  1. On the flip side, it's been 110*+ in Australia for the last month or so. Not sure I'd wanna' trade. You just can't get naked enough for that kinda' heat.
  2. I didn't mean to suggest that it was irrelevant. My apologies. Definitely a must-read, but when I saw "...legislature debates...next month..." my radar twitched and I checked the date. I thought His Majesty was trying something new that I hadn't heard about.
  3. Although the posted article is, as they say, "old news", it makes for an excellent reminder of where the thinking is for some of the people in power. I'm doing what I can to inform and motivate the people I come into contact with in regards to this tyranny. These people can be voted out. The numbers are on our side if we can get them to the polls.
  4. To the OP and the thread title: Of course he's raised the ante, he thinks he's holding the whole deck. And he may not be far from wrong in that thinking. We're outraged, sure, but how many of us are actually doing something about it? There is a lot of disorganized opposition to this tyranny, standing against a fair amount of highly organized support for it. I don't have any answers to this dilemma other than better organization. Pick a couple of issues and organize around those. Second Ammendment rights is of concern to all of us on this forum, so let that be the number one issue. My personal number two issue would be the fact that it's becoming impossible for me to survive here as a small construction contractor. Workers comp, liability, fees, and the rest of the hidden taxes which have skyrocketed. We've got 9 months to get organized and form a battle plan to remove this joker. Let's not get sidetracked by the things that we don't agree on, get tough on the things that we do agree on and send that message to Albany.
  5. Very similar to what I do but I've had excellent results with a crock-pot. I like that I can mix everything in the crock the night before, stick it in the fridge, then drop it in the cooker in the morning and come home to eats. I like that I can keep the venison chunks bigger, 1" to 1-1/2" cubes in the crock. You can cut it with a spoon when it's done anyways. Try a tsp or two of worcestershire sauce either way, and a light coating of fine flour on the meat works as well.
  6. This from a man who has made his millions from a long list of violent shoot-em-up movies! Hypocracy at it's best. And the chatter already coming from both sides is astounding.
  7. L.O.L. Careful what you wish for. I' driven through that area hundreds of times over the years and the deer are something to see. The fence is not deer-proof by a long shot. I think the deer tend to stay there because they want to.
  8. Make sure your neighbor has a nice garden, and that you're surrounded by thick stuff! HaHa.Seriously though, get your setup right, only hunt when the wind is pretty much perfect, and don't overhunt it. I may only hunt the 'back yard' 4 or 5 times during bow season even though I'm out there 3 or 4 times a week year round. I target shoot back there and cut firewood and the deer don't seem to care. I've had them come right in to the sound of a chainsaw. But go out to hunt them and they'll leave.?I've been here for 3 seasons. First year I took a 9-point on the second day of bow season. Second year nothing. Nov 1 this past season I took a 5-pt that wandered in as I was packing up to quit for the day. By the time gun season rolls around the bucks are 'gone' from my parcel during daylight.?? I'm guessing they migrate towards the bean and corn fields a half mile away to fatten up for the winter.
  9. Went to architecture school and worked for a firm for a few years before starting a custom woodworking business. Played some music as well. Had some good times!
  10. Thanks for the welcomes! Fasteddie, I spent a few years hunting in the Ontario/Walworth corridor, and south into Macedon before Gananda got really built up. Long time ago but I remember the big deer there for sure. These days I just try to put one in the freezer to keep my belly happy.
  11. Pretty depressing to be all fired up on opening morning, sitting in your stand, watching the sun come up, totally psyched, and see an orange blob in a tree 50 yards away from you. Been there a few times. I guess the other guy was probably thinking the same thing. Running quads all over and having a shoot-fest, though, is just disrespectful and wrong. But, you roll with it and learn from it. Make the idiots part of the game plan if possible. I've taken some nice deer over the years by carefully using the idiots. Sorry to hear about your hassle.
  12. Hey Folks, Just stumbled onto this site while looking for some fur prices, and thought I'd join. Mid-fifties, avid shooter and hunter, looking to swap info and stories with fellow nyers. Currently located in the Geneva area but spent 20 yrs in Buffalo and hunted a lot around Springville and Franklinville. My back 'yard' is an acre of woods that keeps me in venison and limb-chickens, although I spend some time in Wayne county as well. Looking forward to being involved here. Thanks
