of a subject, skepticism is just thickheadedness.
  4. 'Everything gets treated the same' because a bunch of lame brains have learned that, among a large portion of the population, it's perfectly acceptable to simply disregard a legitimate scientific study if that study yields results that you dislike. You don't even have to argue the science. Just simply reject it out of hand. Just claim that it's another study done by a bunch of elitist academics.
  5. I agree with Espresso. It's a shame that science-denial has become the standard response to any new information that might lead to us having to make changes or endure inconvenience.
  6. There are already laws against using lead in certain situations, no? Not sure if it's statewide, but we have to use steel to hunt ducks in my area.
  7. Firstly, I never made any such suggestion. I just laughed at yours. Secondly, the 'evidence' that you posted are accusations. Do you have anything that shows how those cases turned out? Cause, if there's anything that any of us know from reading all your silly posts, anyone can make an accusation.
  8. Wow, Papist. Of all the ridiculous nonsense that you've posted, you may have just outdone yourself with that statement. Even the dumbest O'Reilly-loving clowns know that Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization. They have offices in the areas where they're needed most so as to provide access to their services. Maybe the fact that you've been mostly ignored on the forum for a while compels you to try even harder for the attention that you need.
  9. Using the comparison made earlier in this thread, there are legal age minimums for driving a car. Would it be unreasonable to have the same for guns?
  10. I don't seem to be able to copy and paste the link. But, if you want to take a look at the sales listing, it's on LandWatch.com....20 Acres, Virgil, Cortland County.
  11. I'll try to post some pics. It's in Virgil, inside Tuller Hill State Forest.

    Hunting land

Thanks Vincy. I'm heading up there tomorrow to set some cameras.

    Hunting land

I picked Otsego because the harvest numbers are good, doe tags numbers are good, and the turkey hunting is supposedly excellent. Plus, the price per acre is far better than most other areas further south.

    Hunting land

I'm focused on Otsego County- i'm actually about to close on a property. Live on Long Island.
  15. For the big game season. The cabin could easily sleep three; four would be a squeeze. You could have a bigger hunting group because of all the surrounding State Forest Land- very little hunting pressure in there.
  16. I'm going to lease my property in Cortland County. It's 20 acres with a 14 x 14 cabin with an upstairs sleeping loft and outhouse. The cabin is no-frills, but comfortable to sleep in with a kerosene heater; has battery powered lighting. The land is surrounded on three sides by State Forest. Asking $450.
  17. Was hoping for a bit of advice from anyone who's had a well installed recently. I'm planning to have a well drilled on a piece of property I'm buying for a hunting camp. I've spoken with a site prep contractor who would take care of the excavation and the septic, and would subcontract the well drilling. Am I bettor off contacting a well driller myself, or would you generally expect the site prep/excavation guy to coordinate the well. Thanks.
  18. I got mine today at Dicks. No problem.
  19. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll definitely look into the permit question. The site is in the Burlington/New Berlin area. The builder is based in Richfield Springs.
  20. Was hoping for some advice. I'm closing on a new piece of hunting land soon and am planning on having a cabin shell built. I got a couple of estimates and was surprised at how high the numbers were. I just got a quote from an Amish builder and the price was much lower. Does anyone have any personal experience with Amish construction? I'd like to hear what you think about the quality of work. Thanks.
  21. Maybe add a 'Pissing Contest' category where the monitors can move threads like this one and the 'never ceases to amaze me' one when they've gone off topic and become pissing contests to see who'll get the last word.
  22. On Long Island, you're more likely to run out of arrows than tags.
