Protesters are a joke imo. If you're going to protest because the person you wanted didn't win then you're pathetic. I have no empathy towards protesters who turn violent. I just looked up how many Republicans missed Obama's inauguration. It seems many of them just happen to go away that weekend. Coincidence? Lol I actually did a search on the forum and I did come up with a quote from a member saying that he did not view Obama as his president. But back to my original comment. I think it's fair to say that many people on the right said Obama was not their president. -

It is A big deal considering he was our first African-American president, regardless of how you view him politically. I'm sure people have a lot of pride in that. I know I would be very prideful if an Italian person was elected president. -

In all fairness plenty of people from the right were chanting not my president to Obama. It's the same song and dance for both sides. Just google "obama not my president" and you will see plenty of material. Obama was OUR president. Same as trump. But not everyone sees it that way. -

Crystal Lake Wild Forest
diplomat019 replied to diplomat019's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Yeah. I highly recommend it. Been going for about 6 years. I make a weekend of it with my buddies. I almost bought my gsp from there but their breeding didnt work out for me. Was looking for a puppy late spring and their litter was late summer/fall if i remember correctly. You have a gsp? Where did you get it from? -

Any of you guys have any info on this piece of land in Sullivan County? I'm going up for pheasant hunt in a couple weeks and was thinking about stopping by here to do some grouse and small game hunting possibly because it's so close to where I will be at. There's a lot of other land in the area that I'm kind of familiar with but this is more convenient. I need buddy know about this land or have any first-hand info on it?

What kind of dog for birds
diplomat019 replied to cynthiafu's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Just my opinion on the training aspect. I'm a weekend warrior when it comes to bird hunting. I have a full-time job and a family so my life isn't totally dedicated to my dog. I'm sure many others in the same boat as me. I'd love to spend all day training and hunting but that's just not the reality. If you get a dog from a reputable breeder with proven blood lines you're already ahead of the game. With that being said if you put in the time your dog will be fine. Basicobedience is a must. Simple commands like come go a long way in the field. My dog is not much of a retriever but I put that on myself because it isn't something that I really worked on. But as far as finding birds and listening in the field I couldn't ask for anything more. I had all these grand aspirations when I got him but reality set in with a full-time job and commuting to work and a family on top of that. Being that I hunt on the weekends I didn't find it justifiable to send him to a professional trainer which would have cost thousands of dollars. I would look into NAVHDA. I went to a training once which was really informative. I ended up not becoming a member because I was fortunate enough to have a quill pen and land to train on but I think for the cost and knowledge they bring it is worth it. But if you have the time and lnd you should be able to train the dog on your own. Good luck! I was giving my advice from the point of view of a pointing dog. I'm not familiar with flushers so maybe my advice wouldn't pertain to them. -

Nice. I got my trapping license a couple years ago but never tracked before. Hopefully I can bag a coyote or fox this year predator hunting. My question is, aren't you supposed to dry them inside out? Or is that one already dried? -
Aside from getting ripped do you think that they were quality though? Do you think that if they were a pair of muck boots they wouldn't have ripped? Just curious because I'm not really familiar with rubber boots much. I bought a really cheap pair from Walmart to go surf fishing this year but I want a decent pair to hunt with in wet weather.

Do you ever buy stuff off at Sportsmens guide? I bought a pair of tactical boots off there a few years ago and I really like them as far as comfort. They weren't waterproof which stunk but that was my own choice. But I really like them to hike and hunt with. specifically has anybody used the guide gear rubber boots? I want a pair of rubber boots bit mucks are kinda expensive. If the guide gear give the same quality then id be fine with them. Or any other runber boot that is good?
