  1. As others have mentioned, it's very liberal regarding doe tags out here. Good luck.
  2. I store my hunting clothes in plastic totes with earth wafers and/or a few pine branches thrown in. Get dressed in the field. Before the season, I wash everything in scent free detergent, use an earth scented dryer sheet, and then hang everything outside for a few days. Then, toss it all in the totes.
  3. Great story. You're very lucky and so are your parents.
  4. How many tags are you expecting to need in your first season?
  5. A friend of mine at work wants to lease it just for hunting. I was hoping to figure out a fair price.
  6. Yep, Snyder Hill Road- how'd you know that?
  7. It looks like I'm about to purchase a new hunting property. I still haven't sold my current land and would like to lease it for the coming season. Does anyone have any idea about lease rates? It's 20 acres in Cortland county, surrounded by State Forest. Has a small cabin on it.
  8. There have been a few threads on here recently from clubs that are looking for new members.
  9. Ants, you seem to be the only one that wants to talk about his hair and his clothes. Why is that?
  10. It doesn't bother me that he has long hair. What bothers me is that when 'whacky' gets associated with the gun debate, it's not necessarily good for gun owners.
  11. He's an excellent debater and his knowledge and passion are what impress gun owners. He's also an extremist and a bit of a crackpot- and that's why he probably does more harm than good for his own causes. His tv show where he hunts exotic animals in game preserves and rants about trying to kill as many animals as possible so as to taunt anti-hunters probably doesn't win anyone over either.
  12. They should protest his music. The man is a great guitar player. But, his songs sound like they're written by an eighth grader.
  13. It wouldn't allow you to drive deer- that'd be 'assisting another hunter' and would be considered 'hunting'.
  14. I think it's a fair point. If you are qualified to buy a license, but only want to act as a mentor to a junior hunter who is required to be accompanied by a licensed hunter, you should be able to obtain a mentor's license without having to purchase a tag if you don't want to actually hunt.
  15. Looks good. Will PT lumber take stain?
  16. JRM, you are confusing the situation. It is the junior hunter who needs to have a licensed hunter with him. If the mentor were supervising a fully licensed hunter, the mentor would not need his license so long as he is not assisting in the taking of game.
  17. I think you have a valid point about the licensne, Youngre. But, I think you need to have a thicker skin also.
  18. Looks good. Better to replace/repair them a little too early than a little too late.
  19. Seems like a fair point. You should be able to renew your license without buying a tag.
  20. Thanks. Really interesting stuff. As someone who doesn't know anything about farming,it sounds like a ton of work and a pretty fair expense.
  21. Just curious. Do you all plant these plots specifically for hunting purposes? Or, do they serve other uses as well?
  22. I've never seen them here on Long Island before this year. But, I've seen two hens with groups of about eight poults. Unfortunately, they were both right near roads and I'm pretty sure that at least one of them was run over.
  23. I think that's the whole point about the 'opencarrytexas' loons. Concealed carry wasn't an issue, as far as I know. It was these goofballs walking around coffee shops and department stores with AR's slung over their shoulders just to show that they can.
  24. The issue was with 'open carry', no? How would anyone have any idea if a person was legally carrying a concealed weapon?
