He started nodding his head and threw it off. And then he jumped sideways like a fawn does almost glad to be rid of it... He was glad to be rid of it because he knew he would have a better chance of not being shot! Can you imagine that thing growing out of your head and then it gets loose.I wonder if it is as bad as when I was a kid and had a loose tooth.Couldn't wait till it finally came out!

Renting a cabin is a great experience at Letchworth.I have many wonderful memories from the C cabins.I agree with the gun hunting you have to be cautious and know who is around(not always possible),I have heard slugs go by me before. After the first week of gun I have gone there and not seen another hunter.I would recomend it.

An interesting thing happened to me today!!
132 eight pointer replied to Paulie's topic in General Hunting
In my experiences with people that cannot have a debate about any topic, as soon as "facts" are questioned or disagreed with, the insults fly or the topic is changed in order to run away from ignorance.I have experienced this no matter how cordial I behaved.Remember you can't teach a pig to sing.(aside from Miss Piggy of course). -
Does that sign in the background also say "smallest" deer? Oops missed the earlier post!

I usually hunt there a few times a season.Early bow can be busy in the campground area.I heard there were a lot of hunters in there opening day.I went later in the season and I didn't think it was too bad.Opening of gun season is usually pretty busy and then the number of hunters tapers off.Letchworth is a large area for hunting. If you don't mind walking or possibly dragging up and down hills you can get away from other hunters.I heard some complaints about not seeing many deer this year in Letchworth.I have been going hunting there for about 20 years now. Some of the spots I go to make me feel like I walked in to the past so I enjoy going there. You will need a permit to hunt there.Permits are by mail. You will receive a map with the permit that outlines what areas can be hunted. Not all of the park is open to hunting but Letchworth is 17 miles long so there are plenty of spots. Also there is an antler restriction in place.3 points on one side unless it is a junior hunter and then any buck is open.(I believe that is the rule).I have experienced some nice size deer in the park.I have also seen a lot of young deer there. No different than anyplace else I suppose.

Heartbreaking to say the least. -
Very cool picture.I love seeing these pieces of the past. Some of my ancestors were from Italy as well.I don't know if any of them hunted.I will have to ask some of my cousins.I bet those shotguns would be nice to have.

Slugs, broadheads,a gambrel deer hoist,a book called "A Hunter's Heart" and I already bought a new climbing stand and shotgun before the season.

squirrels how to hunt them
132 eight pointer replied to nonnie's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I always see them when I sit.Treestand.fallen tree or tree seat sitting.I always have squirrels close if I am in hardwoods.Sometimes it takes a little while especially in the snow. You should see the nests in the trees easily now.If I remember right sunny winter days are better but it has been a while since I hunted squirrels. -
Does Easter Bunny stew taste like jelly beans?

Remember too that some of us only get out on the weekend or even just Sun. unless we take vacation time. Not everyone can hunt after work during the week due to a variety of reasons.

Have you ever tried the disposable hand/foot warmers in your boots? $2.00 for six of them. When it is below freezing I put one inside the front of each boot.No cold feet for me.

Congratulations.

I went this morning.pushed a small deer past a guy in our group but it was too small.Jumped 2 doe that were bedded in the snow less than 100 yds from where another of our group was sitting. No shot. The deer were not moving much from what the 4 of us saw.tracks in the snow all around though.

132 eight pointer replied to jimbo91's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Totally your call.If you can afford to spend more you may wan't to "upgrade". Just like cars not every gun is a lemon.Go online and read reviews. -
Congratulations. You will never forget today. Those button bucks are like veal btw.

That is what I call a heart attack buck.If I didn't have a heart attack when I saw him I might soon after. I am not sure if I could remain calm enough to make an accurate shot but I sure would like to find out. ???
