  1. All except bear for me. I too have never seen one in NY, I only saw some tracks 2 days after gun season closed. I almost had a NY canine slam this year, but couldn't find a grey fox and they're usually what I see the most of. Biz- best of luck on the N. American Cat Slam! I'm extremely jealous! I want to see some pics. Especially the Lynx!
  2. Whose apple tree? They must've neglected to see the property line!! lol Hmmm our new tree 4 1/2 ft. hasn't been touched, but then again the rye and clover must keep them busy.
  3. I had a premonition(dream) last night about this exact topic. It's funny that in my dream I was tracking a deer with a 5ft wide blood trail and I remember stopping and looking up at the perfect tree for a stand. Now I just gotta find that tree! I'll be scouting some new turf for pre- rut as I see some of my best deer at that time.
  4. I know non-hunting women who like DD and read their books as well. How can you not? I'd watch it over anything else on TV nowadays.......................Yuppy kids.
  5. Very nice morels! I went this evening to look, but had an emergency call.
  6. Good find! I checked my spot today while turkey hunting and found zero!
  7. Mine usually tastes like a cigarette! I think juice would create too much saliva, thus making you sound like an angry goose! LOL
  8. Just because you didn't hear a gobble doesn't mean he didn't come in and spot your setup. They don't always gobble as there's really no need to if they're surrounded by hens. Gobbling is not the mating call, it's merely to locate his hens. Drumming and spitting is what they do when courting a female. In these situations I like to get the hens pissed at me, then when the mad hens come to investigate, they bring the tom with them...........BANG......FLOP! Then there's the chance that you've educated that bird. In that case it would be wise to let that spot be for a week and at the very least, use a different call and don't overcall. Good luck
  9. Their hearing is dimished, therefore they can often be found in an open field. Decoys are nice to have in open terrain so even if they can't hear your calls, they can spot the deke.
  10. That's shytty, especially since he must know that you have a family. Did you call him out about the $ in front of his girl?
  11. I've let payment go a few days if the boss runs into trouble, but I'm always confident that he will pay me. If I was told that I would not be compensated I would choke someone, or atleast put the fear of God into them! You could take his car/truck for collateral.
  12. That's awesome news verminater! We usually get a bunch of friends and family together for the event. We love catty fishing anyways, so why not try and win something doing it. Some lines in the water, a few cold brews in the cooler and a fire to keep the skeeters at bay. I'm ready!
  13. Hunt- are you jigging from a boat or shore? I've found from shore(river) that tube jigs really help eliminate alot of snags on rocky bottom and the walleyes tear em' up!!!
  14. I'm not sure about the launch, but I'm pretty sure I heard in the past month or 2 that Hickories is opening back up. There's a new(er) launch in Apalachin too. As for waterfowl, that's one thing in all my years that I haven't hunted. That will change this year!
  15. Yep! It's a shame too. I've caught some slobs in the area including two 30inch eyes. I've fished every inch of the river from Conklin to Apalachin. The Susky is a great fishery, just not a great eatery IMO. It's pretty nasty when the south end of the goudy dam has gray, murky stained water and the north end is crystal clear. BARF!! I never intentionally went after carp, just bass, walleye, cats, tigers, and northerns. I'm hoping the Owego VFW holds the "all night catfish derby" this summer, now that Hickories park is back open. It's a good time, ya'll should look into it. We won a 14ft. boat & motor back in '04 with a 13lb catty. My avatar is me in the boat on the Susky.
  16. As long as their feet stay dry(not soggy) then they should only benefit. From what I've been seeing, they have been in need of moisture so this should help them pop through the leaves!!! I checked my morel spot on sunday to no avail. This weekend looks a bit more promising if the temps stay normal.
  17. I only eat walleye out of the Tioughnioga or Otselic nowadays, but since I live on the Susquehanna, I fish it regularly.
  18. and this duck's already in the dog house!
  19. Morels reported in Oneida Co. I'm gonna try my spots tomorrow as well. A little rain would be great. Look closely, they might not be popping through leaf litter yet. Good luck
  20. Huh! and I couldn't enter the contest cuz' I was a day late? LOL Just bustin'! I could really care less. Way to go on your 1st deerpassion!
  21. Grandad used to hunt them in Delaware County back in the day. He also lost a dog from a snakebite.
  22. Can you update us with a price sheet? How do you prefer pelts when shipped?
