  1. My 85 yr old grandfather is going through chemotherapy for cancer. He’s well aware of my beliefs and feelings as I am his. We don’t kiss and hug and keep our space. If we’re doing something together we take different trucks etc. other than that I live my life as normal without fear or worry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Honestly although myself and many others here don’t seem very concerned about it if you’re concerned enough to make a post than I wouldn’t go if I was you. I wouldn’t want to worry about it while at the most relaxing place on earth. But if you’re worried about it every day now than maybe you have a different opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I load all my speed loaders with a auto powder dispenser. Never measured them by volume because I already had the dispenser for reloading. a few grains by volume either way won’t effect accuracy enough to matter. If I didn’t have the dispenser I would just measure by volume and not worry about it. Incase you don’t know what a auto powder dispenser is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I drilled holes in my leftovers and used them for sinkers! 20 years ago they were one of the best on the market and I killed a lot of deer with them, luckily the market has changed drastically in 20 years! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Unless you have underlying health issues I wouldn’t even think about it. The mental fatigue of worrying about it is far more deadly than the virus itself to healthy individuals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. My velocity gains plateaued at 77grains by weight. 2140fps is my muzzle velocity with the 200gn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Regular XTP’s never held together and the mags never expanded, ymmv but I’ve found both .451 “460S&W” options from Barnes to perform perfectly in the 15ish deer I’ve killed with them. Blackhorn’s website shows a 300gn bullet at 1600-2000 FPS at the muzzle hornady data show a working velocity for the 300gn magnums at from 1100-2100fps. Now I don’t put much weight in paper ballistics but they should work in perfectly in a muzzleloader and they haven’t for me and many others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. XTP’s are a very popular muzzleloader bullet. They’re loved or hated. I’m with the hate group. I’ve just never had good expansion with them unless you hit big bone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I’m sure he could, don’t know if he’ll need it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Ditch the knuckle buster you’ll never use it. Cva’s are back bored so the bullet will start with the ram rob. Never owned a range rod so I couldn’t tell you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I won’t sell it, it’s getting replaced by a woodman arms .50cal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Its very well balanced, I do like it a lot! My only complaint is that it’s a little thick at the balance point where I carry it. That being said it’s replacement is already here but I don’t know if I’ll get to setting it up this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Where do you live, that’s what I have. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. That makes sense. 3 pellets won’t make much difference other than wasting pellets unless you’re shooting a 300gn bullet. I wouldn’t blame that miss on a lack of range finder it was a lack of getting the most out of your equipment. I’ve described it before on here but i seriously recommend for everyone to zero their guns in to whatever range it works out to be no more than 3” high or low. That way you don’t have to worry about ranging or Kentucky windage for zero to ...yds. My main hunting muzzy that works out to 185yds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. What range were you zeroed at? Most of my muzzy’s are only 3-4” low from 150 to 200yds? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. For cleaning I use a bore snake. I store all my muzzleloaders with the breech plug out unless it’s loaded so I never use any grease or oil on that. Only thing that takes any time is the breech plug and I use a torch cleaner and a parts washer for that.Black horn shoots plenty clean to only have to snake it clean. If you’re getting residue that doesn’t wipeout while using blackhorn it’s probably from the sabot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Not crazy at all. A deer has a pretty big kill zone and are pretty easy to kill. Yes a lot of bullets don’t work the way we want on game. I want a bullet that will go end for end at any possible angle and make 2 holes. If you have any guns that don’t print small enough groups let me know, I love inaccurate rifles almost as much as hefty blondes! I spent my military career worrying about accuracy and hitting targets at long ranges. I’ve loaded my own ammo since I was a young teenager. I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I don’t worry about accuracy and punching holes anymore, I still shoot thousands and thousands of rounds a year but less than 20 of them are off a bench. I’ll put my skill against mechanical accuracy in real world conditions any day of the week. This gun will hold a 6” group at 75yds free hand if I do my part. This buck was over 100yds and he didn’t seem too happy that I missed the hair I wanted to hit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I’m the opposite, I couldn’t care less about accuracy within reason, I’m way more concerned about what the bullets going to do when it gets there than what hair it hits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. It’s a wives tale Grampy. It’s the old friend of a friend said... thing. A lot of people that have never used them have opinions. In my opinion it’s the best deer bullet ever made. Before I went copper is all I would use. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I drilled out my breech plug, don’t remember the size, I could figure it out if you’d like. Not sure if they make a 209 breech plug now or not. I’ve had two triumphs, and both ones I wore out the hinge pin and both t/c was unable/ refused to fix. Not a huge deal but it loosened the action enough so they would opens on its own from time to time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. From someone who owns around 12 modern muzzleloaders and have had another 10 or 15 because I love to tinker with them and have been doing it for about the last 20 years. Here’s what I’ve came up with after burning pounds and pounds of powder. Buy whatever gun you want, I would avoid traditions and like CVA but t/c’s aren’t bad, I just had a less than ideal experience with their c/s and it put a sour taste in my mouth about them. I highly recommend a nitride finish, when applied properly it’s the best finish available today. Blackhorn 209! I’ve shot it all from 777 powder to their pellets, white hotts, shockey gold and a few others I’m forgetting none compare to blackhorn. Primers, I’ve had my best luck and most consistent velocity’s with Remington sts primers. They’re easy to find and perform the most consistent when shooting through a crono. Harvester crush rib sabots easiest loading cleanest sabot I’ve shot. Leave zero plastic residue in barrel! I have yet to find a gun that doesn’t shoot these sabots well! Bullets there’s lots of good ones but I shoot barnes XPB 460 S&W .451 200gn. They shoot moa and perform amazingly on game! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. If I hunted state land or land where I couldn’t use screw in steps I wouldn’t have gotten into a saddle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Sorry for your loss, there’s no love like the love of a good dog! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Local Little fella was recently diagnosed with leukemia. His favorite thing is trucks so the community came together and set him up a convoy, this is what small town America is all about! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
