I'm curious how you determine what better is. I saw the pics of the deer you took... looked like you did well to me. I never understood how anyone could be disappointed with any hunting season... successful or not. Some of my favorite hunting seasons have been ones where I didn't even get a deer... I can't the be only one here that feels this way. I had a great year seeing big bucks, but was just a step behind the eight ball when it came to taking one... but man did I have fun!!! I can't imagine it getting any better than that.

Taking the time to think this over will produce way better ideas than rash decisions... I guess it's just the human condition that makes some think that they can solve such a difficult problem with knee jerk reactions... I suppose for some taking the time to make sensible decisions just doesn't make sense and is not in their DNA.

They still do get paid for acrued overtime though.

Christmas is a time for huge gatherings in my family... inlaws, outlaws, friends... both on Christmas eve and Christmas day... there is always tons of love and laughter and has always been my favorite time of year. This year my wife and I are starting a new tradition where instead of spending money on each other we are giving that money to a charity that helped us a few years back when our son was sick... The Jonathan Cancer Fund... Having been recipients of this charity's generosity in a time of need without having ever asked for their help makes us honored to pay it forward to help others during their difficult time as well. Merry Christmas!!

Yes they are... and a handsome salary it is and the one public job that I think warrants such a salary. It doesn't warrant wasting taxpayer dollars letting your car sit idling all day, but for not knowing everyday whether or not you'll be coming home to your family it is a justified salary.

Most panels now days only need light not sun... and having a backup battery being charged (or even 2) would give the car the extra power needed to run the equipment until the next day when the battery can be recharged again by the panel. Many RV's are equiped with the same kinds of panels and can run lights, tv, fridge, radio and a 110 outlet for an entire weekend. You can even get one to charge your cell phone.

I think we should make everyone take a Rorschach test and if you see anything other than a senseless black blob, you're nuts!!! -
Makes sense.. but all that could be solved with a simple solar cell on the roof of the car that charges a back up battery to run that equipment when the car isn't running.. (Thats why computers have power saving features) What happens when his shift is over and the car sits overnight in at the police station? I would think light, radio, and sirens should be off when not in use and shouldn't be drawing power and the dash cam is certainly not doing much good pointing at the side of the post office building. I guess the reason doesn't make as much sense as I first thought after thinking it through...

Good post... this is the kind of knee jerk reaction that tries to solve one problem by creating another.

Anyone that has ever worked in a state, federal or municiple job wouldn't be surprised by this at all.. this kind of waste is a common occurance.. and run rampant.

We conservatives believe in the global warming, we just don't believe that it's being caused by our lack of concern for the environment... global warming and cooling have occured on earth since the beginning of time.

oops.. not sure what a "bug" buck is but I'm pretty sure I didn't see any of those...lol

Come on Doe.. you can't be serious... the barrage is coming! I think the NRA stayed away from this one early to not create a specticle out of respect for those affected by this tragic event . Which is way more than can be said for the anti-gun advocates and media. OOps.. sorry they are both the same people.

LOL and how do you suppose the government is going to use air power against a divided country where there won't be tons of collateral damage. Not to mention damage to valuable infrastructure... plus like I said.. many of the soldier will be on the side of the people... I promise you it would happen way different than some would think... soldiers commandeering planes and tanks and fighting for the people.. there would be more jumping ship in the military than anyone knows, but not before they took control of whatever weapon they could steal from the government.. again... Iets hope it never comes to that.. I think we're safe once liberals stop pissing on God, Guns and the Constitution..lol

Always good to hear the reality that people in this country sometimes refuse to believe... the problem can only be remedied by controling the people not the instrument. -
Some of the posts are a perfect example of why things are the way they are... certain people hear and read what they want to read not what is being said... Doc is right on base when he says that there are people with such hatred for guns that they do nothing all day, every day, but plan ways to abolish the 2nd amendment... and those plans have included exploitation of a heinous event like that which occurred in CT. They may feel for the victims, but look to this tragedy as the perfect avenue to finally get what they have been seeking for so long. We live in a world now where for some people anything goes to attain ones objective. We see it in government, we see at work and we even see it here on the forum... again, it is the human condition and it continues because some look the other way as if it doesn't exist.

Been trying to stop criminal activity since the beginning of time... it just isn't going to happen. As far as illegal gun use that will always be here as well, that is, unless we can get every country in the world to melt down every gun in the world. Now we all know that won't happen either because logistically it would be impossible seeing how criminals would hide guns from being melted.. in fact, I don't think that anyone alive really knows how many guns truly exist in the world. Its an utter impossibility to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. It would be far easier to eliminate the criminals over time than the weapons. The truth is that it would be much easier to eliminate the first 4 groups without affecting the last group. Sad, but that's the reality. Why the "smart" people that have all the answers haven't figured this out is beyond me. -
Saw three different bug bucks, but couldn't get a good shot at any of them.. had lots of fun though.

No more stupid than using such a tragedy to further an anti gun agenda... this is not remotely about guns... just a tool used in a senseless crime... could have been poison, a bomb or piano wire... this is about the break down of our society and family unit with liberal progressive thinking... until we start realizing that.. you can take away all the guns in the world and it won't do a lick of good. smart decisions are made with the head... rash decisions are made with the heart... we should be using our hearts to feel for the people affected by this tragedy and use our heads to solve it... thinking that this is about guns is a knee jerk reaction made in the hearts of people not a realistic solution thought out with ones head. How's this for stupid? Keep pushing the gun issue and see where that gets you with these kinds of heinous crimes...
