No. Its my first year hunting decided to bow hunt (I know I heard I'm nuts) but I've been shooting my whole life and just thought bow would be more challenging. A bit too challenging I think Lol. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

I've had them facing away from the toms every time with me facing the toms from every direction. Same thing happens everyday. They come in, whether it be from in front of me, behind, or the sides. Get to 30 yards get hung up and leave. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Those 11 have been within 30 yards just never gave me a shot. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Been at it all year, in the timber and fields. Have been within 75 yards of 19-20 birds and have spotted 11 or so. I'm bow hunting and not one bird has closed the distance. One guy said they might be seeing the hens, waiting for them to come, and when they don't they get bored and leave. Haven't punched my first tag yet so I have nothing to lose. Time to drop those dekes and give that a try. Can't wait to get back out there! Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Started archery this year and have been reading about stabilizer length. Is longer better? I have an 8 inch one on there and was just wondering if a 10 or even a 12 would really improve my accuracy at all? Honestly my groupings are tight but hey who doesn't want to have an extra edge out there. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

A friend of mine was just saying he absolutely hates his AT&T service. I have Verizon. As the saying goes you get what you pay for. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Lol my buddy who's been hunting 30 years says buy a shotgun. All his advice pertains to run n gun. I refuse. Its either bow or nothing, that's what I committed to. Just personal preference. Im prior MP, have shot guns my whole life and just don't think it challenging. The timber I'm in is basic NY open woods if you know what I mean. I can be unseen but drawing on one is a different story. It does make sense tho that they're seeing my dekes (even if I don't think they are) waiting for the hen to come to them and when she doesn't they're just getting bored and leaving...like I said in my previous post I'm just concerned they won't come passed the blind to look for the "hen" but I suppose if I'm not sealing the deal with the way I'm doing it now, it can't hurt to try without them Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Thanks good tips all around. I am bow hunting that's why I'm in the blind. I know for certain they are not seeing me. I had a hen 5 yards in front of me last Saturday going bananas over my dekes. Never saw me. She called in 6 males that were 30 yards behind me but wouldn't commit to where the hen was. (She left 5 minutes before those 6 came into view) I've also been in the timber the last couple times. That's where I'm getting the most action. Just off a game trail. Basically I'm setup with my back to them, dekes in front of me so if they commit they walk right passed me. I'm getting these birds 25-30 yards away from the decoys so I think either do away with them or setup like terry said. Get something between me and them. My only worry without using the dekes in the timber is still getting them to come in front of the blind so I have a shot. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

I'm always in a blind. Just gotta put my time out here I guess. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Well one came back but same thing. I just can't get them to close the distance. I know I'm a beginner but it's getting discouraging. I've been near some 15 birds since opening day. Still no tag punched. I've tried calling softly when they're close, I've hammered on it, I've gone dead silent, ugh frustrated frustrated. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Had a couple come in to about 50 yards, got henned up tho. I was mimicking the hens like crazy but no luck. Hopefully they'll come back to here after they're done with those two hussies! Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

The rain is something else. I've been waiting for a sunny day during the week just so I can call into work Lol. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Definitely. We couldn't have asked for a more exciting day. It was a success in my book. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

I don't think anything else could have been done. I'm as hooked as hooked can be tho that's for sure. It just wasn't in the cards today. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Me & a buddy were out early, located some Jakes in the woods. We were in a blind but I thought the best course of action was to go on foot. I was setup on a logging road and called em in. I was about 25 yards away and they came across the road where I didn't expect them to. The lead one gobbling the second one in full strut and the third looking right in my direction. I didn't have a shot. They kept going and i couldn't bring them back toward us. We go back to the blind and move our gear just inside of where I saw those 3. We start calling and about 15 minutes later this lone hen comes screaming in. She's 5 yards from us clucking and yelping like crazy. She was on top of our dekes like what the hell are these. We hear the gobblers going bananas from a good 100+ yards out. We kept her interested for about 15min. As she left 6 males came up behind us at about 30 yards. What's unreal is we were between the hen and toms but they kept going in one direction and her in another. Its my 5th time out this year and this being my rookie year I was amazed at what happened today. If I was using a shotgun I'd have my tags full by now Lol. Is there anything different I could have done to get those toms in? Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Have had numerous contacts, haven't been able to seal the deal. I'm learning a lot in my rookie year, but this weather has been garbage. Yea that's it, the weather is the reason I haven't harvested my first bird! Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

9G, 9H had one on opening day at 100 yards, never made a sound, was pure luck I even saw him. He left, heard some gobbles then someone's shotgun went off from that direction. Went to another spot, 3 birds responded to a cutt then dead silence, never saw or heard them again. Day 2 had one right off the roost, i played hard to get, he gobbled at 75 yards about 45-50 yards then bam someone's shotgun goes off, definitely for that bird, and a little too close for comfort. Day 3 went to new area with a buddy, no sounds whatsoever. Sat till 10 decided to have a look around, there's a logging road adjacent to where we were. Found scat, a ton of scratches, and tracks, looks like a big bird. Had to have been from the previous evening. At least I know where to setup next time there. Left went to 9H, no sounds at all, hit a few calls, nothing. Walk 60 yards, bam 2 Jakes walking right up the side of a ravine. Spooked em. Its my rookie year and I'm loving every minute of it. I think its just a matter of time before I connect.

Sorry for all the questions guys. Anyway, it seems to me like my best bet in the 1st 2 days has been within the first two hours of sunrise. I just haven't been able to seal the deal. After that it's far & in between. Is that just purely coincidence?

This rain is something else. (9H). Had a bird coming at me right off the roost. Was getting closer and closer then silence, then a shotgun blast from his direction. DAMN! Did I mention this rain is something else? Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
