  1. Everyone here needs to read this.. it is the epitomy of how liberals think.. and the reason for the deterioration of our freedoms here in the US. You especially have to love this statement.. People in rural and less populated areas within the state where gun violence is less have no choice but to accept additional state gun control measures because of majority rules in the state legislature and the the fact that one fits all is unfair is moot... remember folks.. according to this thinking if you don't live in the city you have "no choice" and must just give in. And we all know that this statement has been proven time and time again to be wrong... Loosen the laws regarding gun control and the body count will rise. Bear in mind that incidences of gun violence is concentrated in urban areas and the laws regarding posssession of firearms are needed to be stricter.. incidences of gun violence by criminals and gang members who have no regard for stricter gun laws. This kind of post sends chills up my spine that somebody actually thinks like this and believes it makes sense.
  2. It was a better show than I expected... I like the new venue too.
  3. Exactly right... for every year that live they get that much harder to kill and that much closer to becoming a mature buck. The more restrictive the AR though the greater the chances of stretching the age structure beyond 3.5... once the age stucture balances, attitudes change about passing bucks voluntarily because there is a bigger crop of adult bucks to hunt.. once a significant representation of older aged bucks is achieved rarely is there a need to continue mandatory AR's... hunters are more apt to pass on younger bucks voluntarily because of the increased selection of mature bucks. Mandatory AR's tend to speed up the education process for hunters... where voluntary AR's initially tend to take forever because of the itchy trigger finger. The hunters like the idea of passing but just don't have the restraint..
  4. The NYB lying has been going on for years.. I caught them in one 15 years ago..concerning the production cost of Full Draw.. their magazine... haven't been a member since.
  5. I think the IRS needs to see the amout donated if they ever audit... I haven't ever checked but Maybe the Venison Donation website has info on deducting donations.
  6. I think there planning on spending 6 hours actually inside the store... hopefully that will be enough time..
  7. Good post Culver... AR's are only a small portion of QDM... but still a very important factor when the goal is a "quality" management program. NY seems to be content on it's herd just "getting by"... ie. minimal deer conservation efforts to control populations among habitats... not the same as optimal herd management... if "getting by" is the goal, then there is nothing more to talk about concerning AR's in NY.
  8. Our gun club had a bus trip planned for the Harrisburg show.. instead we are using the bus for a trip to Cabela's that day. I've never been there so I'm pretty excited.
  9. That was one of my first big concerns as well... hopefully somebody or a group of somebodies will step up.
  10. They certainly don't... I think when they say "directly affected" they are talking about those that would not have been able to display or sell those guns... when in reality their decision affected the better portion of their attendees and vendors..the ones that felt their 2nd Amendment Rights being infringed.
  11. I'm all for voluntary yearling buck protection over manditory AR's... unfortunately if we wait for voluntary passing on small bucks... us and our kids won't live long enough to see a more mature and age balanced buck herd... especially when the DEC's position is based on population control in a habitat...not herd balance. I guess it's all about what hunters really want here in NY..only the future will tell.
  12. "the presence of "modern sporting rifles" would have distracted from the show's focus on hunting and fishing," I'd have to say their position is what caused the distraction... distracted them right out of a show.
  13. Here is Reed's recent official statement on postponing the Eastern Sports Show... Man! I couldn't have been more wrong about these guys... a simple "We've changed our position and decided to allow the sale and display of modern sporting rifles at the show." would have been a better response... http://www.easternsportshow.com/
  14. What you say is true about society's breakdown.. but I am referring more to how some immediately used Sandy Hook a springboard to an agenda, when they should have been focusing all their attention on what could be done to aid those affected by the tragedy... when people are in trouble our first instinct should be to spend however long it takes to help them with the cross they now have to bear... not exploit them for personal or political gain. That is a lack of humanity in my eyes.
  15. These elected officials are now blatantly disrespecting hard working American taxpayers... they don't even hide this from us anymore... they think they are invincible... because they ARE as long as WE continue to put the same idiots in office.. shame on us!!!!!
  16. It would be disrespectful no to question any of this... while the families grieve it is the duty of the people, the media and the government to get the details correct... if there are inconsistancies then questions need to be asked... you forget that the parents only know what they are told by officials as well.. lets hope for all our sake that nobody is withholding or giving misleading information about what happened... one thing this really proves is that there are those that would trust the media and government officials without question... fortunately there are still some that dare to keep them accountable for what they say and do... the disrespect here comes from those that continue to make the tragic death of children into a battle about guns when it is really about our lack of humanity.
  17. Thanks Steve.. I was really wrong on this one... think I was posting faster than thinking.
  18. My processor gives me a reciept for the amount donated based on the weight of the meat donated. I deduct that amount and keep all reciepts on record... of course you can only take the deduction I believe if you itemize your deductions.. doesn't apply if you take the standard deduction.
  19. Due to the NRA's decision to boycott the show I have changed my position as a life member and will not be attending the show as well. Also after seeing Reed's reluctance to change their position taking into account the opinions and concerns by an overwhelming portion of attendees and vendors I also have reservation about whether or not this was really just a business decision by Reed for the good of the show. I now believe that my original remarks and opinions were wrong... and understand that Reed's position is a blatant disregard for the 2nd Amendment.
  20. The truth is that we will never know the truth... if you so much as suggest that there are inconsistancies in the story you are labled insensitive to what happened there and a conspiracy theorist.
  21. Strange... why would a swat team member be running from the seen.. doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of his job?
  22. I was watching a repeat of the NY gun bill discussion in the legislature last night and was amazed that one of the Dem legislators stated that the gunman was found with 4 handguns on his person and an AR15 in the trunk of his car... and nobody there corrected his statement.... strange.
  23. I had the chance to watch the entire bill discussion in the legislature.. if you get a chance... watch it.. most of the new bill questions are answered...many answers of which are very vague... you won't be disappointed as the Dems are unable to answer some of the questions with any level of intelligence... some of the Dem responses and statements are laughable at best and show how little grasp they really have on gun culture.. one Dem legistalor from Westchester County even makes the statement that he will not stop until all guns and ammo are banned in NY. Then of course there was the usually tickling of the governors nuts by the Dems pointing out how couragous he was to slip this bill through in the dark of night.
  24. Do we continue until the show no longer exists ?
  25. Exactly my point... there is way more to consider here.
