  3. I'm thinking wounding any animal, even a coyote, is not in my plans. If I shoot at anything it is not a wing and a prayer. On top of that one of my arrows with broad head is 20 bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Live from a conference in Chicago. Meetings 8am -6pm then dinner and speaker until 9pm. It's so exciting I can update you all day!! Not Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I always wait 30-45 min after hit. Then get down and check what the hit site tells me . I do all I can to not let one sit overnight unless the signs show me I have too. I have lost a few to coyotes. I have had 160 pound + deer gone except hide and bones in less than 10 hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Way to go Rebel!! Nice looking doe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Get well Grow!! Now if you need someone to keep an eye on those stands for a while........
  9. I had mine both out when I was 25 or so. I recall it was not a fun time. I am pretty sure you need a week or two in the stand to recover though!! After they were out I was sick a whole lot less.
  10. 10/11 pm 62 Got out for the last two hours in my far stand out back. Warn and real quiet out. Around 5:45 i had my first deer sighting of bow season 2016!! About 80-90 yards out I had two flat heads cut behind me out across my left. They were feeding and ran off up the ridge. About 15 minutes late I had 2, i think the same two, run from the ridge out front across in front of me and around my right to settle down behind me. They then walked right to me. One was a button and the other was just about the same size. Maybe she was his mom but dang she was not big. They ate pretty much under my stand and within 30 feet of me for 15 minutes or so and then wandered off. I am off to Chicago in the am for business so I am not back into the woods until Saturday.
  11. Was real tempted to spit a sunflower seed straight down on this buttons head! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Just for next time... If your broad heads were sharp you should have hair at the hit site. Sometimes one of the hardest things is finding the exact spot when your excited. I have tracked a lot of deer and helped quite a few others. At times I have had hunters adamant the deer was right here when they hit it only later find out by tracks, hair and even blood that they were yards off at times. So when you shoot pay attention to a few things. Did you see arrow hit? Is arrow still in deer? If so where and how much is in/ out of deer. Deer reaction to hit and sounds. Watch deer until out of site and immediately mentally mark that spot and where the deer was at shot. If you are elevated it all looks different from the ground. Mark hit spot with flagging tape, and as you find blood it helps establish a line of direction. Two things jump out to me. Not finding the hit spot and you should have seen an arrow in him running away. Could you actually have missed him and hit a tree or branches, rocks... Behind him? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Eddie I hear you! I am afraid to weigh mine. Over the weekend I had double thermoses, drinks, folding stools, snacks, hot seats.... Cause my son was with me. By Sunday evening he had his own pack lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Well back to bow hunting. I was lazy this morning after going at it hard for youth. Had a nice frost but .... I am out in my favorite setup out back for a couple hour sit. Warm and quiet we will see! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. 10/11 pm 45 Changed it up a bit tonight and hit public land in Tully for the last couple hours of youth season. No luck. He will be back at it with the crossbow second week of November for the rut. I needed to put a little more thought into ground watches with all the leaves on the trees! 18. We are out for last youth watch on State land in Tully. A few deer have been taken of this ridge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. 10/10 am 38 It was nice and cold this morning. Conner threw an extra layer on,this will be his coldest sir yet. In the blind out back for 3 hours. A little before 8 and a few minutes after he had a quick nap he spotted a doe walking right at us. Then a little one came running by her and she started running and they came straight at us and cut by our side through a thicket across the creek bottom. She stopped behind a tree and the little one, a button, ran back by us and into the small field opening and hit our mock. He is jumping all over on his back legs trying to get into the licking branch lol. He then runs back to her and they head straight away slowly offering no shot. They get up the hill 80 yards or so and she turns and runs right back by us to stop 20 yards from us staring right at us. We couldn't move quick enough to switch Windows and we're stuck for like 5 minutes, 40 if you ask Conner lol, in a stare off. She is high alert and does a couple stomps and snorts. She knows something is off. She finally turns and bounds straight away. I got her to stop with a bleat but she was in some brush with no shot. We were close just one of those where luck was with the deer. It was nice finally seeing a deer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. 10/9 pm Took my son down to the deep hole stand set up. We were on the ground so it was a bit different and slimmed down actual shooting openings. The wind was right and he wanted to hunt there so we gave it a whirl. It was a nice bit but nothing. My bro was bow hunting up on the ridge and no luck either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. We hung it up around 10:15, the boy ran outa hot chocolate! Now to come up with a plan for the afternoon hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I try to take a good sized doe. Fawns taste great but the 20 pounds of meat is poor resource management in my area. You double that take at least on a 1.5 yo. There are very few dry does around most does you see alone have a fawn or fawns somewhere. I also avoid the matriarch doe cause that can really effect future deer movement in an area. And I have one doe I avoid because she has had 3 fawns multiple years and I like that! I have not seen her this year though. On the frost question. The first good snap in cold weather I tend to see more activity and the first snowfall as well. The deer still need to eat, drink, sleep and mate as usual. Movement is more reliant on food than anything except for bucks in the rut. Weather effects on how much they move, when and for how long as does hunting pressure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. My son was in the same exact pose earlier except the mask was up over his eyes lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
