Defending his rights or avoiding taxes?

Bloomberg to spend $50 MIL
philoshop replied to WingNut's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
And for anyone watching the showdown in Nevada and understands the politics of it, http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/bloomberg-reid-donation-pac/2014/01/07/id/545654/ Power being flat-out bought and sold. Shameful! The response from the White House? Not a peep. The response from the Supreme Court? There should be more of it. Apologies for the thread-jacking, but this crap pee's me off. -

A little more of his thinking, http://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/bloomberg-nyc-heaven-gun-control/2014/04/16/id/565881/ His arrogance knows no bounds. -
Pygmy, probably Mossbergs. Korean War era small arms training rifles. Great shooters with roughly the same weight and balance of the M1 Garands and a lot them came with factory aperture sights. I'm not that old but I've owned several of them over the years.

The headline should have read Johnson and johnson survive! Hey, my family name is Johnson and I've been dealing with it my whole life. And for anyone old enough to remember it, "...you can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay...but ya doesn't has to call me Mr.Johnson..." LOL

Good post BKhunter. The current admin doesn't like the way those numbers from the census data look either. So they're working to change the way the census reports it's information. The proposed changes are geared towards altering the image of the expected results of Obamacare, but it's the same story. I looked for the story on Newsmax where I read about these proposed changes this AM, but for some reason it's gone. I'll look for another link.

Most important for me has always been noise. You have to move to draw a bow, and combining noise with that movement is a definite no-no. Lightly scratch your fingernails on the fabric. If you hear anything at all there's a good possibility a deer will hear it from twenty yards away. I don't buy any outerwear that I can't hold in my hands for a scratch test first. As stated above, layering is the way to go for most of bow season, with a relatively lightweight and quiet outer shell. And buy the clothing early enough that you have time to wear it during practice so that you are comfortable shooting in it. Best of luck

Today Is A Special Day!
philoshop replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Guess I am as well, although I did send in the tax paperwork without payment. Interesting how the govt is much more concerned about the paperwork than the money. Late payment and even non-payment are viewed as a rather minor offense, up to a point of course. But cause a hiccup in the bureaucratic machine by not doing the paperwork in the prescribed manner and they'll definitely get their panties in a bunch over it. -
Defending his rights or avoiding taxes?

Actually Bundy is the last cattle rancher remaining in that part of Nevada. The other 52 have given up and left, due in large part to the increasing restrictions in the federal grazing contracts. This is one reason why he stopped paying the fees. That and the fact that the govt wasn't keeping their end of the agreement. He offered to pay the county and/or the state rather than the feds because he realized the money he was paying the feds was essentially being used to force him and the other ranchers out. As they say, "That's when the fight started." This has been going on for 20+ years. It's become 'recent' news because the federal govt opted for the use of draconian measures of intimidation and sent a small 'army' to try and settle things. No one really knows when the BLM became an armed force, but that's for another thread. People from the area decided enough was enough and rallied to stand up to what they consider an unlawful invasion. Can't say that I blame them. -
Sorry to hear about the hassle. Hopefully it was an isolated incident.

Dear Abbey, I did my taxes today, and also filled out the registration forms for all of my guns. None of my guns are actually illegal but I figured I might as well get a jump on it since I was doing silly paperwork anyway. Problem is I found it necessary to drink a couple of beers during this exercise in nonsense, and I think the IRS might be getting my firearms registration forms, and I have no idea where my tax forms will end up. I'm thinking they'll all get it sorted out amongst themselves due to inter-agency communication and all. Should I be worried?

Finally doing it.....moving to Rochester area
philoshop replied to New York Hillbilly's topic in General Chit Chat
Overall it's what I would consider a high-pressure area, and the deer have responded accordingly. Walking a hundred yards off the road to hunt in most of Wayne Co is not going to get you very much. It sure happens, but it's not the rule. Lots of undeveloped land including swamps, bogs, and hundred-acre brier patches that are intimidating to say the least, but that's where the deer are. If you're willing to work at it, it can be truly amazing, but it's definitely not grocery shopping! I wish you the best on your move. Make some friends and Enjoy! -
Failure to register the firearm may be considered a misdemeanor, but "possession of an illegal firearm" (ie, one that is not properly registered) is a felony. I just checked my copy of the SAFE act legislation. The end goal of the anti-gun crowd is a complete and total disarming of the citizenry. Every single inch they get without a fight from us gets them that much farther down the road and emboldens them to take the next inch. Our fighting back does not change their agenda but rather forces them to spend time and energy in rethinking their tactics. I don't condone breaking the law, but that is essentially what the governor and his legislators did in enacting SAFE. If they want to fight that way they shouldn't be too surprised when 'their enemy' adopts some of those same tactics, And they had better be sure their armed non-civilians are fully on their side.

That's just wrong, buddy! LOL Yer not from O-o-o-o-o-vid or Lo-o-o-o-odi are ya? Many years ago, 35+ years ago, I was working on my girlfriend's car adjusting the tranny linkage. Jackstands, wheel chocks and all safety precautions in place as I remember. She suddenly screamed, " get away from there!" I rolled out from under the car to see what she was freakin' about, and the car dropped. When I took a look to find out what had happened, one of the chocks had been kicked away from the wheel and the car had twisted off the stands. There was no-one around and I know that I didn't screw up. She told me that her long-dead grandmother who used to own the farm didn't like me for some reason. Very weird stuff! Our relationship didn't last very long after that. Wasn't worth the risk I guess.

I've had excellent results with Bushnell cams. $200 list, but I've picked them up for about $130 or so on the 'net. Great pics, very fast, and a good IR flash that doesn't scare the posers. A slightly wider FOV would have picked up my bow shot on a 9-point two years ago. The camera picked up his butt headed away. As it turned out, that's about how I shot him too. Just above the left haunch and into the boiler-room. I would have sworn it was a perfect broadside shot.

Congrats on the nice buck and the nice mount! The stories behind the mounts usually mean a lot more than the mounts themselves. I'd like to hear more about that 'new crossfit regime'. LOL Sounds like a good one. In the end, it's all about the memories. Make 'em good ones.

New Video - Creepin' In
philoshop replied to downwindoutdoors's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
DWO, it's a lot like the music business. Generating enough cash flow to maintain the gear and upgrade now and then keeps you interested and moving. Jumping in with both feet can turn you off in a hurry. Burning 500 dvd's to put in local shops and on the web shouldn't be a whole lot of money. Heck, a bored high-school kid on summer break might do it for a chance to hunt with you next season. Next year it's a few more copies, or another short run of a new one. You could probably sell a few dozen right here. The Grateful Dead wasn't started as a money-making venture, it just turned out that way because of the passion they all had for what they did. I'm not a huge fan of their music, but they sure got the business end of it right. Grassroots marketing. JMO, good luck with the venture. Mark -
Pull up a chair, grab a few cold ones, and enjoy the show! Gets annoying though when it's squirrel, squirrel, same squirrel, the squirrel with no tail for 250 frames... I thinned the herd a little in January. Takes longer to look at all the pics of 'em than it does to bring 'em home to the crockpot.

I find it a little disturbing when deer are referred to as 'livestock'.

Shipping ammo?

That part of the SAFE act is so vague and poorly written that nobody really knows what's going on. -
We can't give up but, man, that kind of media bias is hard to swallow.
