  1. We have been hitting Howland Island part of the northern Montezuma. Takes time learning new land. I will need to bow hunt it next year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. The wind has hit me from my left, my right and straight in in less that's an hour. Only direction it has not blown from so far is direct east. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Look out window hey cool a fresh dusting of snow. 32 get to stand and it starts raining. No rain in forecast. Pull forcast back up showers in area! Ya think!! Oh well I got no problem shooting one in the rain! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Nada tonight, TF shot one so I couldn't! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Well done Turkeyfeathers!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hunted 12/5 out back in the far stand am and pm. Had 2 inches fresh snow in the am and went up to 41 by 10 so it melted pretty good but still had a covering on ground in the evening. Around 4 pm had a nice buck work up from my rear right. Had no good shots as he worked towards my front following the top of a slight drop down. I found a shooting lane with a little opening around 90 yards out I felt good with. He went behind a tree right before it and I'm looking through scope waiting for head then shoulder and I get left ham and ass. He decided to turn down right before he cleared the hole. Oh my! 2 more steps! I'm in shotgun zone so my range has limitations. I maybe woulda been better off with the TC Triumph 50 but second guessing is easy and I had the slugger. Also bumped one by the tower coming out. So close![emoji22] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I'm working early to get out early to sit the stand I saw the buck last night later this afternoon. Probably never see him again but it was nice seeing him. Good luck out there this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Just sad right now! Best buck I've seen all year comes out from behind me out right. Too far and thick but he is following the top of a drop off slowly bringing him closer. He's over 100 out but he's headed towards one spot maybe 90 I have a 3 foot clear opening. Safety off he goes behind tree I'm waiting for shoulder in the scope and get ass! 2 steps all he needed but he decided to turn down. Bummed. I bleated and grunted and snort wheezed he stopped but would not commit and walked outa my night. Jumped one above the tower coming out as well. Nice buck not real big but at least a 2.5 maybe 16" wide. When I first saw him I didn't think much due to the thinness between his back and gut. He musta been pretty slimmed from the rut. 2 steps he's a been d e a d Arrrrrrrr Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Out every day possible. Been a bad season with just one deer down. Freezer is in bad condition. Can't believe how bad gun season has gotten! I've lost a couple properties and have not replaced them and it has really hurt our success. That and the decline in one state spot that used to produce is a real pickle. Heck I even started hunting some state land in 8F where they give out bonus tags and I still can't see a deer lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Back at it. In same stand as earlier. Snow off trees so can see good and just a covering left on the ground. Still no tracks so I did not miss all the activity lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. 32 surprise 2 inches snow. Not sure how long it will last, temp supposed to go up to 40 by 10. I have today off but most likely will go to work after first watch. Not seeing a deer in the last 30 plus hours of hunting does that to ya. Gotta see one sooner or later and possibly over 60 pounds[emoji85] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Hunted Thursday morn, Friday morn, Saturday half day and Sunday all day. Not even saw a deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Matters if the smell smoke on occasion. If it is a new smell they may avoid the area.
  15. I'm hoping for a lotta luck, done with no luck, bad luck and shit luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Nothing this morn and not much shooting. Did a bit of wandering to try to kick up a deer after sitting. No luck. Had lunch at the truck and now in a new spot for evening watch. State land 8f and the deer are hunkered down lol and not many hunters out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Got out a bit later this morning. Bummed my son is sick. He had soccer yesterday so was planning on and all day today. I knew it wasn't good when he fell asleep at 5pm and didn't want to get up at 5am! So I eased in at first light back to near where we were opening day in 8F no snow and about 32. Cmon deer my freezer is in sad shape! Glad lots of you are starting to see more movement it gives me hope! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Nada this morning. One semi fresh track all morn. Did 5 miles Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I only rinse the cavity if a deer has been gut shot. And then I am careful to pay dry and hang with cavity propped open to dry that outer layer as quick as possible. Washing the meat just promotes bacteria. No need on a deer cleanup gutted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. 31 fresh snow little wind Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Way to go man!! I was JKin ya earlier!! Wow that rack looks very lite colored in the pic! True bone colored.
  22. maybe it's roadkill he didn't say he shot it!! I need to weigh myself with gear! I may have 61.5 pounds beat lol, I hope not I don't carry those big sandwiches !!
  23. 41 degrees here. Up a [emoji268] for a couple hours before work. Did see a small one last evening. I got stuck on a conf call so at 4 just took a walk down the field trail out back and had a little one pop outa the brush on me. Sat four outa five mornings so far this week and no deer. Sooner or later one will make a mistake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I started a biggest loser challenge during bow with friends and family. I started at 244 and I was 213 this morning. Looking to hit 199 at least. I have not been under 200 since about 10 years ago when I was under chemo. I usually always lose 10 pounds during hunting season as it is but cutting out junk and crap food make a huge difference. As well as cutting down on some beer.
  25. Thats what I was thinking, good way to dump that fine looking sammy!! Tempting fate!!
